Rating: Summary: Good Coverage...Very Economical! Review: My husband and I have used tracfones for over a year and are very happy. They use the largest phone company's network for the best coverage(always good signal). It costs about $9 a month. We cancelled our 29.99 sprint plan an enjoy the savings. You can get 100 free minutes through their referal plan, just e-mail me at krisjny@hotmail.com and I'll send the referal to you. Their customer service is OK and their website works fine.I don't really understand others complaints, but who knows what they were expecting. Tracfone is for light users, maybe 50 to a hundred minutes a month.
Rating: Summary: A Real Bargain For Light Users*** Review: My wife and I switched to tracfone over a year ago and are very happy. We activated our phones on-line and had no problems. The Nokia is a little bulky, I prefer the Motorola v120. We use 20 to 50 minutes each month and it costs us only about $9 per month to keep it active and have plenty of minutes. I recomend buying one of their phones that comes with one year activation or the one year card that now give 250 minutes. I can send anyone a referal for 100 minutes free for any new customer. It costs nothing and we both benefit. E-mail me at scottyjny@yahoo.com if you want referal or more info. ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: Using TracFone is like making a deal with the devil Review: Terrible customer service; misinformed service reps (I was told that I would be able to transfer my existing Tracfone nubmer to an upgrafed Tracfone, which wasn't true). Trying to get a refund is next to impossible. As someone who has used TracFone, I can say with absolute certainty it is not worth it. Learn from my mistakes and go with a more reliable pre-paid service such as AT&T, Cingular, Virgin, etc. Avoid TracFone unless you want sub-standard service, false promises, and crappy phones.
Rating: Summary: Good phone, bad service with Tracfone Review: The phone is a little heavy, but it works well. I would keep this phone if it weren't for the lousy Tracfone service. Tracfone charged me two times for its insurance and I only authorized the first charge. I have spent a couple of hours trying to resolve this but I give up. Customer service is non existent.

Rating: Summary: 2 months and 4 calls , still not activated. Review: The phone is nice and has good features. I bought this for my son for Christmas. He was so happy he told all his friends. Well at the end of Jan. the phone still was not activated. I called 4 times. Customer service sucks. I do not think any of them new english that well. And then one guy was trying to explain to me that the phone won't work without singal, like I am stupid. He told me this 3 times. I got so mad I had to give the phone to my husband before I started to say things that would not of helped. I gave up after the 4th call. I finally told them to cancell the whole thing. My son liked that because of this my son ended up with a flip phone from verizon. And I end up paying more. Stupid tracphone company.
Rating: Summary: Only Slightly Better Than a Calling Card & Payphone Review: The phone itself is good, appears to be sturdy enough, basic features, but the Tracfone prepaid service leaves much to be desired. For starters, it is nearly impossible to get in touch with a live person, if you need to speak with someone on a customer service issue. Emails are usually returned within 24-48 hours, but sometimes don't even address your original question. My biggest beef is the minutes deducted. When traveling out of one's local area, sometimes a validation code must be entered in order to "prove" you're who you say you are. Tracfone deducts minutes each time, even though the cellular company announcement says "this is a free call." So let's say you are in the NYC area, and want to make a call ... you must first be validated (once per 12-24 hours), which knocks off 2-4 units (1-2 minute call, in roaming mode), THEN you get to make your call. And if for some reason you get a "Your call cannot be placed" message? Forget it -- those minutes are GONE. Keep these things in mind, if you are using this for an emergency phone. I was left walking in this past weekend's blizzard up on Long Island, searching for a payphone, when Tracfone wouldn't come through for me. I'll continue to use them in my local area, as my only cell phone use is to check messages or make important calls, but I'll not make the mistake of depending on them again when traveling.
Rating: Summary: Very Economical For Low Minute Users Review: The Tracfone Nokia 5180 is a good choice if you want a simple to use, inexpesive phone. I find tracfone's customer service to be improving and their website is good enough for my needs. That said...if you want a phone for occasional or emergency use and don't want to pay $30+ a month, there is no better choice. I keep mine active for around $9 a month. I can answer questions and send referrals good for 100 free minutes. Just e-mail me at krisjny@hotmail.com.
Rating: Summary: Tracfone should go out of business soon! Review: The worst kind of customer service you can imagine. I bought a reconditioned model and tried to set up on the internet. After several (total) hours of calls they finally gave me another phone. They couldn't get that one to work. After two weeks when the next one came it wouldn't take a charge. The worst part is customer service. If you speak Spanish it would help because their English (all of them) is poor.
I strongly recommend NOT BUYING any Tracfone due to the very poor customer service and clumsy method of setting up service.
Rating: Summary: Good, Simple, Inexpensive Phone...Great Coverage! Review: This phone is easy to use and good for people using 50 minutes or less per month. I keep my phone active for about $9 a month. If you want longer battery life and slightly smaller, the motorola(more expensive) is also a good choice. I don't agree with others about the tracfone website or their customer service. I have had very little trouble and have activated and purchased phones, added time and referred customers through their site.If you would like 100 free minutes for new customers e-mail me at krisjny@hotmail.com .
