Description:

Take care of unwanted phone calls with the Phonex PX-1020 Easy Hang-Up. With the touch of a button, this device gives you a polite way out of conversations with long-winded phone solicitors.

To set it up, we simply plugged our incoming phone line into the Easy Hang-Up box and connected the Easy Hang-Up into our phone. The small gray box features a button and indicator light, and can be used with any type of phone except for digital or multiline PBX systems. It is small enough to fit anywhere discreetly, and its Velcro strip even allows you to fasten it to a desktop or wall.

To use the Easy Hang-Up, just press the button and hang up the phone as soon as you receive an unwanted phone call. The caller will hear this message: "I'm sorry, this number does not accept this type of call. Please regard this message as your notification to remove this number from your list." The message is repeated twice and then Easy Hang-Up disconnects the line. The red indicator light goes on when you press the button and goes out when the line has been disconnected.

In our tests of the Easy Hang-Up, we found it necessary to press the button before hanging up the phone, otherwise the caller was disconnected without having received the recorded message. While the message does not ensure that your name is taken off any list, it does make it easier to interrupt a lengthy telemarketing spiel. --Emily Bakko
