Summary: Sound quality
Review: I recently purchased the 2415 with 2 additional hansets and am very dissapointed with the sound quality for this type phone (2.4). The system has lot's of bells & whistles and great funtionality but the sound quality is terrible. The 1st base unit was exchanged a week ago because as you were talking, other person's words would get chopped off and was not understandable. Seimens stated was a bad unit and return. The new one I got now has a hissing (Static) noise and tunnel noise on base and all handsets. Great phone concept but key functional elements are poor. Going to exchange again tomorrow one more time and if I have same problem, all goes back for something that works..........

Summary: Just bought it, great so far
Review: I've only had the phone a few days, but so far it's worked just fine and I love the design. We'll see if it develops any problems over time.Previous to this, I had an absolute fiasco with AT&T phones. They wouldn't ring half the time, the answering machine would cut people off after a couple of seconds if you weren't screaming at it, stuff like that. Tried 3 different models, and they were all horrible. This phone, the only other phone I've found with comparable features, is miles ahead of the AT&T. It's definitely designed around the handset, most features are not accessible from the base. Not a problem for me. This seems to follow the trend of most gadgets these days, such as stereo equipment where almost everything's on the remote and on-screen. A note about the batteries: The phone comes with standard AA NiCad rechargeable batteries (a plus that they're standard, instead of the batteries wrapped in a little pack like most phones use). The "battery memory" is a phenomenon of NiCad batteries, it doesn't really have anything to do with the phone. If you want to avoid this, switch to Nickel Metal Hydride batteries, they don't have the memory problem. Anyway, I'll report back if any problems do develop.

Summary: Bad Reception
Review: I was very disappointed with this phone. I had reception problems from day 1, and the problem only got worse a few weeks later. I placed two calls to Siemens technical support in an effort to fix the problem. They took me through the derestering process and even reset the default factory settings. Nothing worked. Don't buy this phone!

Summary: The most Reliable cordless I've ever owned
Review: I've owned this unit now for almost a year and I would say it is hands down the most reliable cordless phone I've ever had. I was told that the battiers would run down faster than should be expected but I don't think it's out of the norm. Matter of fact my family usually forgets to put it in the base unit at night and it usually goes a few days use without much worry. I just purchased new rechargable batteries last month... not bad for a years worth of use. My only wish would be.... that this phone could handle distinctive ring calls differently. All that to say that I'm back at Amazon ordering anyother handset, Yep it's worth the price.

Summary: Dissapointed with product....
Review: I bought my first 2415 over a year ago and I am almost on my third one right now. I've been totally frustrated with this product and I've had to return it for a replacement once before and I'm about to return the replacement phone for another replacement because the sampe problems keep cropping up. I would have refunded it if I had that option but I'ts been too long since I first purchased the phone. My problems with this phone are: Firstly, the software built into the handset is not intuitive and is a bit hard to navigate. Even to check the caller ID you have to first go to the menu. In addition, the caller ID function shows 'unavailable' on every second screen, even when other caller ID sets on the same phone line does not. Another example is that it takes about 20 keystrokes to completely turn the ringer off. But those aren't major problems, you learn to live with it. Also not a major problem but one that still needs attention is the actual shape and smoothness of the phone. Although it looks cool, there is no comfortable way to grip this phone and it has to be held tightly when held to your ear because the finish is so smooth it can easily slide out of your hand. This becomes a problem on long conversations because the hand muscles become fatigued from that tight grip. But on to the real problems. The paging system used to locate the handset from the base works only about 10% of the time. When you really need to use your cordless phone, that can be very frustrating. And it has nothing to do with the distance between the base and the handset. This feature just doesn't work. But worst of all is the answering machine. On both phones the answering machine worked fine at first. After a few months of use it develops the most annoying problem. It terminates recording the incoming call long before the caller stops speaking! In addition, the caller on the other end is unaware of this because the line doesn't beep for another 30 seconds or so. There is a lot that can be said in 30 seconds! So your caller hangs up thinking that they left you a message when in fact the machine records only about 5 seconds worth... just enough to let you know that your answering machine messed up again. Imagine that your message says "Daddy it's me. The car is broken down and I'm at a pay phone. The number here is 404-....beeep". You get the picture. That's what most of my messages sound like. Plus remember the caller doesn't even know that the recording was terminated. It's easy to imagine how this could cause problems.

