Rating: Summary: Pick a CDMA instead Review: . The Nokia 5125 will only work on the TDMAnetwork. However the Nokia 2285 and 5180i (also available from Amazon.com) will work anywhere in the USA because they are CDMA. The Motorola 120c is also a CDMA phone. IF you are in a TDMA area, you want to have a CDMA phone anyway if you travel or move. The phone come with 10 free units (20 if you activate on line). You can also receive 100 free units by E-mail from Tracfone if you *activate* your phone after a friend (who already has her Tracfone) refers you (she also receives 100 minutes). 120 units out of the box is a good deal. If you don't know anybody you can E-mail me, I'll make sure you receive the $30.00 Tracfone deal. My E-mail : second_tracfone@lycos.com You can add units at Amazon or Tracfone. One minute will take one unit if you phone from your area map and two units if you phone out of it (roaming) however local or long distance are the same rate. If you want to move, you can change your area code or phone number (maximum four times a year) by calling Tracfone. I'm in a digital area so the sound is great, however I'm *not* in an area with text messaging available. You can set up your voice mail by calling your 1221 from another phone (save your units) and by using # to set your code and voice greeting. The phone always show the amount of units and their expiration. Calls less than fifteen seconds won't be charged. The activation is easy but very long, you need to be on line entering many codes on your 5125 phone. Both keypads and faceplates are easy to change. I bought a lighter rapid charger because the original was ... slow and heavy. Any car charger is a rapid one by the way.
Rating: Summary: Very poor customer service Review: A phone is only as good as the customer service. The customer service for the tracfone is completely worthless. I have called a number of times only to speak to someone who is either completely illiterate, completely clueless or completely incompetent. I have been repeatedly put on hold, asked the same questions and have been cut off only to have to call back. When asked to speak to a supervisor I am told that they are busy.
The phone itself is adequate but a bit oversized for my taste.
I could not recommend this phone or service at this time.
Rating: Summary: Vibration Mode Review: As far as the vibration mode, this is a function of the battery, not the phone. We bought a new vibrating battery for $7 and it is working fine, problem solved. If you want a fancy modern phone, you will need to spend a lot more money. If you want a basic reliable phone for traveling and emergencies, this is the best and lowest cost one we have used. If you really want an expensive phone, sign up for a 2 year contact with the works - OUCH!
Rating: Summary: This phone is perfect for my needs! Review: I bought a prepaid cellular Tracphone from Sam's Club a month ago and let me tell you this is definitely the way to go. I was moving from Wisconsin to Texas and needed a phone so I could keep in contact. I activated the phone in WI and in 15 minutes had an active TX area phone number. Then, while traveling I always had a good signal with no roaming the entire time! The reception was always excellent. For $70 I got a brand new phone with 1-year activation and 120 minutes (10 minutes included + 10 additional minutes for online activation + 100 minute because of a email referral by a friend)! Also, the other thing I love is that phone displays the number of minutes left. It also includes voice mail, call waiting, caller ID. You can setup and access your voicemail from a regular phone and never use prepaid minutes. If you work it right you can get the cost down to 10 cents a minute and they always rollover as long as you're active. More importantly it's great for people like me who won't talk more then 60 min/month. As far as the customer service, I've had no problems and can't relate to some of the bad reviews I've read. If you need 100-minute referral please email me at cgcoleby@yahoo.com Cherise
Rating: Summary: Good phone, wish I'd kept it. Review: I got this phone for my birthday a couple years ago, and it was my first cellphone. Unfortunately, my service provider AT&T was pretty bad with reception (especially since i lived in a basement) so i returned it. But as far as the phone itself, its very comfortable and easy-to-use, as long as you have a good-sounding carrier. Overall a nice looking simple phone which i kind of feel bad for returning since it was a gift. But if you have a good carrier as i said, it's a sweet little phone. Thanks!

Rating: Summary: Best for people who make or recieve few unexpected calls Review: I have had this phone for a year now, and am in the completion process of getting a newer prepaid phone and service. My reason being the nokia 5125 is the simplest phone, which can be excellent or annoying depending on what you look for in a phone. It is big, so it never fit in my little purse, but fine if you have a big purse or wear it on your belt. The games are simple arcade style with digital blocks. They dont even cure your boredom. But a phone is not supposed to be entertainment anyway. Contact numbers are simple to put in and find, so easy that if you want to place several numbers under one name, i dont think you can do it. The alarm is easy to set, it's not a.m. or p.m. so you wont mess up if you want to be notified within 12 hours. The only real complain I had from the begining is that if you dont press end call when you're through talking , or you think you did, the minutes will keep deducting which is horrible if you bought a 300 minute card, made a few first calls, then realize two hours later, you're phone is still stealing your minutes. Talk about throwing your money away. I was ready to throw the phone against the wall. But anyone can avoid this by knowing you must make sure the call has ended. Otherwise, i'd keep using this if I made short little calls here and there. But I am a teenager with a social life, and I dont like my friends calling the house phone, so I use my cell alot, meaning I need a phone that doesn't make me go manic.

Rating: Summary: Good "Old School" Wireless Review: I purchased a 5125 through Tracfone wireless in Dec '03, and here's my quick review:
Plus: sturdy unit, long battery life, recharges quickly, good "Old School" phone features.
Minus: "Old School" phone type might turn off most cell phone shoppers, not very compact (even in your pocket), no polyphonic ringtones.
A quick review of the Tracfone service:
Plus: no committments, pay for only the minutes you use, extremely quick setup, reasonable rates.
Minus: tech support via phone can be very trying, code-entering will annoy the younger set, you can't use certain tracfones for your calling area.
