Summary: Nice!!....
Review: Ok, for all those people complaining about this phone, you guys do not know what you are talking about. First of all, the external LCD does light up and it displays Caller ID. Second, the keypad does light up too. Third, the battery life is very descent requiring you don't use as an MP3 player always. The talk time and stand by time is good. Finally, the volume is very clear and loud.

Pros: I like the Windows software making it easy to navigate if you are familiar with Windows. Having Windows Media Player in the phone is excellent. I can play MP3 on it (the phone converts it into WMA.) I also like that you can hook it up to your PC and copy and paste files in the phone. There's a slot for a mulitmedia/secure digital card (this is where I save my musics.) On a 16MB card, you can only fit about 4-5 songs. The screen is excellent and very sharp; the best I've seen so far. It has speakerphone and voice recorder capabilities, which comes in handy for me. It comes with a stereo headphones which is also a headset for talking. The cradle is excellent which connects it to your USB and charges your phone at the same time. You can also download the theme creator from Microsoft so you can customized your phone according to how you want it.

Cons: The service sucks: Wireless and Customer Care. I'm trying to port or transfer my cingular number and so far it's been taking forever and that's just trying to contact At&t. I was on hold for 2 hours so I tried again the next day and waited for another 3 hours. Then the customer rep screwed up the porting and gave me two accounts. HELLOOOOO, I only have one phone....Geez..I swear I went from one rep to another and another and another trying to fix this. They told me I need to buy another SIM card for their screw up. They did credit me for it. They suck big time. They even screwed up my plan, also.

After all of this I ended up giving the account to my mother. I got my MPX200 unlocked and used my T-Mobile SIM card. I'm very happy with the phone through T-Mobile. Oh yeah, At&t won't unlock my phone. They said they do not do that. They are so full of it. I paid somebody to unlock my MPX200. Did you know T-Mobile unlock their phones without any questions? Unlike At&t, they are very good in customer service.

Ok, the phone tends to lag from time to time when you have many applications running. That's all.

Again, very happy with this phone while on the T-Mobile network.
At&t [is bad]!!

Summary: AT&T, It must be good?
Review: I bought this product because of the phone. I needed a PDA for work and a cell phone. The PDA phone is nice, although the lack of a stylus made me very anxious when trying to enter anything into the calendar/addresses.
I ended up canceling the plan when I couldn't use Intellisync to link Groupwise to this phone (they haven't made a compatible software yet)...and I had called customer service 3 times and was on hold for a MINIMUM of 30 minutes and a MAXIMUM of 1 HOUR and 45 MINUTES to talk to someone! My first call, the battery died after 50 minutes. Then I reached someone and needed to do an 'area code move'... the girl in CANADA insisted that the area code in another state was local, but she was nice. All in all, a bad experience for the service.
However, the phone sync-ed nicely to Outlook at home. I would recommend this phone to someone who doesn't write appointments away from their computer, but would not recommend the service.

Summary: Voice-Dial Problem
Review: Voice-dial is bad. It allows me to use 1 button to control volume and voice-dial. Scrolling up the button means higher volume, Scrolling down the button means lower the volume. Pressing the button means voice-dial. A lot of time I tried to use voice-dial, so I press the button, but 20% of time it reconize that I scroll up or down the button, so it adjust the volume instead of voice-dial.

Summary: Adequate, but still quite a lot of work to do
Review: I don't know what these great reviews on the MPX200 are raving about. The phone is a little above average in service but with a good cosmetic outlook. All right where do I start? The contacts don't display well. I have just 130 contacts, yet it takes a while to match the caller with my database. I hear it is a bug. There is no provision to put calling card info in! In all the phones I have used it is the first missing that.

Oh, how about the voice dial?? You push some quaky side button which you get right 2 of 10times. How do you want me to battle with such during traffic? Unlike the treo where you could just click on the speakerphone here it is a 3 click process.

And to switch to silent mode? I have to do 3 clicks!! Then there is this "cool" feature that it will switch to silent mode automatically when it sees a meeting appointment. This works sometimes only obviously another bug.

Then to put it on plane mode? another 3 clicks!! and if not done properly, you can turn off the cell!!

It has its good points. Its adequate for now, but Microsoft and Motorola need to go back to the drawing board and correct the flaws.

