Summary: Wonderful phone...very happy with purchase
Review: I bought this to replace my last uniden that had a problem with the buttons not *connecting* when i pushed them. When I went out looking for a new phone I was trying to get a phone without the same kind of lighted large round buttons that had the problem but most of the phones (uniden and all the others) had this kind. This phone has smaller (but not tiny) not lighted buttons but the large orange display lights the area enough for me to make a call if its dark. The large orange display is very easy to read and you don't have to be right on top of the phone to see it. Excellent! It has the standard features like *flash* (but the flash button is nice and big), last number redial (the last 3 in fact), speed dial, caller id and call waiting caller id, etc. A feature that I haven't had before that I appreciate very much is a flashing light that lets me know that i have a phone call in my voice mail. This is wonderful as sometimes I would come home and if i didnt pick up the phone I wouldnt know. Having voice mail and not an answering machine sometimes I miss messages but with this I won't. I didnt even know they could do this and I think its great. There are also different ring tones (like cell phones) besides the standard rings and I can't wait to play the holiday ring tone in December. This unit came with 2 phones and a base unit that you can make calls on. I wanted 2 phones so someone wouldnt be constantly be taking the phone downstairs when I needed it upstairs or visa versa. Now I have one in each place. Great! I could have bought a system with *add-able* phones but frankly this was much more cost effective. Many units where you has to purchase the second handset came to more initially (with the cost of the second unit being in the range of $50-$80. I am very happy with my purchase. This is probably the third of 4th uniden phone I have bought and while they were all good this one is clearly the best and the sound is wonderful. I cant tell this phone from a lined phone.

Summary: I Am Not Impressed
Review: I have owned this phone for about 14 months and I was never very satisfied with the voice quakity or the range. The real disappointment came just a few days ago - the second handset no longer operates. It is completely dead and will not charge, even though I replaced the $15 battery pack. I think I will go back to 2.4 ghz technology and stick with phones under $100.

Summary: No problems... Good phone...
Review: I have owned this phone for three months now. I haven't had any problems with it. I have never heard any static and have never been disconnected. It is clear and convenient. Using the telephone directory in the phone is slightly cumbersome, but the rocket dial is nice. I am unsure of the range for I have not tested its limits. However, I have never experienced problems from anywhere within my bi-level home. I would recommend it. The only problem I had was with ordering it. It took nearly two months before Amazon[.com] shipped it to me. But I've been happy every since... The speaker phone works fine. How many people reviewing here really have this phone? It just came out in November 2002...

Summary: High price for little features
Review: I wanted a 5.8Ghz phone, due to the fact my current cordless phones and WiFi run on 2.4Ghz. So I got the Uniden TRU5885-2 only to find out that it didn't do wait my current phones do - intercom, from handset to handset or to base. Just a page/call transfer feature. I found out how handy intercom was with my 2.4Ghz phone, when you're in back yard and the other is in the house, you don't have to yell out the window to talk, just intercom with the phones. Also it didn't have a "line in use" light/led, so you didn' know if someone is having a conversation before picking up and dialing...really annoying there. Other then that, which I deemed very important; I'm spoiled now yes, but for the price of these phones, not worth it. I'll look around more and/or wait to see if other models come out with all the cool features one might require in a $200 phone without going to a multi-line system.

Summary: The speakerphone on the base did not work
Review: I was very happy to get this 5.8GHz uniden phone. But when I started to use it the first day the speaker phone on the base did not work. I had to return it. I will most probably settle for a 2.4 GHz with another company.

Summary: One reason not to buy
Review: I've had this phone for about a year and it's functions and appearance are better than the AT&T, Uniden, and Siemens phones I previously purchased; HOWEVER, the only reason I don't care for this phone is because the highest volume level is still way too low. The rest of the features are very modern and wonderful, but how can you enjoy it, if you can't hear anyone????

+ Remote message retrieval (especially nice w/ above feature)
+ Intuitive base controls. Finally a decent user interface on a phone's base station.
+ Handsets are quite durable, surviving a few unplanned trips to the kitchen floor from the counter without damage. Bad kitty! - Unit doesn't support more than two handsets. Here's the bombshell:
- You can't use both handsets at the same time. Let me say that again: only one handset can be in use at any given time! If you want more than one person to take part in your side of the conversation, you have to use the speaker phone function of one of the handsets, or use one handset and the speaker phone built into the base station. It's that last little gem of a drawback that makes me give 4 out of 5 stars. This would be my ultimate phone if not for that.

Summary: sudden low battery cut-out
Review: Overall, this is a pretty good phone and I'm going to stick with it (despite buying and dumping two or three similar phones in the past). The reception is good and the construction is solid.
The only problem after several months of use is that the battery dies suddenly without warning and I usually loose the call. It starts beeping, then a few seconds later the call is gone. I wish it gave like a one minute morning or something.

Summary: I love this phone!
Review: Sound is excellent, and the display is bright and large enough for the aging eyes of any baby boomer. Has features compatible with phone service- for example: caller ID, indicator light for voice mail messaging through phone company. Very easy to program. Large memory. Variety of ring tones that can be set to identify incoming calls. There are 2 handsets, but in effect 3 phones in this package because the base is a speaker phone with a full number pad. Each headset, and the base, has its own separate memory database. You can literally store 200+ numbers. (Each handset holds 100 numbers- including those in memory and those in the caller ID list. If you store 50 numbers, your caller ID capacity is 50 numbers, etc. The base can store 10; there is no caller ID on the base.) I bought this model for myself, and then one for my 70-something parents. They love it too.
