Summary: Somewhere in the middle
Review: I bought the CyberGenie thinking it was the answer to all my telephone prayers. It does have a lot of wonderful features, nearly everything I'd want. I had a hard time getting 2 lines working with an external fax and didn't get any help from tech support. Tech support isn't very supportive. My main complaint is the handsets. I wish there was a variety to choose from. I wrote to Cygnion about that and they never acknowledged my suggestion. I too had trouble with the range, but got a USB Extention and moved the base away from my computer and nearer the ceiling and it works pretty well now, though no where near 900 feet. I have a 2000 sq. ft. bakery / cafe and it works all around the bakery. The handsets aren't really loud enough when it's noisy here. I wish they offered a desk phone option, speaker phone option, and just a louder ring option. It's working pretty well, but I have yet to find the perfect answer.

Summary: Lack Of Feature Makes me move on...
Review: I bought this from Office Depot when it first came out. The biggest problem was the display for Caller ID doesn't show the Name. Its no convenient since I have $90 Sony and Panasonic cordless phones that have NAME and NUMBER on the handset... I called Cygnion and they blamed the phone company. My patience wore thin and I returned it. Bought the 2.4 gig Panasonic and it does all that I need....

Summary: CyberGenie Review
Review: I ordered a base system with 4 additional handsets. Theinstallation was done step by step with the book and I had no problemsgetting the system and all 5 handsets working in the first 20 minutes. My wife and kids now have their own handset and I have one additional one that we will use in our bedroom. The system is very powerful as I discovered further into the book. I highly recommend this system for anyone that wants the power of a highly computer integrated phone system that can deal with your calls professionally while interfacing directly to your email and faxes. It still puts a big grin on my face when CyberGenie calls my cell phone and reads my email to me! END

Summary: Poor Reception
Review: I too agree that this product sounded great. Many neat features including a personal response to solicitation calls. Installation was a breeze on Windows 2000. Voice recognition seemed to work great (for the little time we ended up keeping the unit.) When it came to operation the range was awful. The rating of 900 feet is nothing more than a bold lie. Our house is roughly 2800 square feet. I could not clearly talk on the phone when the base was on one side of the house and the phone was on the other. The company gives all sorts of tips for placement of the base however keeping in mind it works with a computer and only has a 9 ft USB cable the realistic options are not the preferred.

We honestly tried many different placements of the base and the results were only minimally better. Based on another reviewers experience with Tech Support we chose not to waste our time contacting them but rather just to return the unit.

Hopefully in the near future another company will expand on this concept and put some better hardware with it. Advise to prospective buyers, don't wait for an improved model. If you can't wait an must try make sure you have the option of a no questions return.

Summary: She's GREAT but only if you're willing to spend some time .
Review: I've owned this system for over 2 years, and have 10 handsets "working", more or less. It's a fabulous product IF you're willing to get to know it. "High maintenance" would best describe what you need to do to get all the features working. If you rely on just the Users' Guide, you'll probably pack it up and return it. BUT - if you're patient, and use the Cygnion website forum to get answers to questions, you'll find the things you're struggling with will probably work, you just need to know the magic tricks that other users have figured out. All the features listed DO really work. But without the forum and usergroup (MSN) you'd be lost. I actually love the system, and while I'm running it in my home rather than a small business, I needed a system that had expandability up to 10 handsets that was affordable. It was a "steal" for the price I paid for this 10 handset system. I use the handsets as intercoms to page family members on different levels of the house. It will do everything for you except fold your laundry. But you'll need to be patient with her.

Summary: Poor Range
Review: On the outside, this looked like a great product. The published range was up to 900 feet; however, when used in fairly friendly conditions, [inside a wood frame home] the max useable range was more like 80 feet - what a dissappointment. When trying to work with the technical assistance, they had only minimal suggestions and finally said "tough luck". I don't think they know what they are doing. I will wait for further developments and perhaps things will improve.

Summary: cygnion Review
Review: The folks at Cygnion think that they have a product like no other and they are wrong. There is another system that will not require to have your computer running none stop and will not require a certain type of phone that you can use and it will let you use your existing phones. For instance with cybergenie you have to use their phones or the system wont function. And then will the cybergenie hook and run properly with any computers? The answer is no, they want you to go thru all the software soft paks and they do not work. Also compaq is useing AMD boards in some of their newer computers, So guess what is not working? You guessed it cybergenie. Also they say that the least ram to run is 64mg. Well if you are running only 64 mg dont run anything else,The cybergenie will loose connectivity if ya try to go online it wont let you online or it will make your system lock up. Now there is nothing wrong with AMD system, But if the system board is not running intel there will be problems.

Summary: Very poor range...
Review: These phones have horrible range. You will get further range from a $20 cordless phone from Radio Shack. I was only able to go 30-40 feet away from the base. I even wasted $30 on an USB extension to put the base at the top of the ceiling away from all other electronic devices. That only gave me maybe 10 more feet. I returned the phones and just got some Engenius phones and I LOVE THEM! They go 1/2+ mile easily through the neighborhood and I am going to purchase the outside optional antennae for long range. The fancy features on the CyberGenie hardly ever worked for me. The voice commands would work less than 5% of the time. This product has a lot of good ideas put into it, but it cuts corners to save money. It is not worth buying and you will end up returning it for better quality phones. Luckily, Amazon returning procedures are wonderful and among the best you can ask for.

Summary: not worth buying
Review: this is a cool concept - if it worked.
i used it on with my computer and it kept
malfunctioning. So now it works as standalone
just like a regular phone. only the quality sucks.
the advantages of it are its cool rings
and stylish look. the women love it (uhh yea).
anyway ill probably buy a new phone to replace
this piece of shi-ite.