Summary: Not meant for the Orange County or Los Angeles area
Review: I have been researching this phone quite a bit, and seemed very satisfied about what I was hearing. That is until I talked to an AT&T guy at an AT&T store. He told me that I should not buy the phone because of the weak service in our area. He said that they were contracted to carry the phone in the store even though it would perform horribly. He said the phone is not equipped to handle 850 on the GSM network. It runs on 1900 which is okay if you live in an area that is not as populated with buildings as we have in the LA/OC area. He said the phone would barely work outside, and would drop most calls inside buidings, and even around corners. I was very disapointed with what I had just heard. He agreed that they would be selling a ton of them in our area if this was not a problem, because it was such a great phone. I asked him if there was an MPX 220 coming out (I think I read a review here that mentioned that model #), or some better model, and he said that he has not heard of anything like that. He checked his computer and confirmed his suspicion. I hope there will an upgrade soon. It makes little sense not too, because you would be depriving one of your most populated areas, which is bad for us, and a horrible business decision in terms of profits. I am in need of a PDA/phone that this smartphone could have taken care of. I don't want to carry a PDA and a phone. Another drawback to this phone which needs to be looked into a bit is when it comes to Pocket Word, and I think Pocket Excel too. I guess you can only view these types of files, and would not be able to edit or compose them. It doesn't come with the phone as is. You have to send a way for it on a 32 mb sd chip(I believe it is free). But since it is on a SD chip, it seems to me that you would have to be content with a 32 mb worth of space if you want to have constant acess to the above programs. That kinda sucks! So even if you don't live in my area, I think it would be wise to go to your local AT&T store and ask if this phone gets good service your area. I was really surprised that it took me so long to get this info. I went to Best Buy, Fry's, and even called 611 and talked to them about the phone and no one even mentioned it might be a problem until I went to the AT&T store( where you can actually mess with the phone; other stores carry a fake model). I would appreciate a recommendation on a phone/PDA that is in this price range that works well in my area. I hope this helps.

Summary: A copy of my E-mail to amazon
Review: after reading the horror stories by almost half of your customers and the fact that there is NO phone # to call for customer service I am canceling my order as I do not want to deal with any of the problems encountered by others ordering a cell phone from you. I cancelled my order and my bank HAS NOT been drafted please make a note of this.

Summary: I never seen worse than amazon service
Review: I ordered the phone 8 days ago and signed up for 2nd day delivery. Amazon kept sending me daily emails: sorry for the delay.... if you're not satisfied return the phone when you recieve it!!!. if you're in a hurry for the phone don't order it from here. u can find it at the same price in several other websites. I don't know if amazon is fair enough to let this review appear.

Summary: Very good phone with lots of features.
Review: I never had a PDA before because they were bulky and who wants to carry one in addition to their phone. This phone fits the bill, it has Outlook built in and with a SD MMC card you can load it up with other applications like Pocket Word, dictionaries, games, photos, etc. It also play music and videos through Windows media player. The music plays fine but it would be nice if you could load up only certain songs instead of every song on the phone at once, makes it hard to find that one song. If you use iTunes and download an AAC format song, it will not play using the standard Windows media player on the phone. It plays regular MP3s perfectly fine. Although it can play videos, don't expect a smooth frame rate, its very choppy almost to the point of being unwatchable but the sound during the video plays fine. The color screen is good, I downloaded some one megapixel pictures to the phone and you can make out faces but without a zoom function its hard to see (I'm sure you could download an app that has better functions). As you can see I don't really use it that much for business, mainly for the organizer and for entertainment... which it does quite well. The phone comes with solitaire and a lemonade game. You can download a ton of other games through various websites but you do have to pay them (if anyone know of free downloads let me know please :). It doesn't have a camera (who needs that horrible phone camera resolution) or bluetooth but the MPX220 which is rumored to come out early next year should have it (which is why this camera is free). All in all its a great phone with a great discount and I recommend it if you want PDA functionality on your phone.

Summary: Very happy with this phone
Review: I got this phone about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I have been looking for a phone that combines a PDA functionality without breaking the bank and this is it! The only thing I would change is the way you enter things into the phone. It is a little tedious using the keypad instad of the Palm interface.
however, this phone was free with the rebates and I can't complain. AT & T's service has been fine for me. I was a little worried at first since they have a lot of bad reviews, but so far, no problems for me. I even get a signal inside the mall, which I never got with Sprint.

Summary: First Generation Smart Phone and it shows!
Review: This is a pretty mediocre phone by Motorola standards - had and very much liked both their StarTac and V60.

The MPX200 has gobs of coolness with its Mini-Windows OS (Smartphone 2002, formerly PPC Mobile, formerly...) , Windows Media Player, SD slot, and near perfect syncronization with your desktops Outlook. But it really falls flat in the basic "hands-free" road-warrior mode. Both the stereo and mono headsets are completely useless. The external call/answer buttons are noticeably broken. Motorola is aware of this and claims they are working on it but it is more likely they are only scrambling to fix this in the rumoured MPX220. Oh, yeah. They haven't offered SmartPhone 2003 upgrades either - pretty cheesy!

My advise: If your phone has to work for a living like mine, wait for something better. If you just want the coolest phone/MP3 player, wait anyway - the MPX220 is rumoured to have a camera.
