Summary: Despite some negative reviews I ordered it anyway...
Review: And I'm glad I did. It is perfect for our needs and a good price. It works fabulously in our multi-apartment building (no inteference) in the city. A wealth of features (love the speakerphone and address book which is like a cell phone!), good battery life and a nice compact design. Not sure what everyone is complaining about. One thing though, haven't figured out how to turn off the speakerphone if I want to go back to just talking into the receiver.

Summary: Exactly what I needed.
Review: Here were my criteria for a new phone: cordless with user-friendly answering machine, good reception in multi-unit apartment building, readable Caller ID display, backlit keypad and display, good battery life, speakerphone, and attractive, ergonomic design.

This phone passes swimmingly on all counts. I'm surprised by the negative reviews of this phone as I find it to be one of the best on the market in its price range. (Previous to this phone I bought a GE and was disappointed by its quality and design. I don't remember the model number, but it was comparably priced.)

I use another Panasonic cordless phone that I bought several years ago (KX-TC1450B). Apart from replacing the battery about a year ago, it works great. So I trust in the durability of Panasonic phones.

For the reviewer who didn't know how to switch back from the speakerphone to the handset, just hit the "Talk" button. Cheers!
Summary: Bad battery
Review: I bought from the store and I charged 6 hrs as stated in manual. Next evening when I back from work, found out that battery was totally running out and couldn't even find the display. Then I tried again charging until charged fully and next day it happened again. I immediately returned to store. Also I noticed some echo.

Summary: Decent phone, sound not great
Review: I bought this phone after 4 years of using 900 MHz phones that failed because of static after an hour or so off the cradle. I've had it for about 5 months and the performance has been solid. I leave it off the cradle every night to keep it by my bed and it's always still strong in the morning. I live in a 3rd floor apartment and I get a clear reception standing on the ground floor at the front door of my building.

The answering machine is easy to use and you can set it to record anywhere from a couple to several minutes per message. The sound on the answering machine is not terrific, but it's clear enough to hear. I haven't had any problems. I use the voice enhancement feature on the phone, but I don't know if it actually improves the sound quality. I think the sound in the handset is fine either way.

This is a good 2.4 GHz phone, especially for the price.

Summary: Think twice
Review: I bought this phone and returned it within two days. The main problem was the background noise. People could hear me well, but I had to hear them through the constant background noise. Reception was not that good too. I had to leave the base not lot longer than 50 feet to have reception problems.

Summary: Something wrong with Panasonic Batteries in general
Review: I came to Amazon to check out reviews of the Panasonic cordless phone to see if anybody has had battery problems. Low and behold several reviewers have complained about the same thing.

I would also like to add that I bought a Panasonic Digital Camcorder and found my battery dying within minutes. Luckily, that battery was replaced under warranty and everything is fine now.

But I didn't realize the battery problem on the phone until about 60 days and I never had the chance to go to the authorized dealer (10 miles away in NYC) by the 90th day.

What a crock.

Summary: Many Features for the Money
Review: I had a similar Uniden phone prior to exchanging it for this one at Wal-Mart. The Uniden's sound and overall quality was poor. I also ruled out the similar AT&T model due to my past bad experience. That is, my recent brand new AT&T cordless phone quit recharging the battery after about 3 months, even after replacing it with a new one. I've also had good luck with GE, but they did not offer one in this price range with the features I was looking for, i.e., 2.4 GHz or higher cordless, answering machine, and speakerphone.

There is no perfect cordless answering machine and speakerphone for around $50 or slightly more out there, but this one is not bad. This one works better than Uniden, but the sound is not as clear as AT&T (again, which completely failed on me).

The cordless reception is excellent, and the volume adjustment is a plus. The answering machine works well, as does the speakerphone. The phone is well-shaped, and fits well in your hand. All the features are easy to use and understand.

As mentioned several times, the the "number of messages" display is hard to read because it is not backlit. Also, you have to press the delete button a second time to delete messages.

I would highly recommend this phone, as it provides a wealth of features for this price point.

Summary: AWESOME PHONE
Review: I HAVE HAD THIS PHONE NOW FOR A FEW WEEKS AND QUITE FRANKLY, IT IS THE BEST CORDLESS PHONE I HAVE EVER HAD. IT IS AS CLEAR AS A CORDED AND THE RANGE IS EXCELLENT. THE DIGITAL ANSWER MACHINE HAS PERFORMED WELL AND THE COSMETICS OF THE UNIT ARE VERY NICE. YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED IF YOU DECIDE TO PURCHASE THIS PHONE.

Summary: Very bad experience
Review: I just bought a KX-TG 2224W afew days ago, from a chainstore.
It sounds quite noisy and unclear.I can not believe my "ear", because I bought a 2.4GHz 27930GE7 at the same time, which just works perfectly clear and good.
