Summary: TERRIBLE!
Review: I think this is my very FIRST review on Amazon, but I felt COMPELLED to write this one... I bought this phone from [local store](before realizing it was here at a lower price), so I was going to return it to [store]and then repurchase it from Amazon.com..... HOWEVER, that is not going to happen now.. This is ABSOLUTELY the worst performing cordless phone I have EVER had. I live in a old farm house (so the walls are rather thick); however, my old 2.4 GHz Panasonic had no problems and neither did my 900 MHz phone... The only reason why I was upgrading was to add multi-room support- I will DEFINITELY go with a different brand now (possibly to a 2.4 GHz multi-room)!!! I cannot believe how poor the reception was on this phone- everything was fine IF you stayed in the same room, then things got worse the next room over and finally, just two rooms from the base, it would get so bad it would almost disconnect!!!!!! DON'T BUY THIS PHONE... BE FOREWARNED!!

Summary: Excellent 5.8 Cordless Phone
Review: I just dont get it, I ordered this phone after reading very good reviews and below average reviews and I personally think this phone is superb. Maybe some people are overly analytical or they got a bad phone. This phone is powerful, very clear, great looking, plenty of great features and I could go on and on.

Summary: Not Worth the Price
Review: I bought this to replace an old 2.4 GHz phone. The sound quality was OK but was actually worse than the 2.4 GHz. I was expecting much more for the price. The features are generally good, but the most annoying thing is that only one handset can be active at a time. When talking on one handset, the other handset will NOT operate.

In the end, I returned this phone and got a Panasonic 2.4 GHz that sounds great, was cheaper, has 3 handsets, and more features.

Summary: Lots of features, but some very basic ones don't work well
Review: We like feature such as caller ID display, and call transfer from one handset to the other, but have been getting complaints from friends and family that the volume level is much lower than our old phones. There is no setting to make your voice louder to the other party.

Since I don't see anyone else complaining about this, I am going to try exchanging mine for another piece, but if that one is the same, this phone is useless.

Summary: Speaker phone and checking messages on the handset is great
Review: We've had it for about 4 months now and I find it's a great phone. The pluses:
1) speaker phone on the handset, which is great when you're put on hold.
2) clarity of phone. Since we have wireless internet, the other lower Ghz phones were too static-y for us. You can change the volume, and loud is very loud.
3) message checking on the handset. As our base station is upstairs, it's nice to check the messages from downstairs.
4) nicely designed. Cool orange LCD and nice feel. Handset stands up (which I like since I can't find the phone when its lying flat)

Minuses:
1) Probably with all dual handsets, only one handset can be in use at a time (can't have both handsets in use on the same conversation)
2) Cannot play messages on base when someone is using the phone.

The pluses definitely outweigh the minuses, and I feel like I got good value from the phone.

Summary: Could be better.
Review: I bought this phone thinking it would be the cutting edge of phone technology. Wrong! First of all, the range of this phone from the base unit is less then my 900mhz phone was! Both handsets CANNOT listen to the same phone call?!?!
And, speed dials, distinctive rings etc. must be programmed twice! Once in EACH handset! The price is not worth it for this phone. Take my advice and get a Panasonic 2.4 Ghz phone. You'll be glad you did!

Summary: Surprisingly poor sound quality
Review: I picked up this phone recently with the idea that if it didn't do what I wanted it would go back to the store. Well, it did go back to the store. As mentioned in other reviews, the speaker/mic combination in the handsets provide a surprisingly tinny sound. This initially didn't bother my too much as I regularly use a headset anyway. The problem was that the pickup on the headset mic was far too quiet; I would end up unplugging it after the other party complained they couldn't hear what I was saying. This situation left me with a phone that was far less useful than I expected it to be.

A few other points:

This is currently the only true 5.8 ghz phone on the market, all of the others use a combination of 2.4/5.8. This is a concern for anyone using a wireless network. I understand that the hybrids don't interfere too badly but I have yet to see for myself.

This is the only 5.8 that supports retrieving answering machine messages from the handset, a feature that I am certainly going to miss. I played around with this and it worked quite well.

I wouldn't mind owning this phone but why put up with low voice quality when other phones offer so much better? I really don't understand how Uniden messed up the fundamentals so badly.

Summary: Poor speaker phone
Review: Since day one all parties in my con calls have complained they cannot understand or hear me clearly when using the speaker phone. Recommend users that need to use the speaker phone or a headset consider long before deciding on this unit.

Summary: Don't BUY it
Review: i rarely ever submit reviews....but this phone is really bad...for being such a technologically advanced phone and cool looking, i expected it to sound good.......instead, i got static/noise.........i had panasonics before.....and should've never trusted any other brand.............especially, a Uniden...
and what's this......the two handsets can't share a call?....you can only transfer it......and to make it worse....you have to program the phone numbers separately into each handset.....quite tedious......the siemans, which i also bought and tried....is also terrible.......at least, the siemans allows you to share stored phone numbers............

buy panasonic...........

Summary: Amazing Phone
Review: I did a lot of research before buying this phone & I am not disappointed. This phone has a ton of features that you dont find in other phones. The phone book feature, ring tones and ringer volumes are just starters.
Clarity is amazing. Defintely worth the price!
