LG L1150 Phone - Next Generation (AT&T)

Summary: This is a great as well as unique phone
Review: I've had this phone for about two weeks now and I really like it. It has really good reception. Like I could hear all of my calls loud and clear even with loud music in the background. I haven't had any dropped calls yet, but I'm sure that will come. It has a very stylish design as well. The phone is blue and silver and thin and light-weighted. There is a really great camera too.
Although this is a cool phone, it has very poor audio. Ringtones for this phone SUCKS! You have the really search hard to download nice sounding ringtones. It comes with only one game which seems like a remake of the snake game from the Nokia cellphone, but you can download games at www.jamdat.com for $4.00. Other than those few cons, this is a really great phone and I would recommend it to anyone!

Summary: neat little phone
Review: after swearing i would never have a flip phone, i am now the proud owner of this little bugger. i had previously owned a sony ericsson T616 (see my other review), but swapped it for the LG after about a week.

this phone is great. however, the GSM service in my area is pretty good, so that helps. most people want to blame the phone for clarity issues or dropped calls, but usually the problem resides with your cell phone provider. i haven't had any dropped calls yet, and the clarity is on par with my old nokia 3560, which was on the (better, i believe) TDMA network.

the good:

* lightweight. yes, i am huge fan of the flip phone now. no more buttons getting pushed accidentally while residing in my purse.
* sleek, stylish design. it's just a cool looking phone.
* clarity of calls is great.
* good feature set - not too many bells & whistles, just enough to keep you happy.
* improved LG menu. i have seen the LG menus on older phones and they were confusing! the menus (i have mine set to "icon" style) are easy to understand and colourful.
* calls while on headset are clear.

the bad:

* ringtones ARE awful. half the time, i can't even hear the phone ring when i am right next to it. and yes, i have the volume turned up pretty high. if your phone is in your purse or pocket, you might be missing a lot of calls.
* another reviewer commented on the picture phone part of this LG model. yes, the pictures seem to be better than some other phones, but again, remember, this is a camera PHONE, and you shouldn't expect anything more than small, grainy photos that are pretty much only good for being used as wallpaper on your phone. i was surprised to see all the options for the pictures (b&w, sepia, zoom, white balance) - weird! i didn't know people would be that into using this as a camera.

the other:

as far as i know, you can't get these pictures off your phone. i actually did quite a bit of reading (on the internet) about this. apparently, there is a cable you can use with this phone - it's the same cable used with the LG VX6000. however, finding the software is another issue. i have read you can get some basic LG software on their website.

i haven't actually worked with it, but was able to download it successfully. i haven't tried the infrared port yet either. i think the basic consensus right now is that it's pretty darn hard to get these pics off your phone without paying for it.

battery life is nowhere near where at&t or LG will tell you it is. beware of this. some people think this has great battery life, some think it stinks. this all depends on what kind of phone the person had before they got this one. personally, i think the GSM network sucks up more battery life than the older TDMA network. my old nokia 3560 would get about 6-7 days standby and about 6-8 hours talk time. this phone gets about 2-3 days standby (if you're not using it much) and about 3-4 hours talk time. this is for the casual user. if you use it a ton, plan on charging it about every day and a half.

overall, i love this phone. i wish the battery life was better, but that's really it. i am very happy with everything else. oh, and mMode SUCKS. don't waste your money. :)

Review: For all the cool people ou there, I would recommend this phone for any users.. I had a sony ericsson T610 before and I really liked that phone a lot. After using it for a year, I thought I would go for a new phone/contract. Found this super cool LG L1150 phone at amazon and my search for that one ultimate phone ended here.. All my friends are now waiting for their contract to get over to get this new phone.. I guess the amazon offer on this phone wont last long .. so if you are getting a great deal on this phone, just go for it..

