Summary: What a great phone!!
Review: I recently purchased this phone as a replacement for an older Sony model that I had. What a wise purchase it was. For starters, 5.8 ghz is the latest in cordless phones. The reception is much crisper and clearer the the 900 mhz Sony. The digital answering machine works so well that I cancelled my voice mail. The second handset is so convenient; it has it's own seperate phone book memory, perfect for roomates sharing a single phone line. The ringer tones are pretty cool too, there are 10 different tones to chose from, including Merry Xmas just in time for the holidays, plus you can change the volume of the ringer to ring low or high, which is great for me, since the low volume is low enough to not wake up the kids during their afternoon nap. There is nothing about this phone that I don't like. The price is a little steep compared to some other phones out there, but well worth the price. 5 stars!!

Summary: Great phone, would give 4.5 stars if possible
Review: I had to buy this phone because I'm a gadget guy and need all the new stuff. I had a Siemens 2.4 GHz set similar to this, but was experiencing HEAVY interferance with my wireless computer network. I ended up getting this one over the Vtech based on bad reviews, and honestly this one just looks a heck of a lot better. The one and only complaint I have is a benefit as well (with roommates as mentioned above), but for my family, it was nice to put the Name and Numbers in one phone and have it show up on both, delete caller ID from one, and have it deleted from both. This one is completely seperate from each other. To each their own. Other than that, the sound is exceptional. I love the speakerphone built into each handset and the base. Great for the long waits on the phone with businesses. Also, no interference with my 802.11b network (the next gen wireless 802.11a is on 5.8Ghz, so beware!) Now all they need is downloadable ring tones for this. Very happy.

Summary: Better than the others but no standout
Review: I had been a Panasonic phone fan for many years, but the NiCad battery issue finally got to me. All Panasonic phones use NiCad batteries, which have a "memory effect" so that the battery life shortens considerably with regular use. So I bought the Uniden phone since it has a NiMH battery, which doesn't have a memory effect. The feature set also seemed quite nice. After two months of use, I am relatively satisfied with the phone, but not elated. Pros: First, the phone doesn't interfere with my wireless network. This was an issue with 2.4GHz phones, which share the same bandwidth as wireless networks. Second, battery life is respectable. Third, the ring is loud and clear. Finally, having the extra handset and charging station is convenient. Cons: Although battery life is good, there is no way to tell how much battery life is left. One day it was working, and the next day it was dead, without any warning. One of the other reviewers also mentioned this. Second, the answering machine doesn't let you erase messages without listening to each one. This may be idiot-proof, but if you use your answering machine to screen calls, you know what is on the message and just want to erase it. I'll keep this phone, but it hasn't ended my search for a better cordless phone. Seems all the innovation is going toward cell phones these days.

Summary: This phone is really great!
Review: I read some of the reviews of this phone after buying it and before I had actually used it (waiting for my initial 15-20 hour battery charge). Judging from some of the reviews I was unsure whether I had made a wise purchase. After using the phone for a week now I can tell you that I definitely made a wise purchase. The phone was purchased because my Panasonic 2.4GHz was not living well with my home's 2.4GHz wireless network. My panasonic had dual handsets and similar features. However, the Uniden was the best priced 5.8GHz phone when compared with the AT&T and Panasonic 5.8GHz models. I am very happy with the sound quality and really like the speaker phones performance better than the Panasonic's. I like the orange display and large talk button. In my opinion the phone has a very good looking design. I don't think the answering machine limitation of 10 minutes is a big deal. My 2.4 Panasonic only had 15 minutes and the way the panasonic was set up it was easy to accidently delete messages before listening to them. A battery life indicator on the Uniden handset would have been nice. But all the other features make up for it and I really don't leave the phone off the charging bases very long anyway. The Uniden is a great phone!

