Summary: Great Radios!
Review: I just arrived from Las Vegas, and we found these radios a useful tool. From maintaing conversations between the three cars while on the road, to conversation on the mall. Great tool for it you like to travel in a car caravan during family trips. I previously used these same radios, last summer, and loved them. ... I just had to get another pair. You won't regret it. I also loved the search feature, the Priority scan, and other. Oh, yeah, the size is great, fits perfectly in your shirt pocket, or on your waist belt. You can buy the motorola radios, but why? And Battery life on the Midland radios, y great. We had the radios on for over 3 days, and had no problem, they were on for the whole weekend trip.

Summary: jBest FRS radio I could find for the price.
Review: Purchased two of these radios to use with my son while deer hunting from tree stands. Found these units to work exceptionally well. The range and clarity were superb (especially from the added height of the tree location). The call feature is very valuable when location of your hunting buddy is quickly needed. Although the backlight does go off a bit quickly, a push of the PTT button will tell you if the unit is on or not. The price of these units make them a real value. Plan on using them next while fishing to keep in touch with the other boat or my wife back at camp. A top notch value.

Summary: Keeping in touch
Review: We really enjoy having 2 of these. They have good clear sound and have come in handy alot of times. Especially when we are traveling or fishing. And when we are following each other on the highway it is alot cheaper to use these then our cell phones.

Summary: midland radios
Review: I purchased a pair of these radios several weeks ago. They have worked very well for our family. So fair, we have taken them to large department stores when we are shopping together. It is nice to be able to be able to keep track of each other and know precisely when my wife is finally heading for the checkout line. She can even tell me the line in which she is standing. There have also been times when we have taken them to the mall when there are many things that we have to buy in a short period of time. The radios have allowed us to coordinate our activity so we are out of the mall in the shortest time possible. Also, I like to go running, but my wife works second shifts. When I am on my nightly run, I stay in radio contact with my eleven year old son. My wife and I are going skiing on Monday. I'm certain that the radios will be useful on the slopes. The midland radio works well within a mile range. The signal become too weak to make out at about 1.5 miles. We have kept our radios on channel 1, even though they have 14 channels. We have not experienced any interference from other users.

Summary: Cross country trip using the Midland 75-507 FRS radios
Review: My wife and I bought a pair of these affordable FRS radios for our coast-to-coast move (eight days in separate vehicles). The radios seemed to have decent reception up to a mile, more if the terrain was flat. Rain and power lines seemed to reduce range somewhat. The clarity was good enough, though I think some of the higher priced radios are clearer. Also, I found I pretty much had to turn the volume all the way up in order to hear incoming transmissions; a better speaker would be a definite improvement. As for battery life, we got about 40-50 hours of use before needing replacement. We found the CALL and SCAN features very useful as was the ability to easily switch to a clear channel. The VOX feature worked ok with the built-in microphone but there is a noticeable delay in activation that we found annoying; maybe it works better in conjunction with a headset.

For occasional use I would say the Midland 75-507 is a good choice. I would not suggest buying the really cheap radios, typically sold in pairs, which typically have just one or two channels as interference with other users limits their usefulness.

Summary: why not offer all the parts?
Review: I ordered 2 of your FRS radios and the ear bud remote microphones. I did get all I ordered BUT your advertising to me, is misleading . I cannot use the remote earbud microphones. Why? Because they require an adapter Midland part number 22-001 Why wasen't this mentioned in your original write up? I tried to identify the part number from midland and it is not listed. So the ear bud microphones are usless. I expected that they should be Plug and Play as the advertisement implied. Where can I find such and animal?

Summary: Great for a week, aweful for a lifetime
Review: The Midland 75-507 14-Channel FRS with Hands-Free Radio VOX Radio looks really good at first glance and it works really well around the house when you test it out, but when you bring it in the woods or on the ski slopes, that one-mile range turns into a two foot range. We used them for a while on car rides until they stopped working. Then we took them to the slopes, but half-way up the chairlift we wouldn't be able to communicate. Then others around us would be on the same chanell and you would hear everything they said. Now, 1 year after buying them, when you turn them on, all you get it static, the VOX doesn't work, and sometimes, when you turn it on it just blinks at the same chanell and you can't talk to anyone. If you want to get one, I reccommend the Motorola TalkAbouts. I've had them for a while and they are MUCH better.

Summary: Great Value!
Review: We bought two of these to use during our summer vacation. We caravaned from the SF Bay Area to Central Oregon with another family who had a pair of Motorola's. One channel was for the adults, and one for the kids. We could hear each other clearly even when we lost sight of each other on the road.

I would say that the range is 1 - 1.5 miles, not two (maybe 2 miles in the Bonneville Salt Flats ;{p}.

Ours work well (I read that a few customers received non-working radios). They appear to be well made, and fit comforatably in the hands of adults and children alike. I plan to use the headset jack for skiing this winter.

The only reason to pay more for a Motorola radio is if you want the 38 sub-channels for less interference and greater privacy.

Summary: Not happy..yet.
Review: After reading the reviews this seemed like a good purchase, except for people saying that either they did not work when they arrived, or they died soon after. I ordered two, and when they arrived, one did not work. I have sent it back and we will see how long it takes to replace and if the new one works.

Summary: Good deal for the money. It makes a great spare FRS radio.
Review: We already own a pair of Motorola 280SLK's. We bought this one for our son. It's easier to to deal with a $29 radio being lost compared to one that cost $129.

It works well when we communicate with our Motorola radios. The buttons are easy for a child to use. Battery life is very good. We bought some AA NiCd recharable batteries. I'm glad we bought it and our son has fun using it.
