Summary: Stay away
Review: Like so many others, we've experienced the "underwater" problem. I called Siemens, only to learn that the toll-free number has been changed to a toll number. When I contacted them, I was told that the problem is a persistent one in the handset. I could return it (it's still under warranty), but there is no guarantee that they would agree to replace it, since it's an "old" model (as if that should make a different for a product purchased a few months ago). So the product itself is defective, and the service is terrible. Evidently, they wish to go out of business soon, and I hope they do.

Summary: I've never had a single problem with this phone.
Review: My biggest beef is the availability and expense of additional handsets--one just isn't enough.It's light, it's compact, it's got a headset jack, the sound is clear, the display is bright, the menus are easy to negotiate, the number storage capacity is large (I have no idea what the limit is, but I haven't hit it), and it has the single best feature I've found on any phone: the ability to take a number acquired through Caller ID and add it to your phone book. It has a simple-to-toggle child lock, the base is stylish and small, and it uses 1.2V standard rechargeable batteries in the handset--when the included NiCads gave up after about a year, I replaced them with NiMH batteries and doubled the off-hook time without affecting the phone's performance. I don't know how available these phones are anymore, and I don't know why other people have had so many problems with them. I do know that when the time comes to replace this phone, I'll look for another Siemens. This phone promises a lot, and for me it has delivered every time.

Review: Siemens is a company with a great reputation for hi end equipment, but this phone system is a bad product. On the positive side, the features and functionality of the whole base station idea are fantastic. On the negative side: 2.4 GHz is notorious for microwave interference (I can attest to this), the range was no more than my old 900MHz, callers would daily complain of my voice "digitizing" or "strobing" to the point where I had to get on a hard line phone, the handset is too thin to attempt to cradle between your head and neck. Customer service is commendable, but I sent back every phone including the base set once and am still having problems. Don't buy this phone system.

Review: These phones do not last for more than 2 years. At the end of 2 years, Siemens would like you to buy another one. Do you feel like making money for Siemens just to get a cool phone? I hope not.

Summary: A lot of money for a lousy phone
Review: This phone has been very disappointing. The range is less than
the Sony 900Mhz that this phone was supposed to replace. Battery life is very low. The worst problem is the intermittent audio dropouts. It'll work for a while, then the person on the other end only hears every other word. I've hear rumors that there is a poor design of the contacts in this phone, but find no solid proof. The replacement phone that Siemens sent had the same problem. On the bright side, Siemens agreed to send a 2420 to replace this piece of junk. Good customer service, but a lousy phone.

Summary: Great phone, well worth the price
Review: This phone is fantastic. Clear as a bell, works all around the house. The only feature I miss (from the 900MHz Spread Spectrum it's replacing) is the voice mail message waiting notification. I've read the other reviews, and can only say I'm in the very positive side. The base is on the 2nd floor with a handset. I've got another handset on the first floor. No buzz, no hiss, no snap, no crackle and no pop . Mine is a re-manufactured unit that supposedly only had the software updated to the latest. It does have features that are NOT in the manual and are contrary to what some other reviewers have said. For example, the caller id DOES show up while the phone is ringing. It hasn't missed one yet that I know about. It's call log is the same as my AT&T caller ID box. You can re-name the base station or handset. You can set it to only go to one base station or try for 2 different base stations, etc. I don't know why some folks are having problems with their units, but I'm not one of them. Great phone, well worth the price.

Summary: Bland design, nice shape and works well
Review: Unfortunately, the colors of the handset (black buttons and grey body) and the blank base unit face with one button and an unattractive decal make for a bland looking phone. The European Seimens products are much more attractive (contrasting colors on the handsets and stylish decal-free base sets).I decided to get a 2.4 Ghz phone when our old 900 Mhz phone from Southwest Bell could not find an open channel on which to make a call and other times would make horrible noises on the line and lose the call. The Seimens phone does not do these things, which is nice. I like the flexibility of placing additional handsets even where there is no phone jack. The only problems encountered so far is that callers sometimes hear only partially what is being said. When I switch to the other handset, the problem goes away. I switch back to the other handset and there is not a problem. Weird. The people who complain about the static should make sure they are not installing the base unit next to a microwave or cell phone. This is outlined in the manual. Programming the phone is no more difficult than other cordless phones. I still have some trouble understanding the base unit concept which is not explained very well in the manual. I also like the wide range of volume control. Other phones just have two settings for this. You can adjust the tone and pitch and volume of the ring to a variety of combinations. You can also set each handset to its own unique ring. Overall, the quality of the product and the features are worth the price (even with the bland styling).

Summary: No serious problems
Review: We've had this phone for about 2 years now and have encountered no problems - other than flakey Caller ID which seems to not work half the time. Reception is good. Range is fine for our needs (can walk to the mail boxes two houses down). Really, I don't know why so many other people have had problems. My only concern is that we want another handset and I'm not sure where to get one. The price is a bit on the high side, though, IMO.

Summary: Nice features, but it keeps breaking.
Review: When I first got this phone, I was in love with it. It was the perfect thing for our apartment. I needed a phone in the second bedroom, but I didn't want to run a new jack in the room because there was too much furniture that would have needed to be moved. The supplemental handset which doesn't need a phone jack worked out perfectly. The first week we had the system, the main handset broke when the power button got stuck. I figured this was a fluke and that someone was probably just too rough with it. Amazon quickly replaced the dead unit with no problems. Now after a little over a year, the replacement handset has broken as well. It won't even turn on. If this was a cheaper unit I'd say ok - you get what you pay for, but considering the price of the system, I think you should get much more than a year's worth of use out of it.
