Summary: DON'T DO IT!
Review: I was just looking for a basic cordless caller I.D. phone, and while I appreciate the minimalist design and particularly the fact that it is packed without styrofoam or a bunch of plastic baggies, THIS PHONE HAS _TERRIBLE_ SOUND. There is a lot of low-volume background static, and it would start to crackle and pop only 20-25 feet from the base. My old 900MHz has far superior sound and range. Incidentally, the design of the buttons on the handset makes for difficult programming and scrolling through menus.

I am very disappointed, and will have to resign myself to buying one of the silly shiny phones that looks like a space shuttle control panel.

Summary: Cute little phone - just what I was looking for!
Review: Ok, I'm not too picky about my phones. All I was looking for was a small cordless with call waiting caller id. I wasn't interested in any other features (like answering machine). This phone is in my basement that we just finished. I thought the size was perfect, and it has a nice belt clip for going outside with it, or just walking around. The clarity is good, and I really haven't found anything to complain about. I like the fact that we can expand with additional handsets when we want, which we'll probably do eventually. Also, I'm not one to read directions - and I noticed this red light blinking on top of the phone. It does this for calls that have come in that were registered in it's caller id, and were not answered on that phone. That is a feature I don't need. We have several phones, and don't always answer from the same one. But, I can certainly live with it. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Summary: Pretty good system for the money...
Review: Packed with a lot of basic and practical features, the Siemens 4010 gigaset phone system solves the problem of having too many different phones around the house. This was my problem for quite sometime before I got this product but the first network-able phone systems where expensive. Luckily, there now quite a few models and brands to choose from their respective prices have gone down considerably.

The 4010 has great sound quality and so far, attracts little or no static at all in most call situations. The handset is nicely designed and comfortable to hold and ergonomically works when held up to your ear. It has good weight and possesses a footprint very similar to a cell phone. I particularly like this unlike the bulkier handsets that are available today.

Being able to add additional handsets to one base unit as well as having an easy to read, backlit LCD screen are some of the 4010's major strengths. If you are one who is used to programming a cell phone, the 4010 is quite easy to program.

It's menus, despite being unconventional and odd in it's interface, can be adapted to quite quickly with some help from the set-up manual.

My main complaints on this phone, which are minor in my opinion, are the lack of any weight or bulk to the base unit, which causes it to slide around when you try to replace the handset . The docking station on the unit itself is oddly angled, and the two docking prongs make it hard to line up the handset and the base unit sometimes.

My other complaint is the odd clicking noise the keypad makes which drives me nuts. (it makes the phone sound like a fisher price kiddie toy) Luckily, this sound can be turned down low enough not get on your nerves.

Other than that, The 4010 is a great system that performs the basic tasks you can ask for in a phone. Available caller id and one touch dialing along with ample storage capacity for names and phone numbers make the 4010 a reliable communication system for the home.

Summary: Not for the technically challeged
Review: Seems some people have trouble using the phone since this is not a phone for those who are looking for a basic cordless phone. This is however a great phone for those who are willing to spend some time learning its features. I'm very happy with mine after my $200 Panasonic phone broke and the company refused to replace it.

Summary: Worthless phone!
Review: Stay away from this product if you have other phones in your house. If you are having a conversation and someone else picks up another phone in the house it will either hang up the Siemens or worse hang up both phones! Called Siemens tech support and they had the audacity to call this a "feature". The only solution to my problem is to buy another Siemens handset. I have crossed out out the name Siemens in any future purchase of any electronic product.

Summary: Good but not great
Review: The 4010 could be a great phone except for a few features that I just couldn't live with. The caller-id doesn't show the caller's name (only the number) after the caller calls in. To see the name, you must go into a submenu. It does show name and number while the call is coming in. Maximum volume was not enough for me, although sound was clear.

Dialing numbers and hitting menu keys was slightly delayed. We regularly missed numbers when dialing at a normal speed. To switch between caller id calls, you must hit the mem key which is a little unusual, but you get used to it. The manual didn't address it, but an insert was provided with the Siemens 4200 handset I ordered at the same time. By the way, the manual had at least 1 page reference error as well.

Overall, a good phone, but I'm a picky, and I couldn't live with these limitations. I returned the phones and opted for 2 more Uniden TRU346's like I already own. A few less features like conferencing, but easier interface and cheaper.

Summary: Not worth the money
Review: The phone itself is complicated to use and set-up, has the most annoying ring I have ever heard and is cheaply made.
I would suggest buying a Sony or Panasonic instead. I sent mine back.

Summary: Worst phone I have ever owned
Review: This phone is so poorly designed that I have nothing positive to say about it except that it is small. It rings very annoyingly and chirps loudly for no reason when you do something like simply hanging it up - try hanging up the phone while someone is sleeping in the next room, and you'll have problems. It has an incomprehensible menu, and the handset goes dead when it runs out of battery charge without any warning. That's the only time it DOESN'T make any noise. It runs out of batteries very quickly, so this happens often. You won't see all of these irritating features until you actually get your hands on this phone after purchase, so don't waste your time or money.
