Summary: There are better options
Review: I bought this phone to substitute a 900 mhz phone and after two days I am returning it to the store. First, the ringer has no off switch. You can control the volume, but some of us like to completely turn it off so we won't be disturbed at night. Second, I get a lot of static when I use my microwave, making imposible to continue a conversation. Third, it has no mute or hold button. Fourth, I thought I would get more range by buying a 2.4 GHz. That is not true. My 900 mhz worked better. Fifth, I get an echo of my voice when I am talking.

I do believe this phone is too expensive for what you get and I found there are better options. I am sticking to a 900 mhz phone.

Summary: This Is a Great Phone!
Review: I have owned and used a Uniden TRU246 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone for about seven months now, and I truly love it! The sound is so clear and static-free, you forget you're talking on a cordless phone. It also has an incredibly long range. I carry the phone all around outside my house, and the sound quality is just as good as if you were talking on a corded phone. It even has a clear sound from all the way across the street. I love the built-in Caller ID, which is also compatible with Call Waiting Caller ID. The display also shows other things, such as a list of the numbers and/or names you have programmed into memory, and options such as whether to turn Call Waiting Caller ID or Auto Answer on or off. These features on the display make using the phone virtually mistake-proof. Another plus to the phone is that it stands up. This is a very convenient phone for carrying outside or all over the house with you, because it has an unbelievably far range, and because it has Caller ID display in the handset, so you know who is calling and can answer the phone no matter where you are. If anyone were shopping for a cordless phone, this Uniden TRU246 would be my first recommendation.

Summary: Great Product
Review: I just received this phone. I am glad I made the choice to buy this phone. I think Uniden in comparison with other manufacturers of cordless phones other than Sony is the best.

Summary: Buttons stop working after a while!
Review: I loved the phone when I first received it. However, after around 4 months the buttons stopped working. I basically need to jam my finger about an inch into the phone in order to dial a number. It sounds like a common problem with this phone. I suggest staying away from it.

Summary: Good until the buttons stopped working:
Review: I was pretty happy with the phone until, shortly after a year, the buttons became increasingly harder to push. I've contacted Uniden and they said they would only fix it for free if it was a "known problem." Not surprisingly, they said this was not such a case. Now what I want to know is if anyone else here on Amazon has had this same problem? If so, let's make it "known" so that Uniden will either fix it for free or give us a replacement. Though at this point, I'd rather have my money back than rely on their products and Customer Service again.

Summary: Love it
Review: I've had my new UNIDEN TRU246 for a couple weeks and I love it. It's clear (even in my little 600 sq foot apt), the features are easy to use, the handset feels comfortable on my hand and ear. And best of all, it stands up!

Summary: Stop here!
Review: If anyone is looking for a phone, look no further. This is the best phone I ever had! {and I've had many] The clarity can't be beat. I highly recommend this. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: TRU246--An Update
Review: It's been two years since my first review of my cell phone...it's still going strong on the original battery! I use a Jensen headset and an over-the-ear kind for hands-free talking. When watching tv with a friend from another state by phone (don't ask), I do notice the phone beeps "low battery" after four hours. This is a little disconcerting, especially if you're watching figure skating or an award show! However, it's not bad service for a phone I've had as long as this one. I suppose the solution there is buy another cordless for your spare jack and pick it up when the beeping starts.

I'm sold on cordless phones, still don't understand why people want to treat them as if they were wireless. Corded phones aren't and never will be. I believe good phones DO cost over $.. unless you buy them used. I also don't believe there is any one phone that will satisfy everybody's needs. My phone has never not work, keypad perfect, reception perfect.

I will say that I don't like the style of the newer model Unidens, so I can't say what my second phone will be. If they still made the 246 or 248, I'd definitely buy it.
