Summary: Best deal I haver ever gotten! Tracfone rocks!
Review: All I can say is Tracfone is a great deal, if you do not use the phone too much, like I don't then not having a monthly bill is really nice. Also, the phone is crystal clear and sounds better than my previous phone plan, when my second phone plan's contract expires that too will go to tracfone. No evil credit checks and no evil contracts!! Email me for 100 free minutes each if you decide to try, it works I have gotten free minutes for referring friends. Iain1028@hotmail.com
Got to go my Tracfone is ringing while I ring in the savings!!

Summary: Read the fine print
Review: CAUTION: If you have any access days left on your TracFone on the day you redeem this one-year card, you will lose all those days. TracFone has a rule that you only get one year from the date that you redeem the card, not from the time your previously purchase access days expire. I have complained to TracFone about this and I hope they cange this diabolical rule. However, as of August 2003 this rule is still in effect. Similar restrictions are placed on other access time card pucahases, so READ THE FINE PRINT.

Review: Caution: Wait until the very last day to redeem these one-year cards. TracFone will Give 365 access days from the day you redeem the one-year card. If you have any access days remaining on your phone on the day you redeem the one-year card, you will lose those days.
I have complained to TracFone about this. I hope they change this rule. As of 08/20/2003 they still do this.

Summary: I did not lose days for redeeming early!
Review: Despite what one of the earlier reviewers experienced, I did not lose ANY days when I redeemed one of these cards over a month before my due date.

Summary: Mobile Phone for the Masses
Review: For those of us (in the majority) who needs a telephone away from a land-line about five minutes a month, the TracFone is ideal.

For those who need reaffirmation of their self-worth by being constantly available to all and sundry (and chatting about nothing in the company of others, or revealing intimate details of their lives in public places), look elswhere.

Summary: Tracfone where have you been all my life?
Review: Have had Tracfone for 2 months now, it is incredible! I will never go back to conventional cell phone plans ever! No evil credit checks and no evil contracts, this is less that $10 a month (about$8) and it is so cool.
E-mail me for a refferal: Iain1028@hotmail.com and we get 100 minutes each if you try it. It works I have gotten free minutes so far for this! And you can do the same when you are a subscriber.

Summary: It was good until you heard Virgin Mobile...
Review: I bought a Tracfone phone and this 1-year card, cost me about $145 for 150 min. Then I found VM's audiovox 8500 on sale on amazon.com for $80. Its $20 card is good for 3 months, giving you at least 80 min., without roaming fee. So here are the comparisons:

Tracfone: $145 for the 1st year, $95 year after, for 150 min., plus roaming. Ugly phone.

VM: $160 for the 1st year, $80 year after, for at least 320 min., without roaming. Cute phone.

The only minus for VM is that you have to top it at least every 3 months. But you could go to a SamClub to buy a 1-year package for $165, which gives you at least 480 min. air time.

I am going to buy my second Audiovox 8500 after my current 1-year tracfone card expires.

Summary: I had a Good Experience with Tracfone
Review: I bought my Tracfone shortly after moving out of the city and into a more isolated area. There are no payphones here, so I was actually scared to leave the house without a phone. I originally bought my Tracfone from Walmart. But when I got the phone, it wouldn't let me activate it. When I called Tracfone's customer service, the rep told me to send the phone to Florida and they would send me one that did work in my area. He also gave me about twenty free minutes extra for my trouble. (I was scared to send them the phone because I didn't know if I would have problems or if they would send me the new one or what, but I sent it to them.) The new phone arrived within the week. And I was able to activate it just fine. So I ended up with lots of extra minutes. I only use the phone for emergencies or trips to the store. It works great. And I've now renewed with the one year card each year for two years. Because I rarely use the phone, and I took advantage of their specials at renewal time, I've built up over seven hundred minutes in airtime. So when I leave the house, I feel much safer with this phone, and I was able to call home from across town without a problem in a busy store. The only drawback I have with this phone is that you have to keep it charged. That's a bit annoying and I charge it like once every week or two. But I'm very happy with the phone and service at the moment. For me, it's been positive and good.

Summary: absolute worst service - minus 5 stars
Review: I bought this phone without doing proper investigation - the battery does not stay charged, reception is poor, and worst of all, I sent an email 10 days ago to try to get a human response and have yet to hear from anyone. I have been charged 2 units for calls that are dialed and not completed, a practice that a majot hotel chain was sued for a few years back; in summary, to say I feel screwed would be polite. I am sure that the only people happy with Tracfone are their stockholders.
