Summary: Uniden TRU346 2.4 GHZ DSS Titanium Cordless Phone Caller ID
Review: I've found the clarity of this phone to be superior over my 900MHZ. I haven't encountered any static problems and the clarity is the same as you get from a corded phone. The distance that you can travel with this phone is also exceptional. It has some nice features such as a large backlit display, pager, volume control and an automatic timer that let's you know how long your conversation lasted.
The reason I didn't rate this phone 5 stars is 2-fold:
1. The design of this phone places the entire display area of the phone directly against your face. This creates the need for frequent cleaning of the phone because of make-up smudges, oil, etc.
2. This phone can't be operated when your using a microwave oven or other similar appliances because it creates too much interference.

Summary: Great phone!
Review: I've had this phone for several months now, replacing a 900 MHz AT&T phone and it is definitely the best phone I've ever owned. I have a Panasonic 2.4 GHz phone also and this phone is much better.
It is very easy to dial numbers in memory. Each number is displayed on the screen using a name (you can display the number also) so you don't have to remember to dial Memory 0 for Fred, Memory 1 for Ethel, etc.
My only complaint is that I wish the phone was wall-mountable. If it was, I would buy another.

Summary: TRU346 Truly a Fine Cordless Phone
Review: If all you need is a good 2.4 GHz cordless telephone to make and answer calls this Uniden TRU346 is for you. However, the Uniden has lots of whiz-bang features like Caller ID (including calling a number on the Caller ID list), twenty programmable numbers AND names, re-dial from your choice of the last three outgoing calls; more features than a Game Boy or a Playstation. And, they all work, which is more than I can say for some of the other phones I have purchased recently.

I had no idea there were so many bad instruments out there. I have owned five cordless clunkers since a great 50 MHz instrument simply wore out from old age, and died. One lasted a few months, one had a battery that would barely last for a ten minute call, one never did work, but only cost eight dollars after the rebate. Another moderately expensive unit is still working, but is static-noisy and a poor performer. It is now working in a spare bedroom.

I suspect the big chain stores are buying discontinued models, odd lots, manufacturers' close-outs of various products, and marketing them as the latest models. I know of one digital camera being marketed in this manner, the Olympus 3000. It has three later models in its series, yet the retailer sells it as if it were the current model...

The TRU346 sounds really good. I immediately telephoned my sister after putting it into operation, and she said I sounded like I was in the same room with her. I have used it near the computer and another 2.4 GHz device without problems. The microwave creates static or interference on the Uniden, but if I walk away from it, no noise, even though the base station is on top of the oven.

I like electronic toys, like my computer, digital camera, VCR and stereo, and enjoy learning to program and use them all. This Uniden is challenging, and times-out on you if you stop to read the instruction manual while trying to program a name and number in memory. The display screen and type are small; you need your reading glasses on to be able to see the message. The back illumination times-out after a few seconds, so you need to be in a well-lighted room to use it. This is to save the battery, of course.

If you are at a loss trying to use modern programmable devices it is still worth the price as simply a good telephone. If you or your significant other can do the programming for you, it is even more worthwhile. Highly recommended.

Summary: Best overall value in cordless
Review: If you need all the bells and whistles, look elsewhere. If you need the features that most people need and actually use, this is a great value. For the most efficient layout, easiest programming, best quality of construction, best sound, best package of features.

I've had Sony, At&T and Panasonic cordless phones, and none have provided the overall value and quality the Tru346 has. Since I spend several hours a day on the phone (home office), I've hooked up the Plantronics M-175 headset, maxed out the volume, put the phone in my pocket, and enjoy mobile and hands free usage with excellent clarity. Enjoy.

Summary: This is a good one
Review: Is it just me, or are there a whole lot of [poor quality] telephones for sale out there right now? After my four-year-old Sony cordless died, I bought a couple of the new models only to get them out of the box, charged up and discover. . .they are not worth the packing material they came in. Back to the store they went. An AT&T model (sorry, I can't recall the model #) had truly horrendous sound quality.

The Uniden TRU346 is an exception. Excellent ergonomic fit (for my hand and head anyway) and crisp, clean sound. It has useful features and a simple button layout. The backlighting is bright and a good feature if you ever have occasion to dial in a dimly lit area. Based on limited exposure (I've only had the phone a couple of days) I am very happy with it.

Summary: DON'T BUY THIS PHONE
Review: It seems to be a great phone but after a year the keypad stops working and you cant dial anyones number. I am not the only one who has had this problem and if you read other reviews you will see many people with the same problem. DONT BUY THIS PHONE.

Summary: All flash, no bang.
Review: It takes much more than pretty packageing to make a good phone. This is the second 2.4 GHz Uniden model I have returned. Both suffered from a horrible echo when spoken in to. It sounded like a three way conference every time I made a call - and I'm usually partial to three ways! The buttons on the handset are poorly laid out - I usually hit two or three buttons with my thumb when addressing the navigation buttons. It does look cool though...

Summary: Loved it...until it died
Review: Perfect sound quality, feels like a quality product...until it died on me inexplicably--had it for 18 months.

Summary: Uniden quality, but not for everyone
Review: The TRU346 is an excellent phone in most respects...the best of all DSS phones I've tested. The range is excellent and it's futuristically attractive, but the bottom line of any phone is its ability to provide loud & clear send/receive voice quality, and unfortunately, this is where the 346 fell a bit short for me. The maximum earpiece volume isn't quite loud enough and everyone I called with it said my voice sounded good but "far away" even though my mouth was directly in front of the mic. Thinking it may be an isolated problem, I got another 346 but experienced the same thing.

The other problem I had with this phone is its width and the rubber grips on each side. I have relatively small hands and during lengthy conversations, the comfort level would quickly diminish because the handset is just a little too wide for me. The bottom is squarely cut off and became annoying when resting in the palm of my hand. The rubber grips are a good idea in theory, but to me, they make the phone feel "sticky", especially in humid conditions when my hands weren't perfectly dry. It's just a sensation I didn't like overall.

The 346 has excellent range, CID, lighted keypad, nice design, etc but I want the best and clearest sound possible for both myself and those I'm calling, as well as comfort for lengthy conversations, and it just fell a bit short in these areas. I realize the 346 is a big seller at Amazon.com, but it won't be the perfect phone for everyone.

Summary: A Good Choice for a Bedroom Phone
Review: The Uniden TRU 346 Titanium Cordless Phone is a good phone. The sound quality is very good compared to other brands of cordless phones. I must say that when it comes to cordless phones, Uniden is the best brand. I already owned a Uniden TRU246 2.4 GHz cordless phone, and it is the best phone I have ever had. I first tried out my 346 in the living room, but when I took the handset outside, I discovered that it did not work at as long a range as the 246, but it does indeed have a long range. The sound didn't start to get fuzzy until I got across the street. I ended using my 346 in the bedroom, because I don't usually carry my bedroom phone off as far as I do my living room phone, and this is an excellent phone for the bedroom because of the way the handset sits upright in the base. You can just reach over and pick the handset right up. I looks attractive too. If you are looking for a cordless phone with good sound quality and a fairly long range, the 346 is a good choice.
