Summary: hands free car kit review
Review: Great system, except I would like to see more of an adjustment for the phone mount unit. Currently hides behind my stearing wheel. I removed system from one of my cars and started to install it in another but forgot to mark the wires. Can anyone help me with the wiring, such as: red=hot, black=ground, blue=? etc.

Summary: The only real car kit still available
Review: I kept my old analog Motorola car phone for years because I didn't want to trade down to something that stuck in the cigar lighter and whistled when the speaker was on. This Nokia kit really works and since the mike can be mounted up on the visor, the handsfree doesn't whistle.

You do need to know what you're doing to install it. The local Cingular service department installed the kit for me at no charge since I was already a customer.

Summary: Nokia Handsfree - Excellent product
Review: I purchased a Nokia handsfree car kit about 6 months ago and installed it myself.

The kit comes with almost all the parts you will need for most installations. Remember that you will also have to purchase an aerial appropriate for your network though.

Installation is relatively straightforward, if you know something about car electricals. Its similar in difficulty to installing a radio-cassette player or CD player. As with any car installation be VERY careful with any drilling for mounting screws. If you damage the car's existing wires you could be up for major expenses or , at worst, a fire! You need to be careful about routing the aerial cable to avoid interference too. Finally make sure that you locate the holder in a place where it won't interfere with other controls, and that the microphone is located in a place where it will receive your voice properly. Next to the internal mirror works well on my Peugeot.

If you aren't used to doing this sort of work. or have a very complex vehicle, though , go to a professional.

The kit gives a significant extension in operational range and substantially reduces those nasty "black spots" where coverage drops out in normal use. The phone automatically switches between "Car" and normal modes, and you can happily insert or remove it from the holder in the middle of a conversation.

The car charging system works very well too. Since using mine in the car the normal mains charger has become pretty well redundant.

Although it seems much safer than using a phone in the car in "hand held" mode, and is much less fiddly and distracting than those earpiece/microphone plug in "hands free" devices, it is important to remember that even with a full car kit research shows that accidents increase compared to "no phone". Try to avoid using it in difficult or dangerous circumstances, especially for ringing out.

Overall, an excellent, well made , product that significantly increases the utility of your phone and , when compared to going "hand held", adds to your safety .

Summary: Great kit, lots of features
Review: I've had this kit in my car for over 3 year, and I can't imagine life without it. In addition to excellent sound quality both to myself and those I talk to, it also has some other nice features, not found on other car kits. 1) It has a mute mode that will either silence or shut off your car radio, depending on the radio's capbilitites. This means that when the phone rings, the radio goes off. Useful for those that like to listen to loud music. 2) If you leave the phone in the cradle with the ignition off, it will automatically turn the phone off, so you don't waste your car battery (or 'auto-answer' calls, when you're not there). Useful if you leave your car in a garage or other secure area at night.

I'd recommend professional installation unless you really know your way around a cars electrical system. I went to a car stereo shop, and they took care of it for $..., including wiring it to the the car radio. My wife also has one, and in her car, the phone uses a car radio speaker for the phone speaker. That installation was $...

Summary: Easy to use/ great quality
Review: The nokia car kit is product that every nokia owner should have when traveling. You don't have to any type of earpiece to fumble around with and worry about falling out while you are driving. For safety reasons it is definately a must for nokia product users.
