Summary: The good and the bad
Review: As other reviewers, I wish Nokia would make a real car kit for the 82xx series. The big pain is that you always have to plug and unplug the power and speaker cables. I thought that all the plugging and unplugging had worn out the speaker/mic plug on my phone because the people that I called would complain about static that would go away if I moved the speaker plug slightly.

Now I have a new phone and still the same probs. The power and speaker plugs are on a "Y" cable and Nokia made the speaker plug cable of the "Y" a little too long. This puts pressure on the phone's receptacle and causes the bad connection - poor engineering.

Also, my car doesn't turn off the cig lighter's power when you turn off the ignition, so I always have to keep pulling it out of the cig lighter to turn it off.

It's a shame that this is the only solution available from Nokia.

Summary: I'm Not Laughing!
Review: First, the instructions are terrible. You have to be a "rocket scientist" to understand the pictorial installation/configuration instructions which are on a tiny scrap of paper.

Second, the product is advertised as having a swivel mount. But when you try to get it to swivel it doesn't. I even got in touch with Amazon.com, and they got in touch with Nokia. Nokia told them it definitely is supposed to swivel. So Amazon.com sent me a replacement. Guess what? The replacement also doesn't swivel!

I contacted Nokia and had to wait 2 days for a reply. Their answer was that I had to use an allen wrench to loosen a tiny hex screw. Once I had loosened the screw I could then adjust the mount. This has to be a joke because in order to loosen this screw I would have to go out and purchase a special allen wrench because of the tiny size of the screw. A swivel mount is supposed to swivel on an as needed basis without requiring any special tools. Nokia has a lot of nerve!

And as for being "hands-free", it's definitely not. You still have to take your hands of the steering wheel to answer the phone or to make a call. It's also very distracting to have the wire hanging down from the top of your windshield or visor. It creates more problems than it solves.

Summary: Great option for your 8260 !
Review: I agree with the last review in that this is a great option for the 8260 owner! Its easy to install, inexpensive and works as well as pricier options. Ive had mine for 2 years as well and have not had any problems.
Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Summary: Alternative to Nokia kit
Review: I bought the Sharper Image hands free for the 82xx - the one with the hear it again. Bit clunky but works well - clear to hear, mic works. Extended use drains battery (used to pwer speaker while recharging so net zero or loss). Overall though works as advertised, cheaper, plug in and go.

Summary: au contraire
Review: I can't believe the reviews on this product. I have been using one for over two years everyday on my 45 minute drive to and from work. It works great. Of course you have to plug it in, but then you can also move it easily from car to car when traveling or when you trade cars without having to pay a fortune to have it uninstalled and reinstalled. To the reviewer whose cig outlet stays on, I wish mine did. There is very little drain and not enough to ever discharge a car battery. I would leave mine in the car every night to have fully charged if mine stayed on with the ignition off. You do have to press a button to answer or dial but with the 8260 it takes any button to answer and with turbo dial programmed only one button to dial a number. I wanted to buy one for my wife's car but unfortunately it is no longer available. One more thing, I never bothered trying to install the dash mount I just leave it in the case that clips to my belt.

Summary: Needs a little work.
Review: Out of the box, this kit is a bit of a joke. The 61xx has a nice easy to use kit, and this on is a bit bulky and required plugging and unplugging every time you are in or out of the car. To make life a bit easier I took mine to a top-notch customizer who installed my kit permanently, thus eliminating the need to use the cigarette lighter. However, there is no getting around the plugging the cables into the phone. Also, because this is a light version of a hands free kit, there is no way to get auto-mute on the stereo. All in all, hands free kits are a nice accessory and keep the road safer. Your best bet is to get this one until Nokia gets it together with a real kit for the 82xx. Just spend a few extra bucks and have someone install it permanently.

Summary: A very nice hands free kit
Review: This hands free kit is a great idea, it requires very little installation and it keeps your hands on the wheel while driving and talking. Be safe, use a hands free kit while driving

Summary: OK- for your average Joe
Review: This works good for someone who just wants an easy thing you can plug in and go, but for me it wasn't a good solution. First, not only did I not want to use my cigarette lighter (I need it for a radar detecter) but I didn't want the speaker hanging off my my dashboard. Second, in my car (Audi A4) the cigarette lighter is in an awkward location near the gear shift. I have to place the speaker upside down to work, so the cables flop down the side. Third, the phone doesn't click in like a normal hands-free kit does, you have to stick two cables in the little holes each time you place it in the cradle. And fourth, you need to replace the battery cover with one that has a clip attached in order to attach to the cradle. This adds a little bulkiness to the phone for people who carry it in their pocket like I do.

I don't know why Nokia can't make a real hard-wired hands-free kit for the 82xx phones like they did for the 61xx phones. The phones are becoming real popular.
