Description:
The Toshiba FT8259 two-line cordless phone helps organize your busy family or home office. It combines two lines and three- or four-way conference calling in one easy-to-operate unit. Before testing the Toshiba FT8259BK, we charged it for the recommended 12 hours. A quick guide is included for convenient reference to basic phone operations. Because of its dual keypad, one on the handset and one on the base, this phone can be used at the same time on separate lines. If the handset is already in use on one line, you can make or receive calls at the base on the other line. Indicators let you know which line is in use. The conference and intercom buttons allow you to add a third and fourth party to conversations. To add a party to a call on line one at the base, press the hold button. Press line 2 and dial the number of the person you want to include. To bring the first person back into the conversation, press the conference button. A fourth person, at either the handset or base, can also be added to a conference call; however, voice transmission through the base on four-way conferencing is not always clear. You can store up to 20 numbers in memory dialing and up to eight numbers in one-touch dialing. To save a number, press the memory button, enter the number, press the memory button again, and assign it to a memory dial number. A long beep lets you know the number has been successfully saved. There is even a handy pullout directory for recording your saved numbers. To dial a number, press the memory button and the corresponding memory dial number. For numbers saved in one-touch dialing, simply press the designated speed dial button. In our tests of the Toshiba FT8259BK, we were able to take the phone about 250 feet from the base before hearing static and interference. At about 700 feet, hearing our caller became difficult due to the static. We also noticed a slight background hum even at close range, but it wasn't overly distracting. We were able to take the phone behind walls and near other electronic equipment with minimal interference. --Emily Bakko Pros: - Allows three- or four-way conversations
- One-touch memory dialing with pullout directory
- Handy quick reference guide included
Cons: - Slight background humming
- Conversations not always clear during four-way conferencing