Summary: Best cordless phone so far!
Review: I have been waiting to get a new house cordless phone for awhile now because I didn't see anything that caught my eye out there. A few of my friends have panasonic,siemens,and v-tech phones. They all say their ok, but could be better. I like the sony phones, but the handsets do not have speakerphones. Well, I went in the store and as soon as I saw this phone, I had to have it. It looks and feels incredible. I brought it home and started testing it out. It really is a great phone. I love the sound quality and all the features. Everything from distinctive ring,headset speakerphone,caller id,3 way conference,call transfer,100 phone book entries,lighted lcd screen and keypad,speeddial,adjustable headset earpiece volume,speaker volume,base ringer volume,headset ringer volume,auto answer,redial,mute,etc,etc. I love it. Review: We are writing this review on the Uniden cordless phone The Good:
We like the 5.8 Ghz because it does not interfere with our 802.11 G Linksys WIFI and because it sounds a lot clearer.
We liked the speed dial feature (Rocketdial) and the distinctive ring tones (very similiar to cell phone features).
It is very easy to use and to program the numbers.
We also liked the answering machine built in that is easy to turn on & off.
We like the ability to transfer calls from the base to the handset without having to go back to the base. The Bad:
There is no low battery indicator on the handset.
Cannot add no more than 1 additional handset.
It would be nice if the base unit had a built in clock display and the handset would display the time when you are on a call.

Summary: This phone rocks!
Review: Had this phone for two weeks now and it rocks. I was a bit leary to buy this, after hearing mixed reviews, but I thought I would try it, as I could easily return it if it didn't work well. I currently have a Panasonic 2.4, which the reception is OK, but the battery life is horrible (1hr talk) and the phone pops when using the microwave. I bought the Panasonic about 6 months ago when my previous Panasonic died (I've pretty much owned Panasonic cordless for years) So, I got this phone and it is solid. Battery life is 3+ hours of talk, plus the second hand set means you have a few more hours (just transfer the call to the 2nd handset). You can't expand past 2 phones - no big deal. I live in a home, not a work environment. Can't talk on the two cordless at the same time. Again, for me not a big deal. I always have one of those non-cordless phones that work when the power is out, so we can just use that when we "conference call" (how often does this happen anyway? Once a year?) The audio is crystal-clear, even the microwave doesn't affect the sound quality. My wife uses the phone more than I, and she hasn't found anything wrong with it (except different ways of getting through this menu as opposed to Pansonic's menu, etc.). Overall, outstanding phone, IMO, two thumbs up, 5 stars, etc.

Summary: Very good phone, but may be outdated...
Review: I have had this phone for almost 2 years now. It's been a workhorse and I love using it. Having said that...the only real problem I have with it...is that I can ONLY have 2 headsets with this system. Because of this I will probably be changing my phones soon to the TRU8885 series which supports up to 10 handsets. I haven't yet tried them, but if you're in the market for a new phone system I would probably check out the TRU8xxx series phones instead (i.e. TRU8885-2 or similar - all of the TRU8xxx models are the same handsets, as each other NOT the TRU5885, but come in multiple configurations depending on whether you want an asnwering machine, the number of handsets sold in a pkg, etc...)

Summary: The Worst Phone I've Ever Had
Review: This is the worst phone I have ever had. It cuts out in every room in my house and has been embarrassing to have when dealing with business customers. I have written the seller, but have not received word back for over a week. Uniden will not take it back so it looks like I'm stuck.

Summary: good phone, missing some obvious things.
Review: First off, for all the reviews who are complaining that the phone is 5.7ghz and they don't get twice the range of their old 2.4ghz phone. You sound foolish, the number has little to do with range. 2nd, to people who are saying this phone knocks their wireless internet off-line. I am confused seeing how 5.7 and 2.4 use TOTALLY seperate bandwidths. The spectrum is completly different. And as far as a I know this phone is a true 5.7ghz not a 2.4/5.7 hybrid. Maybe you know something I don't here? About this phone, it looks real nice, the orange screen is something different. The sound quality is good, the volume is acceptable. No battery life indicator is upsetting. About not being able to "share" a call with both headsets, I don't know of any multi-headset unit in this price range where you can use 2 at the same time. About the phone having no attena, it has no visable one. But I assure you there's one in the top of the headset. If they fix up a couple bugs and add some more features, I think a reversion release of this could eaisly score 5 stars from me.
