Summary: I love the Free Minutes and Rebates Too!
Review: Tracfone is one of the best, and I love them. I have referred a ton of friends and family and the best part is that you get free minutes!
In February: For all considering starting a new line of service, Email an existing Tracfone user and TracFone will send you an email to register online with TracFone. Once you do this, you get 100 free minutes and they get free minutes. Since I use my TracFone all the time and I use the minutes, I even give people back $5 bucks rebate for letting me refer them (cheaper for me to pay $5 rather than $30). I am sure other TracFone users do this also, just email them and ask. If you are looking to purchase additional minutes, try amazon, local stores, or ebay.
The best part is that no spam comes your way, since the email is from TracFone. I use Yahoo email incase TracFone spammed me, but I have not gotten any spam.
Purchase the Phone/Service, It really works and is a great deal.

Summary: Simple,Economical & Get Free Minutes
Review: Tracfone is perfect for people who use less than 50 minutes per month. Why pay $30 per month when you can keep a tracfone for around $9 a month. The Nokia is the least expensive phone they offer. It's easy to use. Not the smallest or lightest, but fine for my needs. If you are a new user you can get 100 free referral minutes. Just e-mail me at scottyjny@yahoo.com and I will be happy to send referral to you or answer any questions about tracfone. Enjoy the savings.

Summary: Do your research first
Review: Tracfone, which is a company based in Mexico, is very shaky at best. After almost a year of trying them out, we're finally throwing in the towel and giving another pay-as-you-go company (Virgin Mobile) a try. At least the phones with Virgin Mobile aren't models from 5 years ago. But the problem(s) we've had with Tracfone, aside from trying to communicate with their phone reps who hardly speak English, is unorganization, bad tech suppport, and the product quality itself. Half the time we got charged double minutes because the phone was supposedly out of the area and in 'roaming mode,' when it actually wasn't. It took months for them to send me a simple battery charger to replace a defective one. Finally the last straw was my wife's phone suddenly went inactive - couldn't make any calls whatsoever. When I called to find out why, they could give no explanation, but said she would have to reactivate and start with a new phone number (this would be the third new number for her). Bye-bye Tracfone - it hasn't been fun.

Summary: Don't waste your time or money!
Review: We bought two Trac phones for the kids. Between the horrible features of this phone as well as the expensive cards. If that's not enough, when you buy more minutes and try to install them either by calling Trac Phone or through their web site, it doesn't work and it takes them over a week to get the minutes in the phone. They don't even try to you happy. They just are miserable to deal with! Don't waste your time or money. Tracphone is just not worth the time or aggravation for the activation!

Summary: Tracfone is a great cell phone... as long as you never use i
Review: What I really mean is this is a great phone if you want to use it for less than 30 minutes a month. Great phone to have for emergencies only. Price of call per minute is pretty high, but my monthly cost is only about $8/month for service. See below for the $100/year deal I recommend.

I've bought 3 phones from Tracfone in the last few years and have been happy with the phones themselves and the 'prepaid' aspect of the phones. My only complaint is the customer service. Bar none they have the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. I don't think they train these folks at all and I have never gotten a quick answer when I have called. Tracfone does have a decent website and you can do everything you need to do (buy, activate) online. I highly recommend doing it all via their website.

Make sure you do register online... you will get an additional 10 minutes free for doing so. www.tracfone.com

Check out the promotions on their website... they usually have a reconditioned motorola phone with 1 year service and 150 minutes (+ bonus minutes) for $100. They also always have a brand new motorola phone with 1 year service with no extra minutes for $80.

Want an extra 60 minutes? They are offering a 'refer a friend' promotion where the referer and referee both get 60 minutes when a new friend signs up for tracfone. Send me an email at pat_booth@hotmail.com if you want me to refer you! Just make sure and let me know the email you plan to provide tracfone when you buy the phone.

Summary: A disaster.
Review: When I went on line to activate my new Nokia Tracfone, their web site informed me that - based on my zip code, which I most certainly do know! - I lived in a different city than I imagined. It kept "correcting" my address and demanding that I confirm its error, and would not let me proceed with activation unless I did this.

So I called their 800 customer service line, although that meant giving up the bonus minutes for on line activation (and I really, really like doing things on line whenever possible, anyway). I found myself talking with a pleasant young woman whose foreign accent was so pronounced that we had a lot of trouble understanding each other. She did her best to help me, but eventually informed me that the phone was defective.

I was actually relieved. Back it goes. And I'm off to get a conventional cell phone from a carrier with a local office.