Summary: Not as bad as some reviews indicate
Review: I have had a few problems with this unit but all were solved by visiting the Siemens website and reading the FAQs. The worst was an infrequent staccato-like break-up of my voice. By re-registering the handset this seems to have gone away, but I am still reserving my judgement. Also, the phone had the annoying habit of claiming that the batteries were drained when I knew thay were fully charged. It seems you must charge them fully and then keep the phone off the charger until they drain fully before charging them again, so that the phone's recharging algorithm can "learn" how much charge the batteries can take. This is a pretty strange process to go through, but it seems to work. I don't use the caller ID feature so I can't comment on that. The main reason I bought this phone was because of the abilty to add extra handsets and put them in parts of the house that don't have phone jacks - and on that account I am completely satisfied. The phone has good sound quality, but the microphone is more sensitive than any other phone I have ever had and the caller can hear much more background noise as a result. The quality of the answering machine messages are very good - as good as the taped messages on my old machine. I found the phone easy to set up and adding numbers to the directory was a breeze. The phone even sent the entries to my other handset (Gigaset 2400), so I didn't need to enter them twice. The menus are easy to navigate through. I can take the phone outside and check the mailbox (about 150 feet and 2 walls away from the base station) while not losing any sound quality. The phone is slim enough that I find it uncomfortable to hold for long periods and it is difficult to hold it between your ear and shoulder if you need both hands for something else, but if you do that a lot at least you have the option of an earpiece. So, overall I had a couple problems that seem to be fixed with a little effort. I won't rave about this phone, but I would recommend it to someone who needs the ability to add extra handsets.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I was excited at the prospect of purchasing multiple phones and using only a single base unit and wired connection to run all of them. Each of them would have caller ID built in, and all would be 2.4GHz. How convenient, I thought. However, once I received the phone, I had the terrible problem of "white noise" which wouldn't go away. I was also horribly disappointed in the battery life of this phone. Literally 8 hours of average standby/talk time, and the handset would have to be returned to the base. One other fairly silly, but inconvenient issue with this phone is that it's sleek design can be hard to grip at times. I found it slipping out of my grip (or from between my head and shoulder) many times in the 4 weeks I've owned it. I would not recommend this phone in any situation. There is far too much competition in the cordless phone market to sacrifice quality, especially at this price.

Summary: Don't even think of buying this!
Review: I bought one and exchanged it with the same item after the first one was discovered to be defective (discovered by the tech. support people after three calls!). Now they also recommend that I exchange the second one while admitting that there are "issues" with caller ID's. The issues I had: caller ID and call-waiting caller ID sometimes do not work, battery drains unexpectedly (from full to zero), often can not find base, etc. I was even told that I should not have put the handset back on the base when they lost contact! Tech support indicated that this would cause the batteries develop memory! So just wait till they find each other. All these problems occured within a week for both phones. So I returned the second one as well.

Summary: Should have listened
Review: Like so many other people who bought this phone even after reading bad reviews, I too was suckered by the cool styling and new capabilities. Siemens needs to take these phones off the market until they can improve the clarity, or at the very least, should drop the price by 50%. I bought this phone with the knowledge that many people were extremely unhappy with it, but I chose to listen to the few who liked it. I tried every phone jack in my home (nine different locations) and just could not get a clear signal. Callers voices faded in and out, and I was told that my voice was distant and fuzzy. My old phone is a thiry dollar cordless Vtech and it is quite clear, it just doesn't have any bells and whistles. It seems that Siemens' engineers have forgotten that clarity is priority when designing a phone. If you and your caller can't hear each other, what purpose do all the extra functions serve?

Summary: Well, it ain't perfect, but it ain't all that bad.
Review: In looking for a 2.4Ghz to replace my Vtech 900Mhz, I read many reviews. While no one phone seemed to sweep me away, I kept coming back to the Siemens phone. I'll admit, the styling and aesthetics appealed to me far more than the Panasonic, which seemed to me the only other phone in the running. While the Siemens has some issues, it's a pretty good phone. Here are the issues: 1. When there is a new message, the light blinks. However, all other times, the light is on. This normally means that the answering machine is on, however if your roomate has already checked the messages, you have no overt way of knowing that there are now messages on there. You can check the display on the handset, it isn't hard, but it would have been nice. 2. The buttons are pretty gummie. There is no real way to describe it, but the buttons are like walking in one of those inflate-a-rooms at the carnaval. You never really know how much pressure to apply. 3. There are a few other Usabilities concerns, but their impact begins to diminish quickly after those two, at least in my eyes. On the whole, this phone is pretty cool. It's clear as a bell, and has range to spare. I took the garbage out and was fine. I live on the 2nd floor of a 3 floor brownstone which is a respectable hike. I'd recommend it, and I think that it's about time someone came up with a home phone that can give my Nokia cell phone a run for it's money with functionality.
