Summary: LoVE IT!!
Review: The Audiovox 8500 has great quality sound, and tons of features. I like the voice-dial capability and the ease of account management. You can "top-up" minutes right from the phone, or from their website, eliminating the need for calling cards. (although you can buy those too) Virgin Mobile uses the same system as Sprint, so there is nationwide coverage. VERY cool for a pre-paid!

Summary: good
Review: I purchased this phone for my son, he is impressed with it. The only thing that he complains about is that the ringer volume is so low, that sometimes he misses his calls, he also says that their is no games on the phone. But this phone is a nice phone for younger people, its simple, and it has clear and loud reception. It has really nice non-color screen displays and its the best phone to consider if you want a small little cute flip pre-paid phone!

Summary: Comments
Review: I just want to make a couple of comments:

I have a Kyocera Rave 7 phone with Virgin Mobile and am very happy with it and its features. It's $59 on Amazon now, and I only average about $16 a month in text messaging and phone calls so it's been a good deal for me. Also good if you want a phone for your kids but don't want them to be phoneheads. My daughter averages $12 a month and still keeps in touch with her friends as well as being able to touch base with us. I'll tell you, it beats the $80 a month my friends are paying for two cell phones.

In my area, cities, and along all major routes there is very good coverage, which is all I need, but note that it is only the Sprint network, no roaming on other networks so coverage in the boonies is nil (although you get your messages and voicemail).

I would like to correct another reviewer on the pay as you go costs. It is 10 cents to send a text message, nothing to receive, and very reliable. But for calls it is 25 cents a minute for the first 10 minutes each day, 10 cents thereafter. I generally make short calls, and on the rare day when I use over 10 minutes I appreciate that it's cheaper.

Summary: Phone For Teen
Review: This phone is a really good phone for kids to start out with. They can learn to balance their minutes, and with the touch of a button find out what their balance is, which means how many minutes they have left. It is a very small uniqe phone. The only downside of this phone is that there are no games on it. Everytime you open up the phone it changes a different color, that is my favorite part of the phone.

Summary: I love this phone!!!!
Review: I purchased this viring moble phone about one year ago, and it is awesome. I am seventeen and I hate having bills to pay, so it is so much easier on me. It would be easier on anyone. I just top up, add more money into the account, whenever i need to. If I dont use any minutes I dont pay anymore for the next month. This is just an amazing offer that I couldnt see anyone passing up!

Review: Cons of this phone
-When the phone doesn't get any signals and is searching for a signal, it resets itself. i.e during class. this has happened to me during summer school class.
-Has no games
-Bad Reception for me
-Doesn't hav AIM
-What the heck is Net alerts? i don't know what half of the features are for and how to work them.
-the LCD colors are too dark and makes it hard to read the screen
-the voice mail isn't technically free, b/c you have to pay to listen to it through your phone b/c you're using air time minutes.
-the manual doesn't really explain what the features are for, they tell you how to set them up and use them.
-The vibration isn't that strong, and if the volume is at it's max the sounds are distorted. i.e the ringtones.

*****Pro's
-Small, compact, stylish. my friends were awed by how small it was.
-The cost is pretty cheap for infrequent users. Who use a minute or two once a day to say "mom, practice is over. pick me up now please".
-Customer service is the best, friendly operators. and free to call using your cell phone or home phone
-It does have 7 LCD color display. I use the pink one. Some ppl say they have 3 scree savers. I only have one, which is the flower with a butterfly flying. Strange....
-Free to recieve text messaging when ppl email you at 321777123@vmbl.com I didn't know that until I read it on the reviews today.
-Free long distance, and no roaming since it's prepaid. and you can pay using a credit card online.

-It has a website where you can see your acount history from day one.
-The address book can hold up to 5 numbers. Home, cell, work, fax, pager. but i just use the fax and pager to put other numbers in there. i.e if my friends have two cell phones or two home phones. i just enter the other number in the fax or pager slot.
-There's voice recognition, but I don't know how to use it. It's just easier for me to dial ppl's phone numbers lol.
-(...).
-I bought the last 8500 from best buy in my city. since the 8610 were out they weren't ordering any more of the 8500.

Summary: Virgin Mobile
Review: The Virgin Mobile Audiovox 8500 is a great phone. I did not purchase this phone from Target, but I had to let someone know how wonderful the phone is. It has great features just like the expensive cellular phones that you pay $30-$70 bucks for every single month. I had purchased my phone from the actual company. I am almost 29 and I have a home telephone, so why pay into a cellular phone every month? The Virgin Mobile phone is exactly what any person could bargain for. It's a must have, check this out- I live in another state and traveled through OH, KY, IN and all the way to IL and each state offered this service and I had no problem using my telephone. There are no roaming charges, long distant charges or anything.

Summary: My Review
Review: I think this phone is the perfect starter phone for a teenager. This was my second cell phone ever. And I just recently bought a new one to upgrade. It works great, I get great reception. (I'm in PA) I took it to FL with me last summer and it worked great! If you are one of those "high tech" people. This isn't the phone for you. But for starters, it's great.

Summary: Spend the extra $20 and upgrade
Review: I really, really didn't want to purchase yet another phone. For over 10 years I have had a mobile plan and every time I switch companies they make me buy a phone (please, please recycle your old ones. Target takes them. Ok, off my soap box) So I wanted to get the best deal, so I went for this phone since it was on clearance for $80. Big mistake.

To be fair, it's a great looking phone...from the outside. It's the smallest one I have ever seen. But it has a "black and white" screen-- so dated. For $20 more you can get the 8610 and get a full-color screen. The phone is a little bigger (I mean a LITTLE bigger) but the screen is the best. The 8500 does have a backgroung color (choice of 8), but it only stays on for 20 seconds max. and then turns to that outdated green screen with grey lettering.

This was the very first phone Virgin ever had and the 8610 is an upgrade in ever sense of the word. Better screen, better ring tones, better reception. I switched and you should too. You won't be sorry.

But hey, if this model goes on *super-duper* clearance, go for it! It's sweet, and looks and feels great. But I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it.
