Description:

Are you tired of roaming the house with your cordless phone in search of a static-free connection? We found that this unit, which uses 900 MHz digital spread spectrum technology, virtually eliminated background interference, no matter where we used the handset.

The 9410 operates in the 900 MHz radio band and can easily penetrate walls and other physical barriers. Its digital spread spectrum technology provides you with an incredibly long range. In our tests, we found the voice sound quality to be somewhat hollow, as though we were speaking into a tunnel, but we were able to use the phone over 1,000 feet from the base with minimal voice breakup and background static.

If you forget where you left the handset, simply press the handset locator button on the base, and the handset will beep, guiding you to its location. The lightweight handset has an intuitive button layout, including memory, flash, and mute buttons. The memory function stores up to 20 numbers that remain saved even when you change the battery or in the event of a power failure. Saving a number is straightforward and the memory dialing feature is easy to use. Just press the program button, dial the number you want to save, press Memory, and enter a number between 1 and 20. The handset sounds a tone so you'll know your number has been stored. If you subscribe to services like call waiting or call forwarding, you can access them by pressing the flash button. Mute allows you to hear your caller but prevents the caller from hearing you; the handset sounds a tone and the mute light illuminates, confirming your privacy.

Additional features include a battery saver, ringer selection, and a headset jack. You can also extend battery life by turning the ringer off; however, there is no ringer-off indicator. You may choose from four different ringer sounds, although we found all four of them to have a very similar tone. The headset jack allows you to install a 2.5- millimeter headset (not included) for hands-free operation.

With its static-free transmission and long range, the 9410 gives you clear conversation all around your home, inside and out. --Emily Bakko
