Summary: P H E N O M E N A L
Review: BELIEVE ME...this phone rocks. I have been through about 5 cordless phones over the last year and half and it was incredibly frustrating and irritating. Horrible reception, short battery life, weird quirks.

All was resolved with this phone. I'm serious...this phone is great. I was hesitant to buy Vtech since I wasn't familiar with the brand- THESE ARE THE PHONE EXPERTS. I read some of the negative reviews that other people wrote about this phone and i could NOT disagree more! Everything about this phone is worked out and streamlined. No more hassles.

Summary: Nice looks, bad sound quality & range
Review: I had hoped that this new phone would live up to my expectations of a V-Tech 2.4 ghz phone. Setting up the phone was quite easy, and the second handset pretty much set itself up as well. The features were impressive, ranging from varying the ringer sound and volume to inputting callers into a directory straight from the caller ID.

But the important tests of a cordless phone (range & sound quality) found this phone lacking. If you only plan on using this phone inside the house, the V-Tech will most likely prove adequate. But if you are like me and prefer to keep your phone handy while washing the car or sunning on the deck, then look closer at the Panasonic Extreme phones which had incredible range (more than 100+ yards!) The V-Tech phone has a miserable distance-from-base range.

The answering machine on this phone leaves much to be desired on the sound quality. Messages tend to be digitally garbled, at times almost indecipherable. I thought maybe I had a lemon, but when I exchanged for the same model, it too experienced the same issues above. So sadly, I must say this phone looks great, sounds horrible. Look elsewhere.

Summary: Best Ever, So Far
Review: I've had this phone about a month now, and it's far and away the best cordless phone I've ever had. The secondary functions are fairly user friendly, and has everything you'd want. I love the onboard speaker phone, especially for when I'm stuck on hold. I can use my cell phone headset with it, and it's truly hands free when using the included belt clip.

Summary: Not so hot
Review: We've owned this phone for over a year and have been mostly disappointed. While it functions fine, it has irratating quirks.

Volume: when it speed dials, the dialing is so loud that it hurts your ear. But after the dialing the volume is much quieter. You can select about 5 preset volume levels for conversation, but none of them seem just right. Each preset level is a drastic jump from nothing to extremely loud. When you're already on the phone in a conversation it's very difficult to adjust the volume up or down becuase of the very small size of the phone and the necessary buttons to push are not easily reached while on a call. I have to pull the phone away from my face to look at the front and press the right buttons and hope I haven't missed something important. Also, in a somewhat noisy room it still seems hard to hear or understand people and the jumps in volume adjustments just don't seem to help. Perhaps it's just that the sound clarity of the handset speaker is poor so you have to crank up the volume to really hear people well in various situations, which leads to sore ears after a long conversation.

size: the pictures of this unit make it seem bigger than what it really is. This is a "tiny", but "thick" phone. The base unit is equally tiny and the buttons on both units are quite small. However, the handset display is a good size and quite readable. The small size also makes it very difficult to cradle this phone on your shoulder.

To me the base and handset looks like it's constructed of cheap plastic that's painted silver--although ours has held up just fine so far. The paint has rubbed off in several places and the lettering on the buttons is already wearing off. The speaker phone function does not work well and people have a hard time understanding us during the times we've used it. The reception distance is nothing special and the same goes for the battery life.

Even though this phone still works and is relatively new we are looking to replace it because we're so irratated with it in general--I think that says a lot about it. I think we'll put it in some lonely place in the basement for emergencies. Currently we're looking at the Panasonic KX-TG2583B.

Summary: Not so great after about a year
Review: At first I thought this was a great phone because of it's speakerphone abilities on the base as well as on the headset. Now I'll be lucky if this thing answers a call without dropping the call while "Searching for Base" even though I'm standing 2 feet from it. It would be a great phone if it would do it's primary job- answer calls!

Summary: not the best value out there
Review: I have owned this phone for roughly 3 months now. I am relatively satisfied with it, but would certainly not purchase it again, as I believe there are better phone for the money out there. The features are great, including the speaker phone function on the handset, but the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. I have had to buy a second battery as well because of a dismal battery life. Since you can charge one in the base while the other is in the handset, this is an inconvenience that can be remedied, but at an extra cost.

In short, a nice phone, but it has not lived up to my expectations and is not worth a premium price.

Summary: I love this phone
Review: I bought this phone after much online research. None of the problems have come true for me. The sound quality is excellent. The range is very good. The speakerphone in the base is very convenient and using it is indistinguishable from using the handset. The handsfree option in the handset is great, especially when working my way through touch tone menu options. Another very nice surprise was that this phone works with verizon voice mail. We know we have a message without checking for the fast dial tone. Some features are a bit annoying and hopefully will be added to future versions. Each handset keeps an independent list of "saved" numbers. It would be nice to program the numbers in just once and have them available from any handset, but this process must be repeated for each phone. I will buy another vtech system when the price goes down.

Summary: Looking to replace ... equip. after 18 mos
Review: Have had this phone plus 2 additional handsets for 18 mos. The dropped calls ("searching for base" even when near the base), is becoming increasingly frequent and increasingly annoying. For no discernable reason (microwave or computer proximity; bad weather) the crackling can sometimes be so bad, I have to finish the call on a corded phone. Someone speaking softly can't be heard over the sound of whooshing air. Lot of great features, like calling from handset to handset, but other than that I can't wait to find a better system. Consumer reports recommends Uniden EXS 9965 or TRU 346. Reviews are mixed there as well. Maybe I'll stick to corded phones.

Summary: Horrible Overpriced Junk, Go with Panasonic Instead
Review: This phone looks good, but it's junk. The sound quality is terrible. The base looses knowledge of the handset. Sometimes when the phone rings and you answer, it hangs up on the caller because of this. The buttons on the phone are too small and close together. If you want a quality cordless phone, buy PANASONIC. I've tried all the brands. You can't get any better performance than Panasonic.

Summary: This phone drops incoming calls
Review: this is the orst phone system i have ever owned. a waste of money. every third time the phone rings, it "searches for base" and never picks the phone call up. do not waste your money.
