Rating: Summary: 38 CTCSS subcodes per channel ? Review: ...The FRS310-series radios themselves, they seem to be good quality for the simple toys they are. Reception is clear to a range of about six blocks when talking between car and wood-frame building. The claimed two mile range might be possible, over flat remote terrain, at night, in a period of low sunspot activity, but I doubt it. The preset squelch level is adequate for use in urban areas. Scanning works efficiently, and channels may be locked. Displays are NOT back-lit as claimed by the manufacturer, but side-lit LCD and therefore less legible than the back-lit type in low light. A nice feature rarely found in low-cost rechargeable devices of any kind (until recently) is a simple yet well-designed charging circuit that makes it difficult to damage the NiCd batteries by carelessly overcharging ("cooking") them. The radios also will work while they are being charged, a sometimes useful feature evidently not found in some other designs.
Rating: Summary: super duper cool Review: I haven't got one but I'm going to get one when I do well in my exams and my father will give me money to buy this.I really want to buy one beacause it's features are: Compact 14-channel FRS 2-way radio with up to 2-mile range 38 CTCSS subcodes per channel for communicating with less interference from other users Rechargeable nickel cadmium batteries and recharging base station included Splash-resistant housing Detachable belt clip
Rating: Summary: Ok Review: I just bought these FRS radios today and they are ok. I have not fully tested them but they worked from a few blocks away with one that was in a house. I dont think they will actually work up to 2 miles but i guess they are ok for their price. If u just want some radios that arent gonna be used for huge distances then these are good. It was also one of the few that came with a charging station i was looking at motorola ones but they were the same price and the charger was [seperate] so i just got these.
Rating: Summary: Incorrectly advertised Review: I purchased this 2-way radio to use in my office. I need the 38 CTCSS subcodes per channel, since we are near a highway and frequently get interference from other users. Though Amazon.com indicated this unit had this capability, it did not. I now must go to the trouble of returning it. I would not have ordered this 2-way radio if representation of this product's features were correct.
Rating: Summary: MAXON FRS-114 TWO-WAY RADIO Review: I purchased two of these radios and I did transmit/rec. the 2-mile range with no problem.Purchased two GMRS and will advise on these later(had to get a license)
Rating: Summary: Works well.. for a couple weeks Review: I think that says it all. These broke and started picking up every noise except the one you were trying to hear. I'd spend a little more for Motorola and get the supplementary rechargeable batteries with it. It'll be cheaper in the long run.
Rating: Summary: NO SUBCODES ! Review: No CTCSS. Otherwise OK units. My nephews love them.
Rating: Summary: They are not too good... 2 mile range??? I don't think so. Review: The radio is compact but it does not have 2-mile range. It is about only one mile range. And the channels have interferences with other radios.
Rating: Summary: Works Beautifully! Review: These are great radios especially for the price. I ended up buying these after my Motorola T289's both broke almost on the same day after haivng had them only a year. The charging base and the price on this set is what attracted me most, and I am very happy with the product!
Rating: Summary: all-in-one easy and affordable Review: These are great! They come with rechargeable batteries. Included is a charger unit that you mount the radios in. This is nice because you don't have to remove the batteries for recharging in a battery charger. You can use regular AAA batteries or the battery packs that come with the units. They are easy to operate. They have a solid look and feel. They're seemingly durable. Definitely they are the best value of devices of this type.
