Summary: Manual explicitly states that modem speed best at 9600 KBPS
Review: One of the reviewer above said that his experience when using the unit with the modem is bad. His modem speed is 56000 but when operated with the RCA extension unit it runs at 9600 speed. Of course, the manual of this product shown here in Amazon explicitly said that it will provide best result with modem at 9600. It is not the product's fault.READ THE MANUAL BEFORE YOU BUY!

Summary: does not work well as a modem line
Review: summary: i bought this product to connect a computer to the internet, and my modem has trouble connecting. unless you want to surf the internet at a crawl (speed of 9600 vs. a speed of 56000), don't get this thing. more info: this product is supposed to work with the two components in different rooms, but when i tried this product out in adjacent rooms, i could not connect to the internet. when i had the two components in the same room (imagine that your phone line just is on the wrong side of your bedroom, and you want to have it on the other side of the bedroom), again i had trouble connecting. when i did connect, i got such a slow connection (9600 vs. the usual 56000), I didn't even want to be on the internet. this is the second set of these things, that i've purchased from two completely different vendors, and i've had problems with both sets. hire an electrician to install a new jack, or get a really long phone cord; don't waste your time on this frustrating product.

Summary: Works good for phones but not for modems
Review: The advertising for the RCA RC926 is deceptive. While it is described as a wireless modem jack, only after one opens the package and looks at the documentation does one discover that the modem speed is limited to 14,400 baud and more usually 9600 baud. That was slow even 5 years ago; now it is virtually useless when most modems operate at 33600 or 56000 baud
