Summary: Totally Awsome!
Review: I love this phone! I bought it about 9 months ago, and I have had no problems. I love it b/c it is durable, my 19 month old constantly drops it, throws it, and chews on it, and it just keeps on going. I like that I can take it to my nieghbors and recieve calls, and I like the "ringer off" button when telemarketers call, I can just turn off the ringer and not be bothered. I also like the easy locking keypad. Excellent feature for parents of little ones! I like the ease of storing numbers, redialing, and most of the other daily features. This is an excellent deal! You must have it!

Summary: It was not love at first sight...
Review: I purchased the 4215 about a year ago based on a recommendation from my sister who checked out several multi function cordless phones, and thought the Seimen's had the best quality. I was impressed by the product line and the features as well as the compact size. I soon bought a 4200 and am about to purchase a third.
I needed tech support(I rate excellent)because I could not figure out(among many other things) how to "flash". This is NOT an "easy" machine!
About ten months ago, quite unexpectedly the main unit accidently got mixed up in the towels and went through an entire hot laundry cycle. When I found it at the bottom of the tub, I took out the batteries and wrapped the phone in a small towel then put it in an oven of 200 degrees for an hour or so,then I put it on the charger and I got a dial tone! It works perfectly as it did a year ago. The design also hold up to the test of time as they look new with very little effort. Exellent speaker phone, and voice recognition. No headphone jack and a weird caller ID system that is easy to forgive. If you want quality, loaded with features on a cordless multi handset phone this is the one. I have learned to love it.

Summary: not reliable
Review: I purchased the 4215 phone and one extra receiver 4200. I liked it very much but only when it actually worked. The LCD on 4215 broke after only 2 or 3 weeks of using it and the charger on 4200 stopped recharging TWICE. After exchanging the phones twice I am returning the whole system to the store. I called Siemens to get a new charger but was told they are "out of them". hmmm... I wonder why...

Summary: Great phone, small warning
Review: I purchased this phone about 6 months ago, and have nothing but rave reviews, it has replaced my alarm clock, and the speech dialing and speakerphone are unbeatable. All that is missing from this phone is a 2.5" jack. The only warning I have is that, while the range is excellent at home, the school I attend recently installed an 802.11b network, and it appears to interefere with the reception. Whenever I walk past the room which contains the antenna the phone cuts off. I am sure it is the network to blame due to the fact that in the first weeks of school the network was down, and I recieved perfect reception.

Summary: Confusing
Review: I wanted a portable phone and ordered the 4200 Gigaset. When it arrived, I saw that this was actually a supplementary unit and won't work without a compatible base station unit. That will teach me to read the fine print next time. There is a wide variation in pricing on the matching units, but it's tough to tell the real difference between any of them. Also some of the units use NiCad batteries (and the listing indicates that they do) while others probably use Li-Ion batteries (but the listing doesn't specifically indicate that). NiCad batteries never seem to last and I won't buy a device that uses them. I am surprised at how difficult a process this has been. I haven't used it yet (need that base station), but gave it only three stars because if it's this confusing just to buy one, I am not confident that the user experience will be any more pleasant.

Summary: Caller ID 2.5
Review: I was a former developer of this product line. The development was moved from the USA to Germany. As far as the term "Caller ID 2.5", in order to enable the feature, you need to ask for "Caller ID Deluxe" service with the phone companies.

Caller ID 2.5 is a compromise between 2.0 and 3.0. Since the phone didn't have the display required for 3.0, the feature was implemented in the buttons on the 8825 base and the menus of the handsets like in other Caller ID boxes, but it is not a standard term recognized by phone companies.

I purchased the phone for its speakerphone capabilities.

Summary: Don't Buy this phone!
Review: I've bought two of these phones and the base is defective. Both times the base went dead and Siemens would not fix stating that it was and act of god(power fluctuations). The second time I purchased I owned the phone less than 60 days!

Siemens customer service Sucks!

Summary: Cell phone features for the house!
Review: I've had this phone, and two extra handsets, for a year now, and have really enjoyed it. The range is excellent, and the phones are really feature packed. One feature I use often is the voice dial -- just push a button and say the name of the person you want to call, and the phone dials the number for you. Also, the phone will announce who is calling after the second ring. I've not had any problems with battery life, and am still using the original batteries that came with it -- which are just AA rechargeables, not some $15 special "battery pack" that most other cordless phones use, so when they do go out, I can easily pick up a set at any store. Plus the voice mailbox function works with just the push of a button -- we have the Verizon voice mail system with our package, and don't need the one in the phone, but it works seamlessly.

Summary: THE BEST PHONE QUALITY/DESIGN/PERFORMANCE YET
Review: If you are shopping for a new phone, this one will exceed ALL your expectations. This phone could be easily sold in [higher monitary]range and still beat any competitors.
For [money]it's a STEAL. PLUS you get Voice Activation and Digital Answering Machine for FREE.
Honestly, to fully utilize the potential of this phone you need to get familiar with rather thick product manual. But most operations are intuitive.
Before I purchased this phone I did quite a bit of a research on top of the line models from Panasonic, Sony, etc.
This Siemens 4215 won with a large gap after all comparisons.
When I received this phone I was OVERWHELMED with all the futures as wel as design and built quality.
I must note that this phone uses AA rechargable batteries which gives you:
Pros: Cheap to replace and easy to find.
Cons: Batteries do not last long on one charge and require often recharging.

Again, I Strongly Recommend this wonderful unit from Siemens.
