Summary: Quality is a Joke!
Review: I bought the 2415 and two 2400 extentions and I experienced the same quality problems as everyone else. After a few months of use the handsets stoped working properly. The person on the other end can no longer understand you and it sounds like you are cutting out. I called Siemens and was told that they no longer service these phones in any way. They suggested sending them for repair to a siemens certified tech at my expense. I will waste no more money on this purchase. There is a reason that there are so many refurbed siemens phones out there. Because they are all JUNK and fall apart! I will never buy another Siemens product.

If you are worried about hickups, get a newer Siemens model, like the 8000 line. WHERE TO BUY: I heard about this phone when I was looking on Ebay for a new cordless with answering machine and caller ID. This phone looked slick and had all the features, but it had also gotten a bunch of bad reviews. I decided to buy one anyway, and another as a backup, since I got it so cheap. SETUP, REGISTRATION, PIN: The setup was a bit difficult, since you need to manually register the handset to the base, and you need to know the system PIN. If you are locked out, however, Siemens support will walk you through an unlocking procedure. NON-VOLATILE MEMORY: My first positive surprise was that the phone had actually retained all its info on non-volatile flash memory. When I had gotten it running, I could still listen to the messages that the previous owner had gotten months ago, including caller ID. Similarly, the handset still had a lot of phone number stored that the previous owner didn't erase before shipping the phone. Well, I erased that a.s.a.p., but cool feature... no more worries about losing messages to power glitches. PROBLEMS: A lot of the problems that people report - battery and charging problems - are due to the fact that Siemens didn't solder the charging contacts onto the electronics, they just stuck them onto the circuit board with springs. This creates poor contacts that may fail sometimes after a while. However, for the technically inclined, you can just solder them down and avoid such trouble. Looks like Siemens wanted to simplify assembly here, but sacrificed reliability... The same poor-clip-on-contact problem goes for the handset speaker. And the buttons can get dirty and malfunction, just like a cheap keyboard, since they are these rubber-knob type thingies that press down onto the plain circuit board... Once again, if you manage to *carefully* open your handset, you can just clean the keypad with an alcohol swab, and it works just fine, in case you had trouble. Lastly, one of my two handsets had weird static (garbled my microphone) if I held it real close to the base, i.e. less than one foot. I was able to improve this condition to less than one inch by also replacing the internal antenna (in the handset) with a longer one. This isn't exact science, but it did change the situation for the better. EXPERIENCE SINCE THEN: Pretty good. Slick looks, good sound, *very* sensitive microphone (if you whisper, your friends can still hear you clearly), and just a faint whisper-like static, not bad at all. Batteries last long, especially if you put NiMH in, and the phone also has a bunch of additional features, most of which are only useful if you have more than one handset: You can put one handset into your kid's room as a baby monitor, and it'll give you a call if your kid exceeds a certain noise level. :) You can also use up to 4 handsets for intercom, conference calls, to access multiple bases... All functions are controlled at the handset. I played around with my two systems and found that indeed the seamlessly interact and talk to each other (2 bases, 2 handsets). The ringer also sounds way better than my V-Tech, which cut people off on the answering machine. And contrary to what I read here in a previous review, you can set the base and handset ringer volume separately, and even turn both off completely. All in all, I am very happy with this phone...

Summary: Disappointing phone
Review: Despite the numerous handy features of this phone, it has some fatal flaws. The sound quality for people on the other end of the line is poor enough that I have been asked several times if I am on a cell phone. In addition, the handset sits awkwardly in its cradle so that one minute the phone is charging and then when you walk by a few minutes later, it no longer is. The bottom line is this: I've only had the phone a week or two and here I am back at Amazon.com looking for a new one.

Summary: Nice phone system
Review: I have the main system and two extensions, and I haven'tnoticed any problems in sound quality. I have accidentally hung up onpeople, though. This has happened in two situations, when I pushed the TALK button on a ringing phone in the cradle, and when I try to hold the phone with my shoulder. This type of thing was less of a problem as I got more familiar with the handset. They left out a part of the instructions to register additional handsets, but I quickly got someone on the phone who walked me through it. That being said, I really like the phone system. The phone is light and fits very comfortably next to my ear. I really wanted the caller ID and call waiting ID features, and as I live in a three story townhouse, I like being able to easily identify and retrieve messages from any of the three units. I also like the fact that I can copy my directory (120 total entries max) to all three phones. This is an extremely convenient feature. The fact that the extensions only have to be plugged into an electrical outlet is very nice, as well. It is also an intercom system, and has a room monitor feature that I use with my small son. It has a keypad lock that I use so I can clean the phone without inadvertantly dialing out, a call timer, and calls can be put on hold. This is a well thought out phone, and although it's a little pricey, it's jam packed with features. END

Summary: Extremely Satisfied
Review: I've been extremely satisfied with the Siemens Gigaset 2415 2.4 GHz Cordless System. It has excellent clarity and several features that are very useful. I was a little skeptical with the 2.4 GHz phones. Until recently, I had a new, full-featured, Panasonic phone, which gave me extensive problems and the reception was poor. Wanting to increase the reception quality and security, I gave the Siemens Gigaset 2415 a try and I am very pleased. The features are excellent, caller ID, digital answering system, etc. Although, I really enjoy the directory feature, thus allowing me to find a name and press dial to call. This is a very handy tool. As noted earlier, the clarity is excellent and I haven't had any problems with battery life, but then again I usually leave the phone in the charger/base when not in use. The only minor problem that I experienced was the inability to use the phone when the power went out, but that doesn't happen often and any phone requiring power would experience similar problems. I highly recommend this phone.

Summary: Unreliable phone
Review: I had the same problems as everyone else. Pretty much out of the box, nobody could understand me b/c it was very garbled. I sent the almost new phone back to siemens and they gave me a very used refurbished one that has similar problems. On the other side, the answering machine, once figured out, had very good sound quality. Overall a big waste of money.

- Most importantly, the device finally completely died just

Review: This is not a good phone. After only 18 months it died. Not even new batteries could bring this phone to life. Customer Service with this product is nonexistent.

Review: I've owned this phone for a long time, but that's just because I'd been reluctant to spend money on another cordless until last week.
I didn't like this telephone set because the range is not nearly enough (I think the numbers they give us are inaccurate). I walk out of the door and two doors down the phone is not working anymore!
The battery life is about a year or so. It doesn't die suddenly but it loses its charge power and won't hold it for more than 10 minutes (after a year that is) even if you're NOT on the phone.
The voice quality is adequate.
The keypad is HORRIBLE and very difficult to dial with. The buttons are soft and mushy and difficult to press.
You have to keep the headset away from ANY KIND OF MOISTURE. If the phone is in the bathroom when you're taking a shower and moisture builds up, the screen goes blank and it stops working until it "internally" gets dry again.
Very difficult to adjust ringer ... you have to go through an extensive menu and even put in your password (I'm not kidding) to turn the ringer on or off on the base!!! NOT A GOOD PHONE. Try panasonic, unidon, or sony instead.

Summary: The Cordless phone is lousy
Review: Sometimes this phone works great and other times there is static that interferes with phone conversations. You never know when it's going to happen. It doesn't have to do with proximity. The worst time it happened was when I was on a teleconference for work.
