Summary: No wall mounting capability!
Review: If you need to hang your phone on the wall, save yourself some trouble and buy another brand - I had to return it. Otherwise it looks like a great unit, probably one of the best on the market. It is just frustrating to see such a basic flaw in an otherwise very good product.

Summary: Nice, but not the best it could be...
Review: My only complaints are that this latest version of the Gigaset should have been 5.8GHz, and they should not have gotten rid of the headset jack that the 4000 series had on thier handsets. Otherwise it has a good sounding speakerphone on the handset and begins to give you some of the features that we've had on cell phones for years.

Summary: Simply put - worst cordless I have ever owned
Review: No "flash" button to get to the call waiting, had to call the company and they informed me that this product was built in Germany without this feature but the work-around was to hold the Mem button for few seconds. Hold it too short - you never switch over and ultimately miss the incoming call. Hold it too long and you disconnect the call you were on first. Terrible battery life, and this is after petitioning Siemens for a new "upgraded" battery. Dislike the Message log functionality. Terrible buzzing and clicking when I talk. Random line interruptions. I saw some favorable reviews on this site, but my friend bought the earlier model and he has had more problems than me, if you can believe that!!!

I paid almost [a lot] for this phone and all I want to do is skip it like a stone across the asphalt in some parking lot and leave it in pieces. If my review can stop just ONE person from buying this product, then I will be able to rest easier.

Summary: Too much clicking!
Review: Overall, i loved the phone. unlike other callers, i was able to make voice activated calls. also, i don't know why the seimens people would say you could not get the phone to announce caller id's -it does work. the downer is it can only announce the caller id if you have created a 'voice activating' recording for it. also, you have to make a separate voice command recording for each person in your household that wants to use the phone (and it can only hold 20 recordings total -10 for you, 10 for your spouse).
i didn't have difficulties with the UI. And i love having a speakerphone in the handset (i've been buying phones with that feature for years). however, the clicking is the deal breaker. my 900mHz Sanyo has no clicking and fine sound quality. the seinmens has the caller id though and good integration with the phone company vmail.

Summary: A fine phone with strong features.
Review: The biggest difference outside of the aesthetic change, between this and the Gigaset 2000 series phones, is the voice activated calling. Sure, you can only store 20 numbers for this voice feature, but there aren't more than 20 people I'm so eager to call anyway. The built-in phone book is more than adequate.

Really, this phone incorporates the features we've come to expect in top-end cell phones. It's rather amazing that so few home phones have added options that we depend on while we're out and about. It's not that they're essential features for the home phone, but our phone use behavior has changed, and isn't it nice to be able to become lazy in our thinking... er, rather, to set up your home and mobile phones in the same manner?

I was concerned that I would have the same sorts of trouble with this phone when it first arrived that I had with my first Siemens Gigaset. Fortunately, this phone works as advertised. While they've abandoned the rather spare look of their earlier phones, it still manages to look infinitely better than most phones on the market.

Summary: Poor Sound Quality
Review: The design and look of the phone(s) are wonderful. The customer service people are very responsive and answered with no hold times....HOWEVER.... the phones had terrible static; probably interference from my router. I've returned them and am going to try the V-tech product.

Summary: A good phone
Review: The phone has lots of features that made it desirable to me. Its small size, appearance, and voice quality are all excellent. The phone has many features and requires the user to spend some time reading the manual to figure them out. The voice dialing and voice announcement are excellent.
The phone only major drawback is how Siemens handles call waiting. I don't know if call waiting is handled differently in Germany but the phones lack of a flash button can be misleading. When a call come through on call waiting the accept button should switch not the MEM button.
Besides this drawback it is still an excellent phone at a reasonable price.

Summary: Be forewarned!
Review: The Siemens Gigaset 4200, 4210, and 4215 units are powerful telephones, but be FOREWARNED....

Customers residing in the 14-state Qwest (formerly US West) service area may NOT be able to utilize some of the advanced telephone features.

Siemens claims that the 4200-series provides support for "Advanced Caller ID on Call Waiting" (aka "Caller ID 2.5") when the service is obtained from the local telephone company. The Siemens 4215 User's Manual states, "The Gigaset 4215 fully supports this convenient telephone company feature."

Don't believe it!!!!

Siemens provides support for "Caller ID 2.5" and claims it is a "standard".

Qwest provides "Call Waiting Deluxe" which requires Type 3 (aka ADSI or Analog Display Service Interface) CPE (Customer Premises Equipment). Type 3 CPE can be programmed (by calling a Qwest-provided 800 number) for use in the Qwest service area with the "Call Waiting Deluxe" service. Siemens' Gigaset 4200-series CANNOT be programmed to work with the Qwest "Call Waiting Deluxe" service.

How Siemens can sell a brand new telephone boldly claiming support for features that require support from, but are not provided by, one of the major national telephone companies (serving 14 states and millions of consumers) is absolutely beyond me!

Siemens customer support is rather unknowledgeable regarding these matters. They're good at making excuses and claiming that "2.5 is the current standard", but absolutely of no assistance in making this customer happy.

I won't be buying any more of these telephones and can't recommend them to anyone.

Summary: Information for the Call Waiting Flash Button
Review: There does seem to be a problem with accepting a call waiting incoming call. However, the "MEM" key at the lower right serves as a flash button. Simply press and hold the 'MEM" key for 1.5 seconds or so and you are able to switch back and forth between callers as usual. I love this phone. If you like buttons and features THIS IS THE PHONE FOR YOU! Sound Quality is Great. Love the Speakerphone feature that makes the handset a speakerphone. The small problem with the manual not informing you of how to REALLY switch between Caller ID calls is no big deal. The Voice dialing works great and it even says the person's name who is calling you if you have their name and number in a voice recorded slot. It has about ten different rings to select and you can even program it to not ring during certain times (at night) and it will automatically turn the ringer back on as you program it to do so. Programing the features on the phone is easy and the manual does a good job with explaining how to use the other features. Have fun!
