Summary: Too annoying for me
Review: 6/18/04
Bought this phone last night. So far, I am pleased with it. I received a call on the corded base, and sound quality was really good.
I used the cordless extension to call my elderly, hard-of-hearing grandmother and she told me that on her end I sounded crystal clear and loud enough for her to make out every word.
My only current complaint is the faint clicking sound in the background as the cordless stays in touch with the base.

I'll write another review in a few weeks or so if there are any new developments (ie, short battery life as other reviewers mentioned).

Summary: A Better Phone
Review: I bought this phone almost 2 years ago and never had a problem with either the cordless handset, nor the corded base. It has a lot of great features, and a good price for those who do not want to pay a high price for the 5.8 phone systems that are now out.

My Only complaint is that when you need to replace parts ( I need to replace the cordless base as it got liquid in it and shorted out ). GE and other companies need to always give support for replacements for a period of 5 years ( total length of time including warranty time ), and that includes internal parts for those that are savy enough to make inside repairs. This rule should apply to all manufaturers and all consumer products.

I am buying the very same phone system for my sister.

Another note. When you buy products that run on battery, please make sure the battery inside is new as all phone batteries should be replaced each year to assure continued quality.

Summary: Great phone with extra cordless phone
Review: I have had this for about 4 months and it it awesome. Its cheaper than any other phone on the market with an added cordless phone.

I always leave it in the charger, so the other person's review does not apply to me. One plus is that if the power in your household goes, the phone still works. (Not the cordless, but the stationary phone)
You can check messages remotely.
The other party never complains that I am on a cordless (A good trait)

A drawback:
The answering machine does not have a 9v battery backup. And I believe if the power goes, you lose your messages.
It would be nice if you could redirect the call to another phone, but I have yet to find a phone for the consumer that does.

Conclusion:
Phones w/ cordless cost alot. This one was the cheapest by far, it is a reputable brand (GE) and I have been very happy with it.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE
Review: The battery life on this phone is criminal. If the cordless handset is left off of the base for more than 24 hours it loses its charge. I returned it to the store where it was purchased and exchanged it for the same model. Once again, this handset would not stay charged either, and this was after carefully following the directions on initially charging it for an extended period of time. The final straw was when I charged the handset for a full 48 hours, and yet the battery was low after less than 15 minutes of talk time.

Summary: Too annoying for me
Review: This phone is lacking a very important feature; a flashing light to tell you that you have a message waiting! Instead you have to physically walk over to the phone constantly and view the display. Our previous GE corded phone had such a light which was such an obviously needed feature that I just assumed this model would too.
Another very annoying attribute of this phone is that it makes a loud beep each time you press a button to dial a number. Its so loud that everyone in the house will know that your making a call. Its too bad, every home needs one corded phone, but this one is just too annoying for everyday use.

Summary: Not worth it
Review: When this phone first came out, I was really excited- I wanted a corded, but needed a cordless along with the features it had.
Within six months, the speaker blew. Now- I can only hear my messages if I retrieve them through the cordless and obviously I can't use the speakerphone; highly inconvenient. In addition,
the cordless has really poor battery life.
I'm now in the market for another phone and will not buy any GE or Southwestern bell.
