Summary: terrible waste of money
Review: Do not buy this phone - it doesn't work. My main problem has been with the answering machine part of the unit. It does not register incoming messages correctly. The messages are either cut off after a few seconds, or are so distorted that they are impossible to understand. But the greater problem is that, half the time, it does not even record the message at all. A person will call and leave a message, but the machine does not record it, and afterward says that zero messages were received.<br />I am very disappointed that this product is still being offered for sale, because the people I have spoken to at Virgin Pulse are aware that these phones have many problems. Why keep duping unsuspecting customers??

Summary: Don't be fooled by the cool looks!
Review: I didn't heed the warning in the other users' comments for this phone and decided to try it myself. I figured the others were being too picky with the phone. I was very wrong. It looks really nice and the British accent for the announcer on the base unit ups the cool factor. That's where the good part stops, though. Everything else is downhill from there. The musical ringtones are too loud and are difficult to listen to, so you're forced to choose one of the 2 normal ringtones. I used the phone once for a 30 minute phone call and while I was talking, I switched between a GE cordless phone to see the difference. The GE phone produced a clearer, more realistic sound while the Virgin phone sounded very tinny and like I was using an old phone. Not too bad, but not too good. The answering machine is really hard to understand. I'm not being too picky about this either. I've used lots of cordless phones with digital answering machines and this one is totally unacceptable. I tried to call my machine once to try it out myself and it cut me off and never registered the call. So my message wasn't on the machine and the caller ID didn't even show that I had called. Completely unacceptable. The last gripe is the blue lights on it. As stated before, they are very cool and add to the looks. But they're way too bright. Don't even think about putting this phone in your bedroom. It literally lights up the whole room at night, no joke! Do not waste your time with this phone. You may think that all of us who didn't like it weren't giving it a chance or were being too picky, but don't fall for that! That's what I thought and I was totally wrong.

Summary: Not bad for 29 bucks
Review: I just bought this at Target and I have to say I couldn't have expected much more for $29. The sound quality of the answering machine isn't perfect, but it's understandable. The sound quality of the phone itself is good. And the design is very cool. It's not perfect, but if you want to spend 80 more dollars, you can get perfect. I don't know where else I could get a 2.4 Ghz phone plus an answering machine that tells me how popular I am for so little.

Summary: Beautiful Piece of Crap
Review: I was so excited to see Virgin's new line of electronics at Target, but I was very disappointed when I brought the cordless phone/answering machine home.

The good news: This machine is beautifully styled and designed as you can see in the picture, with blue lights for the electronic displays, and comfortable in your hand. The English accent is a nice touch on all of the voice messages.

The bad news: As soon as you get about ten feet from the base, you hear static. Also, even when you are near the base there is an echo that sounds like you are talking into a tin can. The messages on the digital answering machine are too faint for you to hear clearly, even with the volume all the way up. The melodic ring tones sound like a theme from a horror movie. When you press the buttons to dial, it sounds like a choo-choo train. And you can only store 10 of your personal phone numbers in the phone.

I debated about taking this back because it looks so cool and I have another phone in the house, but after four days, I couldn't live with it any longer and returned it.

Virgin should have waited to release it if they couldn't get the basics down first.

Summary: Should have read reviews first
Review: Oh my, I purchased this phone online and like a dummy, read the reviews after the fact. Every review was negative and I completely understand why. Your messages are extremely hard to understand, they are chopped up like a cell phone in a tunnel. The "British" voice is barely audible and everyone that calls can barely hear the message. You can hardly hear it ring too. They need to work on this phone because the only cool thing about it is the way it looks. Bad choice on my part!

Summary: Gorgeous ... but needs work
Review: Okay I'll tell you the truth... I bought the phone solely on its looks. I wont lie about that. And the looks have yet to let me down.

So I plug it in, and as expected, it looks fabulous on my dresser. Then I start messing with it... I start hitting buttons on the base to see what it can do, and I hear this voice coming out of it... I couldn't understand a word it was saying. Something about her husband at work. I figured it was a returned phone and they left their message on it.. wrong. It was the horrible computer voice with an english accent saying 'You're talking to a machine, you know what to do' that I figured out after skimming the manual.

So I get past the horrible accent voice and use the phone as usual. I haven't had much of a problem with quality or anything.. and its extremely easy to program.

So I come home today with a new message waiting for me ... I push the play button and the english voice starts yelling 'You are so popular! You have one new message!"... not what I want to hear everytime I listen to my messages. I know I'm popular. I don't need a computer to remind me.

The buttons ...... all buttons are the exact same tone. It's very annoying. I like to know I'm hitting a different button by hearing a different tone. And not only that, but it blares the tone out of the back of the phone, so you are sure to hear the same tone every time ... when I dial out, i usually press it against my bed so I dont have to hear it. I have yet to find any volume adjustment. Silence would be better than this.

Other than that, great simple phone. I like simple. Very few buttons, no nonsense.

If you dont mind feeling like a teenage girl, get the phone. If you are a teenage girl, get the phone. If you dislike hearing computers talk in silly accents everytime you want to do anything, don't get the phone.

Summary: Don't buy it! WASTE OF MONEY!
Review: The answering machine won't pick up over half the time! For some people trying to call me it picks up sometimes, other times it just rings and rings. One of my friends has cannot leave a message from his phone for some reason --- it NEVER lets him leave a message! Not being able to receive messages is a big deal for most people. Also when people can leave messages it rings anywhere from 1-10 times. Sound quality is horrible. This is an unreliable cool looking piece of garbage!

Summary: Great Little Phone on the Cheap
Review: The phone itself does what a phone is supposed to do and does it well. The signal has never dropped out. It's easy to use. Looks great. Easy to read back-lit blue screen. Decent ring tones. The phone actually feels good to hold. Answering machine works fine. It's really a well designed, cheap phone...Final Review: Great looking, no frills, cheap phone with answering machine

Summary: Worst. Phone. Ever.
Review: This thing is bloody awful.

I bought one and had problems with the answering machine--it would not allow me to set the time despite foolproof instructions. It also cut the messages off after just a few seconds. I thought it was perhaps just a defect in the timer so took it back and exchanged it for another. Same problems.
I'll be taking this one back and leaving it.

There's a reason this phone is a third the price of other 2.4GHz phones with built-in answering machines. . .

Summary: Cool phone but could be improved
Review: What other phone on the market talks to you via a female English accent and tells you 'how popular you are' for having received messages?! She also says a few other quirky things including the default answering message (that can be re-recorded to your own taste).
The phone and base look great, stylishly accented and features cool neon blue display lights. Easy enough to program in your settings and navigate through.

The sound quality is not the worst you've heard but could be better. (Why the hell is it that cordless phones STILL are let down by their sound quality???). Ring tones are very limited, 6 in total, only 2 are normal sounding, the other 4 are melodic that you will soon get tired of.

Bottom line. Not the best in terms of sound clarity (but not bad), top marks for styling.

(I decided because of it's poor sound quality it should be docked another point...as it's getting to me now and wish I'd gone for another model.)
