Rating: Summary: Midland 75-407 Review: Found it very usefull and easy to use. Very clear sound. Had no problem in communicating with others. Found it even more usefull during road trips with my friends when traveling in differnet cars, and when I went fishing and camping. I liked the scan feature.
Rating: Summary: Great price for great range Review: These handheld radios are excellent. They have a great range and you can't beat the price. You can't go wrong with these radios!
Rating: Summary: Great Value! Review: As a volunteer fireman, emergency medical responder and a member of a K-9 search team I have radio equipment that is on the public service frequencies. That stuff is expensive. This Midland is a surprising value for the price. Good basic communication, clarity and straightforward operation are pluses. Spouse says it is big on Cute and that counts to her. Mostly, I am surprised by the quality rec'd for the money paid. Very enthusiastic about use fishing on river, working on property or apart when 4 wheeling.
Rating: Summary: Satisfied, at first Review: We purchased two radios about a month ago. They work great -- or should say worked great. One of the radios quit working about a week ago. I have sent it back to Midland as there is a warranty.
Rating: Summary: Can't beat for the price Review: This is my first FRS radio, but I am a ham radio operator and I've owned a number of handheld radios. I used an ADI Dual-bander as a comparison. I found the receive sensitivity better than my scanner or ADI. It has an excellent front end. The audio output was also easy to understand. With only 250mW audio output, you couldn't be in a very noisy environment, however it's adequite in most family situations. As for transmitting, I checked field strength aginst my ADI set at 500mW output (the rated output of the Midland), and the Midland actually pumped a little more than my ADI did. I conceede that this may have been due to my ham radio antenna not having been designed to resonate at FRS frequencies (460 MHz FRS versus 445 MHz ham). The frequency accuracy of my unit was very precise as well. It was off by less than 100 Hz. That's lower than the resolution of my frequency counter.. much better tolerance than the specs in the book. The transmit audio was a little muffled, but quite understandable. The squelch opens up a little more around computers than I would like, and it would have been nice to have an adjustable squelch. Yes the battery cover can come off accidently, but no worse than most toys or portable radios. You would have to work at it to get it to accidently come off. I would have preferred an LCD readout, but for $20 I consider it clearly the best buy money can buy. Good job Amazon!
Rating: Summary: Midland 75-507 FRS radio Review: This is a good deal for the price. This radio is a good beginners radio for the Family Radio Service. It is also good for teaching young children the proper use and care of a communication radio without risking much expense. It's sound quality is not the best but quite useable. It has the full legal power limit of 500mw with no licence requirement. It does lack privite line code capability which could be a nuisance in congested areas. It uses 3 AA cells which can be bought at low cost at Price-Costco, 40 alkaline cells for under 10 dollars if you buy the Kirkland brand. They are good cells (batteries) and hold up well.
Rating: Summary: A Great Invention Review: I have a friend that owns two Midland 75-507 family radio's.And I've borrowed it several times, and I must say its a pretty neat invention. Also at a really good price. Hope you enjoy it as I did.
Rating: Summary: Great Bang for the Buck Review: I own three of the Midland units and am very pleased with them. For the price, you get one heck of a product. I get about 1.25 to 1.5 miles range in my suburban area, about the same as my friends who paid more for one of their units than I did for all three of mine. There are better made units with more features, but if your looking for basic communication at a great price, check these out.
Rating: Summary: THE GREATEST WALKIE TALKIES EVER! Review: This was one of the best purchases I have ever invested in. The walkie talkies have excellent range. Other people have said that the battery compartment is hard to get at and that the batteries fall out if it gets jostled. They don't . The battery compartment is easy to get to and the batteries have never fallen out of place. Even though the display shuts off after a few seconds you just press the push to talk to see. This was the greatest purchase ever and I am going to get two more!
Rating: Summary: Great Bang for the Buck Review: I recently purchased a pair of Midland 2-way radio's and I amabsolutely satisfied with the performance of these radios. I wasn't sure what to expect for a radio [in this price range]. I was amazed on the compact size, (fits in a shirt pocket) and the durable design. I have compared other 2-way radios, and for the price, you can't go wrong. The only complaint about them, is that they do not have the range as advertised. The range is more like 1 1/2 miles compared to the 2 miles that is proclaimed. Other than that, there are no other complaints. If you are a leisure user, and a user with children, then these are the radios to buy.
