Summary: Separate the phone from the service
Review: I've read most of the customer reviews, and it seems to me too many people are confusing the phone with the local service. I have only had my 8500 a few days, but this is what I have learned so far.-In the Salt Lake City metro area, signal strength is not a problem. Signal strengh is as good or better than my previous service provider: AT&T. -The phone itself is very impressive for the price, assuming you don't need color, bells and whistles. -The little rubber cover that protects the connector at the bottom of the phone, as nearly as I can tell, was not designed to remain with the phone. I suspect it was only meant for shipping purposes. None of my other cell phones have had such covers, so I cannot consider this a problem. -My only significant complaint would be the little speaker. It is weak. Anything over volume level 2 begins to overdrives the little speaker and distorts the audio signal, but I can hear just fine at level 2, so it is not a significant problem for me. -Downloadable ringtones from Virgin are not impressive--unless you're big into MTV or VH1. Other than that, I am impressed with the overall quality of the Virgin Mobile service, and they are less expensive than the other pre-paid services. -The menus on the phone are not as user friendly as they might be, but I would consider this to be only a minor design flaw. I cannot speak to the reliability of the phone yet, but overall, I would have to say it is an impressive little phone--and I do mean "little."

Summary: Pretty Cool
Review: This phone is pretty cool ... it has the basics and a few extra features. One thing it lacks is games... if it had games it would definaltley be 5 stars. The 7 different backlights are cool ... but i wish i could have a red backlight. The rubber "thing" that protects the port where you charge it .. is really easy to lose .. lost mine the first day. Overall the phone is awesome.

Review: OMG this phone is so tight you dont even know. When i got it i swear i was stunned or something.That speakerphone is just blowin my mind and those 7 different LCD backlights are just awesome. I really like the blue cause it is very bright and come on we dont want a dull phone now. lol i love this phone it is so tiny and i love the polyphonic ringtones cause the sound so real and they are so long and it is just the bomb.I like how you can change the display to animation and stuff to like 7 different things i really like the stopwatch display. Audiovox 8500 REPRESENT! Highly highly reccommend.PEACE OUT thugs!

Summary: Pleased Customer
Review: This Virgin Mobile fone is excellent. It has a great price compared to what people with plans pay. I like the rate plan but it would be better if it was a flat rate .10 instead of the first ten minutes .25 cents and .10 for the rest of the day. The crome finish adds a nice touch and the polyphonic ringtones sounds almost just like the real things. Sprints network was a good choise too. I would consider this to be the best Prepaid Service yet. O and did i say that you have a web browser for only .10 a day.

Summary: Can't complain too much....
Review: I've owned this phone for a while now and I can't really complain with it's performance. I'm not really one to talk constantly on my cell, so I like the pre-paid system. The aspects I enjoy on the phone include it's small size and speaker phone capability; both very convenient features. I also like the wide variety of polyphonic ringtones and I am able to receive both text and voice messages pretty quickly. However, I hate that there are no games on the phone. I also don't think the reception is too great either, but I guess some would beg to differ. To sum it up, I am content with this phone and would recommend buying it for the one who doesn't tend to talk that much and will benefit form the pre-paid plan.

After searching for the cheapest cell phone plan,i was getting ready to cave in to the all to exspensive plans for folks unlike me.
I very rarly use a cell phone maybe 2-4 calls a day but I needed a cell phone, so i thought i was behind the eightball on this one....then I found v-mobile and i LOVE IT !! I have only had it a week but i love it the phone is tiny and easy to use, yes the manual is big but,they give you a quick-start guide to get ya going, then when you have time and your a little more familiar with the phone you go read it and it's alot easier to understand.
it has voice dial, auto memo,(which I love because I forget everything)and lots of other features. The phone gives me clear calls all the time, no dropped calls, and when i activated it online i got $5.00 free air time!!!!!
You can also register online for airtime so you can add more mins. right from the phone,just a press of the button!!
All-N-All it is a great phone.
also the acessories are not too exspensive.

