Rating: Summary: Keeping up with your kids Review: A friend of mine has 13 year old twins and never knows where they have gotten off to. She mentioned to me she was thinking of getting some 2 way radios to try to keep track off them. So I bought her these for Christmas. She seems quiet pleased with them, the kids do not share her joy. These also work well inthe mall or when at a big outdoor event. They fulfill there pupose and are smallenough that they can go in a purse or knapsack with little bulk from them.
Rating: Summary: Great Range, Clear, and NOT A BATTERY EATER Review: First I would like to say that the person who gave this a battery eater review had bad batteries because I used mine for three days streight with about 10% talk time and could still talk more if I wanted to.The have great range. We have 60 acers of woods, hills(some are more like cliffs)and thick brush. We run ATVs and we got closer to 2 1/2 to 3 mile range on these bad boys. I droped mine several times while on the 4 wheeler and the radio still works great. Not even a scratch. This could have been prevented with the many holders that are made for them. I would also sugest getting the hands free option if your going to be rideing. I great buy and even beter with the rebate. Read the rebate close you have to buy the radio on certain dates.
Rating: Summary: Terrific product, especialy for the price! Review: Great radio with all 14 channels and 38 privacy codes, yet you don't need a license. Unfortunately don't be fooled by the privacy "codes". Your conversations can still be monitored by other radios. Nice features like a backlit display lets you see the display in the dark and lock alows you to prevent accedental channel changes. Also includes an accessory jack for an optional hands-free (VOX) or push-to-talk headset. Bottom line, great 2-way radio with wonderful range and reception (up to 2 miles) except for the cons listed above and a incovieniently located talk button.
Rating: Summary: Great product, could be better Review: I got a pair of these to use at Disneyland. They worked great. With all the channels and sub-channels, only once did I pick up anyone else (and it seems like 1/3 of the people in the park were sporting some sort of communication device!). The range was surprisingly good. I haven't replaced the batteries yet, after about 14 hours of use. It doesn't really strike me as a battery eater. How could these be better? With all the background noise in the park, it can be hard to hear someone talking to you if the unit is clipped on a belt. More volume would be a definite plus. And an incoming call tone would also help. Thoughts to consider if you plan on getting these to use in noisy locations. If you want them for camping where it is nice and quiet, these are great radios and all you'll ever need.
Rating: Summary: Invaluable "tool"! Review: I purchased 2 of these radios, primarily for field communications while playing paintball. We used 3 Talkabout 250's, each with a Motorola earbud w/inline microphone and utilized the VOX capability. They worked great and it was an invaluable communications tool during the games. Communications were clear and the VOX worked well as long as the microphone was close to your mouth. The earbud fit very well within the ear and was comfortable. The only drawback with VOX was the delay with the microphone activation when first beginning to speak, but this is to be expected with a VOX setup. It didn't take us long to get in the habit of saying a word or two to activate the mike prior to transmitting what we really wanted to say. We have used these radios in the PTT mode as well and transmission is very clear and the range is good. This is a great way to stay in touch with your teammates, or family and friends in other situations and environments. Note: Amazon.com offered the Motorola 250 at a price significantly lower than I could find anywhere else, online or elsewhere.

Rating: Summary: Outstanding Product! Review: I want to start by saying that the Motorola TalkAbout 250 is the BEST two-way radio out there. I would rate it a 6 or 7, but that does not exist. HERE ARE A FEW FACTS I HAVE FOUND: 1) The distance is great! I got about 1.5 miles, and there were many houses, trees, and power lines between myself and the person I was talking to. I am sure anyone could get AT LEAST 3 miles in an open area. 2) The sound quality is also great! It is 100% crystal clear. Motorola builds in a device to reduce unwanted noise and static. It really helps! 3) This model has features including: a scan button and a lock button (a must for people with kids). 4) The 14 channels AND 38 subcodes are a great thing to have. I went to a huge antique sale, and there were many people using two-way radios. I would not suggest a radio with only 2 or 14 channels unless you are willing to argue with another person about who can talk on the channel. 5) Having a volume control is also nice. Some brands have a device that electronically increases or decreases volume, and you can NOT manually ajust it. 6) The battery life is outstanding (as much as 30 hours)! Also, the Motorola models without a NiMH rechargeable battery seem to be better. As NiMH batteries gets old, they do not hold the charge as well and you will have to buy a new battery. When the battery doesn't charge well, the radio quality goes down and the sound is not always as clear. I suggest an Alkaline battery version! 7) The indicator light is also good, so you can vissualy see if the PTT button is pressed. Hopefully you will decide to buy the Motorola TalkAbout 250. It only costs a little more than a different brand with the SAME features. Motorola also offers a wide variety of accessories including: headsets, remote speaker/microphones, and carrying cases.
Rating: Summary: Motorola Talkabout 250 - Stay In Touch Review: These radios have been wonderful for our family to stay in touch while on family outings like skiing, hiking, biking, rafting and camping. The range is unbelievable... They're a great investment for families or individuals who spend a lot of time in the outdoors.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Product, you will never put it down Review: They say two miles, but I think you actually get more. It's durable and very effective. I rarely ever hear static. I use them in the woods and camping and hiking trips when we have separate groups. No matter what you need them for, they will serve your purpose and you will definitely get your money worth. I reccomend that you get two today.
