Summary: One of the worst phones I've seen in a while
Review: Bought this set to replace 2 Panasonic cordless phones I had that for some reason have no battery life, even with new batteries...but that's a whole other story.

The features sounded great...ability to transfer calls from one handset to another, walkie-talkie type feature that would function even when the power is out, hold button. But I never got to try them out. These phones had the worst reception. For example...if I was in my kitchen with the exhaust fan above the stove on, I couldn't hear the person I was talking to. Even if I was in the living room sitting next to the base, the reception was horrid...static, volume changes. Even the loudest volume setting was no help.

The one thing I did like about it...the color combination. The green and grey was very pretty.

Needless to say, I returned it to Target yesterday.

Summary: Terrible phones
Review: Click, click, click... Never stops clicking when talking on them. Can be heard from both ends. Bad Static. Poor range. Everything interfeeres with it. I will never buy another GE phone. I loved the look and feel. I like the features. But it's use is rediculious. And the batteries are always going dead. Avoid these phones.

Summary: a waste of money
Review: I bought this dual handset cordless phone when my Sony cordless died. This phone has numerous problems. First, there is a really annoying echo that comes and goes when using this phone. The "1" button on one of the phones has now died, and the caller id is confusing. Instead of registering the calls in order to review later, you can only review the phone numbers of callers who are not already stored in the caller id memory, and the caller id memory is not even in chronological order by date. I am never buying a GE phone again.

Summary: Good phone
Review: I have a lot of computer gear in my home and expect a little noise over cordless phones, however I have had no issues with this phone. There is no static or hissing or any of the other things complained about in other reviews. Great system for the money.

Summary: Great phone, reception, battery life, etc.
Review: I have had a great experience with these two phones after several trials with a variety of others. I am not wild about the color scheme (aqua green and gray - how exicting!) Also, not specifically high tech looking, but works great. Super range on these, the only drawback being that the directory in the phone is a little more limited on the number of spaces per entry, but I have a third party LD service that requires a lot of numbers, so probably not a factor for most. Overall, would most deifinitely recommend.

Summary: There are far worse out there
Review: I just got this after having a HORRIBLE system from Bell Phones. For the money, it's not bad. In response to some other reviewers, no, it doesn't automaticaly add a "1" before a long distance number if you're returning a number from the caller id. However, all you have to do is press the "format" button while viewing the number, and the "1" is added. This is good for someone like me, who lives in an area where I always have to dial the area code when calling anyone (even within my own area code) I only have to dial a "1" when someone is far away (and they might still be in my area code. It's very confusing)
As far as the echo and the static goes, I haven't had a problem with that. Hopefully I won't. I agree with the other people about the caller id list, though. It's very confusing, it's not in order of calls. Also, there is no voice mail waiting notification. But other than that, it's not bad.

Summary: You will not get what you ordered!
Review: I ordered this phone and it is not the same phone described! Beware, the specs are not accurate.

Summary: Great Expandable Phone System for the money.
Review: I purchased this dual handset system about a year ago, and for the money it has performed much better than I expected it to. In fact, it works better (less static and clicks, clearer sound) than many other more pricey cordless brands I have owned in the past.
I recently purchased another of these systems (at half the price I paid originally), hoping that I could register the 2 new handsets with the old base unit (this is not a documented function) - and it worked! Now, I have one phone outlet and four handsets - for less than what other expandable systems cost for only 2 handsets.
GE has recently replaced this model with a new updated model, but the older model can still be found if you search the 'Net. I read the online documentation for the new system, and it looks like the only changes are cosmetic and the menuing system is different. So my guess would be that you could use 4 handsets with the new one as well.
Overall, this is the best, most versatile cordless system I have owned. Many easy to use features, decent styling, and it works!

Summary: Don't lose one of the phones
Review: If you damage or lose one of the phones you are out of luck. Called manufacture (Thompson) and they are unable to supply replacements.