Summary: Cute and with an attitude.
Review: I got this phone on the day it was released. The way it looked was the first thing that caught my attention. It is a dark blue with silver trim, it's very stylish. It has a Blue external screen. The outer screen serves for Caller ID and to let you know when you recieved text, SMS, or voicemails. It also tells you the Time and date. The inside of the phone is also very stylish it has a big, bright and colorful screen. The AT&T logo is display high on the screen and the time and date on the very bottom. So if you wanna display pics on your Phone screen as wallpapers the logos will not get in the way of the pic to much. The numbers on the inside glow blue and are nice and big. you have a volume button on the left side of the phone. The pad that you use to navigate through the phones menues is round and has shortcuts to Text messaging, Ringtones, Instant Meassaging, and your contact book. Saves a lot of time instead of thumbing through a bunch of menus. Espcially for any people(Like me) who change Ringtones and wallpapers like they change underwear, Frequently. You also have 2 specific buttons for your camera access, one on the right side of the phone and the other on the inside of the phone. There is also a button for you to access the pictures that you have taken. Again, shortcuts to keep you from pressing to many buttons and thumbing through menus. The camera has about 4 difrent picture sizes that you can pick from. The phone also has a mirror on the front for you to be able to take pics of yourself without all the guess work. It also comes with 4 effects that you can add to your pics. You can also add pics of your friends and family to your contacts so that you have caller ID with picture. you can also asign diffrent ringtones to diferent people. the phone is pretty loud it has a good sound quality to it. The menus are pretty straight forward and understandable, they are also animated. Also one thing I DID like about the phone was that it is very thin for a flip phone and very light wight. I really like that. It comes with one game, a new version of snake. It has about 35 ringtones that come with the phone.
I am very happy with my phone, but not all is well and good with this phone. It does have a couple of things that I did not care for. One thing is that you can not control the brightness of the Color screen, and it is VERY bright. I mean do not try answering a text message in the middle of a movie. You will light up the whole little area of where you are sitting. I also mentioned that it came with about 35 ringtones, well.... they all pretty much suck. Then if you are kind deaf like me and need to have your cell phone loud as possible to hear it ring, we have a problem. when you put your phone to ring at it's loudest, the ringtones sound muffuled and distorted. Then there's the fact that AT&T do not have "ANYTHING" on there website for you to download on to your phone, no Ringtones, no wallpaers, no games, no applications, no nothing. I had to go to independent websites to find the ringtones and wallpapers that I wanted. Those would have to be the only pet peves that I have about my phone, but in any case everything can not be perfect. I am happy with my purchase the phone is good and I plan on keeping my phone for the forseeable future.

Summary: Cool phone, unless you want to get your pics OFF of it!!
Review: I was very excited to get this phone; it's small, has excellent reception, activated with no problem. Then I started taking pictures with it, and was even more excited. The photo quality is the best I've seen on a camera phone (but it's still a camera PHONE, so don't expect this to replace your digital camera.) The camera has a "zoom" that is really only two options: close or far. But stiil, better than no option. You can change the picture settings from color, sepia, or b&w, which gives your photos more of an artistic edge. You can also choose the resolution of your pics to save space on the phone or get better photos. After snapping like 10 pics of my cats, I wanted to see how they looked on a larger computer screen, so I opened up the manual and tried to figure out how to send the photos to my computer via the IR port. After several hours of searchning the manual, AT&T's website, and online forums, I found out that the ONLY way to get the photos off this phone is to send a photo message, which will cost you $0.40 per message. Why would they make a camera phone where you can't get your pics?? If you don't mind paying exorbitant fees to have your photos emailed to you, then this is the phone for you. But if you just want to be able to send your photos for free to your computer, you're out of luck. LG claims the phone is too new, and they haven't developed any software to send photos yet. They also claim to have a cable comming soon that will be able to directly send photos to your computer. So, if you have to have this phone for taking pictures, I recommend waiting until those things really become available.

Summary: Ok midrange phone
Review: This is one neat phone! I really love the clarity it has compared with other cellular phones. I've been a Nokia fan but this little gem is really worth a second look. It is simple to use and you can actually adjust the ringer volume, the keypad volume, even the LCD Display backlight can be turned off. You can also actually hear the person on the other end of the line without struggling, a big plus. I haven't really gotten into trying any of the camera fuctions, but it seems like a nice option if you wish to share photos with your friends via messaging. Especially if you are christmas shopping and want some help from family and friends who aren't shopping with you. The battery has a fair amount of standby time but could be better for talk time. I'd reccommend an extended battery for this one if you find yourself on your cell continuessly. Otherwise it's sure to be a delight.
