Summary: Battery life issues are strange, but can be avoided
Review: I recently acquired a 2.4Ghz Panasonic cordless phone after seeing one my parents have had the last 5 months and being very impressed with the features. I wanted to post this because I've seen the many reviews complaining of poor battery life.

My question for all the people experiencing problems: Did you leave the phone charging on the base unit while you weren't using it? If so, you should understand this. For whatever reason, these phones appear to be counterintuitively designed so that the battery lasts longer when NOT left on the base unit.

And in fact, my owner's manual for model KXZ-TG2355 states this under the Battery Information section: "If the battery is fully charged, you do not have to place the handset on the base unit until 'Recharge battery' is displayed and/or [the battery indicator] flashes. This will maximize battery life."

So although this is a very strange way of designing a phone, it regardless is not something Panasonic doesn't address in its manual, and therefore it can be avoided. Don't leave the phone charging until it needs it! I hope this review will help balance the many complaints from people who advise against getting these phones because their batteries have inexplicably gone dead.

Summary: Horrible battery life
Review: I would have to agree with all of the other reviews here -- the battery life on this is just horrendous after a few months, even if you use it exactly as instructed. It is better to avoid this phone. I really wish they had used a lithium ion battery instead. I wasted a lot of money on this purchase.

Summary: Battery is AWFUL and phone too complicated
Review: I've had this phone for over a year and the battery life is awful. It has a very short battery life; it will go dead during a conversation even though the handset says it is fully charged. It is also too complicated and scrolls through the menu very slowly. Panasonic's customer service was poor. This phone is a waste of money.

Summary: Good phone, highest volume isn't very loud.
Review: I've owned this phone for over a year. I've had little trouble with the battery life. (Maybe I don't make very long phone calls.) I have found it easy to operate and program. I do have an issue, though -- the loudest volume control setting isn't very loud. I also find that meesage playback can be a little garbled as well. I can usually make things out, but there is something noticeably wrong. I am considering replacing the phone.

Summary: Buyer beware
Review: If you purchase this product, I hope you are completely satisfied. It is my opinion that the reliability of Panasonic products has slipped in recent years, and this was confirmed to me when a product I purchased quickly failed. The reason I'm posting this is to warn you that the warranty that accompanies Panasonic products only has value if the company chooses to stand behind it. In my case, they weaseled out of it, leaving me with a total loss and no further recourse. Good luck with your decision.

Summary: LISTEN TO THE BATTERY WARNINGS - I DIDN'T !
Review: Ive just recently bought this phone to replace another Radio Shack phone that broke on me. When i was reading the reviews that other customers submitted, i was a bit nervous that the battery would be bad. This infact is not the case at all. Ive had the phone for about 3 weeks now and i talk on the phone every single day for hours to my boyfriend. So far, the battery has never been low. Dont listen to those other people who had a bad experience with this phone. I'm telling you from my own experience that it's a very good phone indeed.

Summary: Battery Life is Bad
Review: On the good side, its one of the few two-line cordless phone answering machines I could find for a reasonable prince. And, the handset is comfortable to use -- not too big, not too small. However, the battery life is bad. I've had the phone for a year, and just put the third replacement battery in. Within two or three months, the battery will be worn out to the point that it will give me a low battery signal when I've been talking for 1/2 hour or less. And (presumably because they need to be replaced so often), I have had difficulty finding the replacements - even on the Panasonic website. I am going to replace this phone soon. Avoid it.

Summary: You have voice mail - not.
Review: Opps, you won't know if you have any messages unless you develop a Pavlovian response to look at the phone everytime you see it. No audible alert. Buyer beware.

Summary: LISTEN TO THE BATTERY WARNINGS - I DIDN'T !
Review: Owning an electronics firm, I didn't think I had to pay attention to the Reviews warning of battery problems. However, within three months, I experienced a short battery life that finally diminished to less than 12 hours. The people who rave about the phone, DIDN'T wait long enough to see the problem. I called Panasonic and they sent me another battery, but this one died in the same manner. Now it is my opinion, that Panasonic, a ver smart company, KNOWS about this problem, and it is in EVERY one of these phones. There are only three possible problems: 1) the batteries are no good. or 2) the charging circuit or handset circuit is defective in EVERY board they put in, or 3) the design is faulty and draws too much current. It is also my opinion, that Panasonic is trying to get you OUTSIDE of your Warranty period so you don't have a claim. Anyways, heed the WARNINGS and 1) Don't buy the phone, or 2) If you have already bought it, return it or tell Panasonic you want a DIFFERENT model replacement, and if need be, issue a chargeback on your Credit Card.
