Summary: Best phone I've had yet
Review: I was a bit worried about ordering this phone as one of the reviews had commented on the answering system as unsatisfactory. I was pleased to find that this phone is not only attractive in my kitchen, but has proved to be easy for my non-techie husband to use (he has much trouble with anything more complicated than a single dial. Forget touch pads.) We have had no problem with the answering machine having too short a record time. The only message I had that ran too long was one of those stupid telemarketer recordings that run on and on. I was very grateful that the answering machine cut it short. The Volume enhancement is appreciated, as I have less than perfect hearing, and the handset is comfortable. The features are simple to use, and I even showed my husband how to check the messages without having to repeat the instructions. A first!!!

Summary: I'm amazed at this design flaw!!
Review: I'm amazed at this design flaw. I don't have space to wall mount this phone, so It must sit on my desk. However, when it sits on the desk, the display is tilted backwards (away from the person sitting at the desk), so I must stand up to read caller id display (to decide if I want to answer the phone). How annoying. The whole reason I got a speakerphone was so that I could work uninterrupted at my desk if I wanted to answer calls. Now I have to stop my work and stand up to decide. If you can wall mount this phone, the display would be easily visible, and the phone might otherwise work great. I never got as far as to try it.

Summary: Great Corded Phone
Review: If you are looking for a corded phone with all the latest features, this is it. This is a high quality phone that delivers in all areas and does not have that "office" look to it. It looks great in a kitchen, where most other phone just look out of place.

Summary: You get what you pay for
Review: It was very hard to find a good quality corded phone and after this phone I can still say the same thing. I had read previous reviews before I had purchased it and thought it sounded pretty decent. But, when I received it I found similiar problems other customer had found. You cannot check your messages from the remote, even the customer service provided by the company could not get it to work. Another problem is the fact that there is only 1 min of recording time so most of my messages were cut off. In the owners manual under trouble shooting it says "it is the cause of a caller pausing for more that 7 seconds" and the way to correct it is "have the caller speak continuously w/out any pauses." Should this be the message I leave on my machine "please leave a message less than 60 sec. w/ out taking a breath thanks" I returned it and am in the process of looking for a new one.

Summary: Nice + Smart + Economic
Review: Just got it and haven't used it for long, but so far I like it very much. The settings are very easy and buttons wisely designed (I especially like the big easy to read digital message counter which also serves as the 'play/skip/memo' button, and the Review knob, easy to use). Have had no problem with Caller id, answering machine and speaker phone so far, all relatively easy to operate. Both the caller id LCD display and the keypad are lighted, so very good for use at night. Adjustable volume for handset, ring and speaker.

The only things troubling me (all minor):

1. The sound of the ring and the sound when you press each dial button have too high pitch, not very pleasant to me.

2. When setting the time of the answering system, if the minute is to be set at, say, 49 (e.g. if time is 12:49pm), you must press the button 49 times (!) going through 00 to arrive at 49! There's no way to speed it up (holding down the button doesn't do, and there's no reverse count down).

3. The choices of number of rings before anwering machine picks up is only 2/4/Toll Saver. I'd like more choices of 2/3/4/5/6/7/TS.

4. Can they make the LCD display larger so easier to see and read?

In conclusion: This phone has all the essential features for contemporary phone use, as well as smart design of the buttons/knob (the knob spares the need of more buttons). It's easy to set up and easy to operate. The footprint is small, the appearance is nice, too. This is my first Southwestern. I hope it will last and prove that sometimes you don't have to buy an expensive, name brand. Will come back for another review after a long enough use or if any problem surfaces, whichever comes earlier.

Summary: Good for the price
Review: Just got it the other day, and so far I love it. The controls are a little needlessly complicated, but once you have the phone setup it operates fairly well. The LCD screen can be difficult to read when utilizing the unit as a desk phone - you have to be standing right over it to read it - but it would probably work well when the unit is hung on the wall.

It certainly seems to be a good value for the price - you can barely buy a decent digital answering machine for this much money, let alone a speakerphone and a Caller ID unit.

Summary: name you can trust
Review: southwest bell knows their phones, easy to use and it works as advertised. buy this phone it will be a great investment and a name you can trust.

Summary: very nice with one major exception
Review: The answering machine does not allow the volume to be turned off -- so everyone in the house can hear the message being left. Not much good if privacy is an issue. Basically makes this useless for my purpose. If you tell your guests to ignore the phone as "the answering machine will get it" this is nice but everyone will be listening to the message...

Summary: Recording Time listed misleading, 60 sec max per message
Review: The Recording Time listed (14 minutes max) is misleading because individual incoming messages are limited to a 60 second maximum and then it cuts your caller off! Your outgoing message is also limited to a 30 second maximum. Neither of these restrictions was listed in the description; I didn't find this out until I read the owner's manual upon receipt. These restrictions made this product unsuitable for my purposes and I was very disappointed.

Summary: A serious flaw
Review: The Southwestern Bell Phone Model FM2575 is of good value and works as decribed but has a serious flaw that will reduce it's value to many people. As stated in the owner's manual, to retrieve the answering system calls remotley one needs to hold each digit on the remote phone 2 seconds to enter the security code. This is no problem for land phones, but for cell phones the tones emitted are not of that duration regardless of how long the button is held in. Another answering system would be a better choice if one would be using a cell phone to retrieve messages.
