Summary: Good choice for a non-camera-phone
Review: An excellent, inexpensive phone for those who want the latest features but DON'T need a camera. Supports games, polyphonic ringtones, wireless internet, IM. The phone has plenty of memory for contacts and extras. It has great signal strength so far, after two weeks of use (Cingular in Seattle). The battery was long-lasting even on the 1st charge.

Some cons:

This phone is a little bulky - slightly thicker than a deck of cards - and boxy.

The keys are hard and very solid; extensive game-playing or long text messages will give you sore thumbs. The keys are hard to press if you use your fingernails (they "rock" without engaging), but they are big enough to hit with your fingertips. It is easy to mistakenly hit 8 instead of 5.

The screen is very difficult to read when the backlight is off, and the light turns off quickly (15 seconds, there doesn't seem to be a way to change this setting). The screen stays lit during games.

This is a NEW phone (Sept 2004), and as of yet there are not very many games available. I have also seen 3rd-party content providers (for ringtones, etc.) that do not support it yet.

Since it isn't a flip-phone, the keylock is important, but there is no dedicated button, nor are there onscreen instructions. (The keypad is locked by hitting * while in the main menu.)

Despite the drawbacks, I am happy with my purchase. Don't buy it just for games (difficult to play/few available), but the other features are excellent. (...)

Summary: Excellent phone with no excess fat!
Review: I have been a long time Cingular customer, and this is my fourth Nokia phone. I just came from a 6340i, and before that I had a 3595 for a couple days. The 3595 was very buzzy, and just had an overall feeling of cheapness to it, that's why I got into a 6340i. Anyway, I just got into the 6010 and it is a huge improvement over the 3595 it replaces. It has the clearest sound quality of any cell phone I have ever heard. In fact, it is clearer than any portable phone I have used as well. People on the other end report that they can hear me crystal clear.

The phone has a nice heft and solidity to it that I find attractive. The styling and color are really nice, and the buttons are well laid out with a good solid feel. I like the fact that this phone is simply a phone. No camera, camcorder, PDA, etc. All I want is an inexpensive phone that is durable and allows me to have a nice conversation with someone. The Nokia delivers that in spades. I am very pleased with the Nokia 6010.

Summary: Good phone, but does it come with accessories?
Review: I just bought this phone from Amazon.com with Cingular. It is a good phone, in terms of receiption and simplicity. No fancy features. But still a very good basic phone.
I just has one question on this 6010 from Amazon.com: does it come with some accessories, like earphone, etc? The package I received just includes the phone, the battery. That is all!
No earphone! Could anybody confirm there is no accessory with this phone from amazon?

Summary: Very good at all the things you want a cell PHONE to do
Review: I lost my Motorola V60 (a flip-phone, and I liked it fine) and replaced it with this one. I was hesitant at first because it's not a flip-phone (would I dial by accident, is it too big etc.) and the answers, it turns out, are No and No.
However, the backlight doesn't stay on long enough (15 seconds) and there is no way to alter that. Minor annoyance.
Other than that, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone who just wants a good phone...to use as a phone. I'm with T-Mobile and coverage and reception are perfect (here in S.F. anyway.) Battery life is excellent. I'd actually give it 4 1/2 stars.

Summary: Nicely Designed Phone
Review: If you're not wedded to the folding-style, this is an excellent phone. Perhaps the best thing about it is its keypad: dialing the numbers is almost as easy as doing so on your home phone. You can also store multiple phone numbers under a single name and "tag" each one with a little icon that lets you know if it's home, mobile, work, etc. You can add a "voice tag" to 10 numbers of your choice: just hold the contacts button for a full second, speak the person's name, and the phone automatically dials the number. The sound is quite good for a cell phone. The battery has a decent long life before it needs recharging. A small rubber pad built into the back of the phone prevents it from sliding when lying on hard surfaces. The only criticism--and it's a small one--is that there's no quick way (at least none that I've found) to put the phone on vibrate alert (like pressing and holding down the "#" key, e.g.). You have to go Menu-Profiles-Silent-Select (which is not too much trouble, but it would be nice if there were a quicker way to do it).

Summary: Cingular is deceptive
Review: My review is on Cingular. I bought a phone w/service and was told I could return for full refund and only charged for any air time used. THEY LIE. THE PHONE DID NOT WORK IN MY AREA AND I CANCELLED THE NEXT DAY. THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR ACTIVATION even though it never worked in my area. If you are uncertain you will keep the phone and service, DON'T BUY from Cingular. Amazon will also do nothing to reimburse.

Summary: Good average phone
Review: Someone in my family lost their cell phone on the bus (to protect the guilty, I remain silent) and needed a replacement phone. We decided on the Nokia 6010 basically because of cost concerns. The phone was in our price range. Here are some first impressions on the phone:

Form Factor: This is yet another 'candy bar' phone. It is oblong in shape and has no cover. The buttons are flush-flat and are backlit with a soft glow when any button is touched or a phone call is coming in. The unit is slimmer in design then it's other low cost cousins and is made out of plastic. The phone is slippery and will need a phone cover for the butter fingered.

Reception: Pretty good. The sensitivity is a little bit better than average.

Sound Quality: Odd. When we were testing this phone out, the caller receiving the call at the other end mentioned that the Nokia's broadcast sounded like somebody talking inside of a tunnel. Lots of echo. Strange.

Display: Passing. The screen is bright enough to see in moderate to bright light. The images look a little chunky and the color could be more saturated. But overall, not bad.

Ring Tones: Comes with a good variety of ringtones. This model has polyphonic sounding ringtones. This is a fancy way of saying that the sounds are stereo-like and quite full. Pretty entertaining.

Navigation: If you have used a Nokia before, you will adjust to the menu system without too much trouble. However, newcomers will find the menus/submenus a bit daunting and non-logical. Read the manual for help. The Nokia menus allow you to enter new phone numbers, activate 1-touch dialing, set ring tones and volume, play games, set a screen image, etc.

Overall Impression: Pretty nice basic phone. I rate this phone about a 4.
