Rating: Summary: Not a bad headset, but significant weaknesses Review: After a week of use with my iPaq h6315, I'm returning my HS820 in favor of a Jabra FreeSpeak 250. As headsets go, it has the quality one would expect from a Motorola, but it seems that they sacrificed sturdiness and call quality in favor of light weight. Construction is very light and feels rather flimsy. While it is comfortable to wear, the net result was that I spent all my time afraid I'd break it. In contrast, my new Jabra is much sturdier and heavier, but wears just as comfortably, if not more so, than the 820. The very light weight of the 820 and "non-intrusive" speaker design meant that I found myself pressing the headset against my ear to hear the caller, even in very normal backgroudn noise conditions (restaurant, work, etc). Most callers complained that I sounded "very far away". I had significant problems keeping the HS820 connected to my iPaq, and often had to put incoming calls on hold while I sorted problems with the headset. In sum, for the money, and given my generally very good experience with Motorola products in the past, I expected much more from the 820 than it delivered.
Rating: Summary: can't live without it!!! Review: Cannot live without this headset. It matches the Motorola v600 perfectly. It's small, light, and compact, which makes it easier to hide since I have long hair. It certainly grabs attention. My calls are clear, and this totally makes driving handsfree which is a plus. Battery lasts longer than my phone too. I can go on for days without recharging depending on how much I talk. On the downside, ppl frequently ask if I am ok because I look like I'm talking to myself or there's something blue on my ear which I find funny.. HAHAHA.. but that's ok. Another downside is that it switches to the default ring tone and you will not hear the personal ring tones. I don't know if this is normal, but I've grown accustomed to it. Otherwise, I love this headset. The HS810 may have more features as in the fact that you can hear your personal ring tones, etc, but the pulsating light might get annoying. So it all depends.
Rating: Summary: Very Poor Volume Review: Functionaly the headset works fine, however the volume is very weak. If you spend alot a time at airports or places with a bit of background noise I would avoid this headset.
Rating: Summary: Great Product Review: I am surprised by the reviews for this product. There were none here when I decided to buy the 820, so I went to other websites and the reveiws were fairly good. I went ahead and got it (black) and am delighted by its performance.
1. It is very small and lightweight (attracts a lot of attention too).
2. Operation is very easy and you control everything from one button (though it is hard to remember all the features)
3. Volume is fairly good. I have only felt that the volume was low only when I am in a car on a conference call but I think that that is asking too much given that it is hard to follow everyone on a conference even when you are on a land line phone.
4. Range is great. I can easily go to the next room without realizing that I dont have the phone with me.
5. This truly makes handfree driving "handsfree"
Rating: Summary: It is Solid Review: I have been using the HS820 for about 3 months now. It is rock solid. The best part is that it is one piece (i.e. no moving folding flipping parts that can break) which means is it is small, fits easily in your pocket, and (most importantly) will not break mechanically. The sound quality is excellent (although if you have a Treo 650, that phone has some volume issue - not a headset problem but a phone problem). This one is really easy to use and the button on it does so many different things depending on the mode you are in and how long you press it. It can make voice calls, answer and hangup calls, pick up call waiting, make conf calls, and make others all from that one button. Also the volume buttons are nicely placed.
I eventually got one for my brother and two other friends also.
Rating: Summary: Works well, but with sound issues Review: I just got this headset to use with my new Nokia Phone (6230). It seemed to work fine until a few days in I noticed that people's voices were garbled during conversations. It happens to the ringing noise one hears when making a call as well. It sounds exactly like a VoIP call does when there is a bandwidth issue, you're able to make out the conversation, but there's this this background garbled tone to their voice. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe it's my phone...
Rating: Summary: Great voice quality but no noise canceling. Review: I love this headset. It's light, has good voice quality, louder earpiece volume than the phone itself (Mot V710) and the battery outlasts the phone. A previous reviewer mentioned having to carry 2 chargers. Motorola makes a Y adapter so you can charge both your phone and headset from 1 charger. I think I paid under $10 for it but don't quote me. I love the headset but when I'm in an airport, it picks up the background noise as loudly as my voice. If it was noise canceling it would have gotten 5 stars. One last note: My phone doesn't ring when connected to the headset so you must have the headset on to know you have an incoming call. This is a complaint about the phone though not the headset.
Rating: Summary: Nice product !! Review: I'm using mine with the Jabra A210 non-bluetooth phone adapter and it works fine. I've used it in the office on my cellphone (handsfree allows me to type and talk with no wires) I use it in the car and it gives me great movement without wires. Very small clips around the ear and you don't even realize its there. Very pleased with this unit. I charge it overnight and it works all day from 530am till 11pm constantly receiving calls. I've had this for a about a week and I'll leave it on this weekend to see just how long it will last before running out of gas. I'm pleased with the quality of the Microphone and Earpiece. Can't believe just how well the mic works. I can shout and whisper and the volume is constant. This is my first bluetooth earpiece and I'm happy with it ! Some calls have slight distortion, but since other calls are crystal clear, I have to believe its the cellphone connection and not the earpiece.
Rating: Summary: Very cool, but these bluetooth headsets too pricey Review: It I hadn't gotten a $25 credit and the $20 rebate bringing the cost of the headset to $25, I would've never gotten it. Now that I have it though, I'm more than pleased. The battery lasts forever, the sound is great and so is the mic. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it takes some fiddling to get it placed on my ear properly. Everyone asks me what it is and where I got it. It's a definite conversation peice. Highly recommended if you want to spend the cash.
Rating: Summary: El Cheapo Review: This product feels flimsy and cheaply constructed at first. That is because it is flimsy and cheaply constructed. Charging up to $80 for $.20 worth of plastic seems like a crime to me. This product is simply not suited to the everyday life that a Bluetooth accessory endures. It worked fairly poorly from purchase, with it's multi-function button being as finicky as a two year old child. Microphone quality is average. Ear speaker quality is below average. The range from base is quite over stated; at any more than 10 feet from the phone sound becomes very distorted. I have now owned the product for 3 months, and it has (gasp!) stopped working. I am amazed that it lasted this long. I believe that Bluetooth technology is a boon for the wireless nation. I think that it may even save lives. I also think that Motorola's entry into this world is an abject failure. A cheap, overpriced piece of garbage. For shame, Motorola. For shame.