Summary: the phone is alright
Review: I was really excited when I purchased this phone in Sept., but as time went on I keep finding reasons why I want to just by a phone plan. The number one thing that makes me mad is that I never get any phones calls, meaning that when a friend calls my phone will say that it's no longer in service. This gets confusing to my family and friends and I know that I have money on my phone. Also the no games thing is also a bummer. I also use alot more mins then I originally thought I would use less. But I end up using 30 dollars every two weeks. Only buy if your not going to use alot of mins. The good thing about it was the reception was really good.

Review: Conviently compact in size but cheap and janky software. Messed up on me within 33 days of owning it then had to wait 2 months to get another one. Now after 4 months of having the new phone, it is messing up again. It tries to reboot like a computer and at times when I try to dial a number it will act as if it were dialing but never does. It just wastes my minutes. I am displeased with Audiovoxs' attempt in making cell phones.

Summary: Nice little phone, BUT theres some things you should know
Review: When i first bouight this phone i loved it.It looked hot, it waslight,small,and easy to carry.Its been about 3 months since I bought it and I still like it, but the fact that it doesn't have any games is a bit rough if you're a person who gets bored easily.Also its a little difficult to operate and set things up once you get it, but when you get the hang of it anybody can handle it. The signal has never been a problem for me either, even if there is only a few bars you and ther person that you're talking to come in crystal clear. I've called on this phone from Philly, a lot in NY, and all the way down to west virginia. go cuse!

Review: The only Audiovox product I've ever owned in my life was a cheap little FM radio, so I was weary when considering this brand of cell phone. However, I must say that I'm very impressed with this little phone and would definitely recommend it. First off - unless you want a car charger, you probably won't need to buy anything extra. Mine came with the phone itself, a slim battery that goes in the phone, a wall outlet charger, and various manuals and brochures. It's important to note that the user interface takes a little getting used to (like any cell phone) and the manual is definitely not well written. That said, if this is your first cell phone and you've never used one before, plan to spend an hour or two fiddling with things so you will understand how your phone works. This is my first cell phone. I bought it for emergency use (I have an older vehicle that seems to be getting some ideas...) and "where are you" phone calls (my friends seem to get lost regularly). I worked for AT&T Wireless this summer, so I knew to read the terms and conditions before I started using a cell phone service, and I was delighted to find no surprises hidden in the fine print on Virgin Mobile's service. As a matter of fact, the T&C's weren't even in fine print. No matter who you go with, read the conditions of service. You are guaranteed to find something that will either benefit you or shock you, and either way you'll be glad you read over things before handing a company your money. I do not like Virgin Mobile's advertising, but their prices and coverage in my area were persuasively better than any of the other pre-paid carriers. It is important to realize that Virgin Mobile operates using the Sprint PCS network, so if you have Sprint wireless service that is wonderful, you will likely have the same good coverage with Virgin. However, if you or some of your friends have Sprint and coverage is spotty, don't expect much more from Virgin. I have found the coverage to be excellent and just as advertised. I use my phone mostly in the Oklahoma City area, but also travel to the panhandle of Texas a few times a year. So far I have not experienced any dropped calls and I have only been out of the service area a few times, and it was always when I was in the middle of nowhere. As far as costs go, the first two months I spent about as much money on my pre-paid phone as I would have on a normal cell phone. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you will be using your cell phone every day, you should definitely consider a normal month-to-month plan and skip the pre-paid phones. While it's nice that Virgin lowers the price of your minutes the longer you talk, I've found that I usually only use 3-8 minutes on days when I actually use my phone, so the lower prices for extended use don't really help me. Also, you don't get any of the "free" perks with a pre-paid phone that you get with a plan, such as free nights and weekends, free mobile-to-mobile, etc. Again, if you plan to use your phone every day or even every other day you'd probably be best going with a normal cell phone service. Overall, I would definitely recommend both this phone and the accompanying Virgin Mobile service.
