Summary: READ THIS!!!!!!!
Review: I reserached the keyboard recently because, I wanted to see if the price had come down any from the infamous [price]. Amazon does well in keeping their price down lower than their competitors. As a matter of fact, I purchased mine on July 18th. On that day, for some strange reason (one that I am not going to complain about), Amazon listed the new selling price of [price]. In addition, the company rebate was also there for [price]. I thought this was a typo, but it was for real.

I got it today, and I must admit that I am rather impressed. If you own the handspring visor, then you definitely know that it is not known for giving a lot of technical trouble. Sure, if you don't change your battery when you're supposed to and if you don't backup regularly, then you're pretty much [out of luck] as time goes on. For normal visor users, this should not be new information falling from the sky.

With that in mind, the keyboard is a great addition to your palming experience. I know that even though I am off to college, i would much rather rely on my handspring then any laptop that I might take. This keyboard and the visor is less likely to get stolen and will make your life as a student much easier. Surely, I am taking a laptop with me that's about 3 years old, but it is solely going to be for backing up my documents.

The keyboard itself is going to be great because this thing is literally indestructable. I just banged it against my desk and i dropped it on my hard wood floor earlier and it nothing happened,so it just goes to show that this keyboard needs some serious hurt, before it breaks.

What's there left to say? Save yourself the time if you're looking to buy this because Amazon sooner or later is going to come down on the price of this again like it did on july 18th. The keyboard is a great buy, but wouldn't you rather save yourself money? If you're college bound, then buy it before you go to college as late as possible for a much lower price which it will surely drop to.

Summary: A must have for any PDA
Review: This is a really great addition to my Handspring Prism. It basically turns your PDA into a compact laptop. I use it for typing my schedule (with 3 kids and being a graduate student there is a lot of that!!!), typing my notes for class (and in class), making study guides, flashcards, etc. I take it when we have to wait and my 6-year old uses it for letter recognition (so it's really sturdy). I love it.

Summary: Great portability, OK feel, needs adapter for some iPAQs!
Review: This full-sized keyboard folds out from a rectangle roughly the size of your iPAQ. It has a function key which provides added convenience, such an "OK" key that simulates tapping the "OK" button on the screen with your stylus.

The board was advertised to support the newer 3800 series iPAQ on the vendors site. I missed the fine print that explained that you had to call in to get a converter piece from Targus. That put me out a little bit. The converter did have an input for the power cord which the keyboard was lacking. So with the converter you can charge your iPAQ while you type on the keyboard.

The back-stand metal frame that supports the weight of the iPAQ while it is inserted onto the keyboard is flimsy feeling. It becomes even more noticeably awkward feeling when one of the expansions packs, like the CF expansion pack, is attached to the iPAQ. Definitely, this is part of the keyboard needs to go back to the drawing board. I also noticed that the keyboard tends to slightly bounce up and down while typing on some surfaces.

I really like the way this keyboard folds together and apart. I think Targus is a top-notch company. It's definately better than no external keyboard, but I would check out Compaq's new portable iPAQ keyboard before buying this one.

Summary: Good as long as it works
Review: My Targus Stowaway keyboard for Visor Deluxe seemed to have died over the weekend after eighteen months. Actually, it was an internal conflict within the Visor. I had added a jumper wire inside the Visor so I could charge from my hot synch. cradle after a corresponding modification to the cradle.... My Stowaway keyboard worked just like before after making this modification. Then I downloaded Targus' lastest version of the driver for the keyboard. A couple of days later the keyboard was completely non-responsive. I have removed the jumper now. The keyboard does have a nasty habit of ceasing to communicate with my PDA. By experimentation, I learned that a soft reset followed by a warm reset got it going again. The keyboard works well when it works, but too often it does not.

Summary: Too Big, Too Expensive
Review: I bought both the Targus Stowaway and the HP Pocket Keyboard for the HP Jornada 568. What did I end up using ALL the time? The Pocket Keyboard. Targus had a great idea when they first came out with this keyboard, but the latest crop of pocket keyboards makes the Stowaway look like a technological dinosaur. If you MUST have a full-size keyboard, buy the Stowaway, but realize that you're not going to be able to use it in many conditions (i.e., on a bus or train with no flat, hard surface to put the keyboard on). You CAN use the Pocket Keyboard virtually anywhere, and it is about half the price. Of course, you'll be typing with your thumbs instead of the rest of your digits, but I found that the Pocket Keyboard was much more useful.

Summary: Worth the cost
Review: I purchased the Targus keyboard for my iPAQ and it is well worth what I paid for it. It is very user friendly, the software is very easy to install. Worth every penny I paid for it.

Summary: Great addition to your handspring
Review: I am a student, and i have found this accessory an absolute necessity. I take it with me to the library to type notes and it is just as handy as a laptop. The keystrokes are very fast, and it's so compact. Everyone who sees me using it thinks it's amazing. If you are on the fence like i was, go for it, well worth it!

Summary: Almost perfect.
Review: This keyboard is impressive. Though it is not practical for constant use, it is certainly the answer if you have large amounts of text to enter. (I would not jot down a phone number or address with it, but if I'm copying a recipe, taking notes, or writing e-mail, it's perfect.) Even though I have a great and small laptop, there are times when I want to be typing in thirty seconds and be done-and certainly not re-forming graffiti gaffes or trying to remember punctuation. The software is easy to install, and you get the hang of connecting it to your visor after a few times. It's particularly useful for third party applications that don't have a pc desktop interface; my checkbook program, for example, would otherwise have me do my week's collection of receipts with the stylus.

For the keyboard-
PRO: *Full size, comfortable, responsive; has a nice, faint clicking sensation. *Attaches easily. *Truly compact. *Some function keys. *Flawless (in my experience) integration with the rest of the machine-not glitchy and doesn't seem to drain the batteries. *Kinda slick to whip it out in a meeting room.
CON: *It can't sit right on your lap, really. You have to put it on something flat.

For the software-
PRO: *Easy installation. *Some nice controls for repeat rate, etc. *Compatible with non-keyboard use of the Visor whenever you prefer. If it's in the keyboard, the machine knows it-use of the stylus is not at all compromised.
CON: *You still have to use the stylus. You can't tab between fields, choose items from pop-up menus, scroll through lists, or other things those of us who are truly keyboard-dependent have come to expect.

Summary: Very good overall...few *techy* issues with it
Review: I think that this works very well... but it can be a bit picky to connect to your visor... its not really hard but lining up the unit and the keyboard requires some maneuvering sometimes... and i can see how you could just *knock* off the connecting pins... i used it a few times on my lap instead of a desk and it doesnt seem to to lie stragt now, even on a desk. i am not sure if its cause i used it on a not flat surface or after time it just doesnt *connect* as effecently and isnt as flat...but it is a bit of a pain.. also i had a time when i had to call the support line (who were very helpful by the way) it seems that it works best if you connect the unit when the visor is off and than turn it on...so the drivers load.Sometimes the drivers will not load if you connect the keyboard to a visor that is *on*... it seems if the visor is on and you connect sometimes the keyboard wont work and you wont know why... this seems a bit picky and a reel pain in a meeting.
ON THE OTHER HAND.... it is way easier than using graffiti..or the on screen keyboard... it makes the visor MUCH more useful for taking notes, putting in data...addresses..etc There are many more keyboards on the market now than when i bought mine and i would check them all out...but besides these few things mine has been working well for as long as they have been out

Summary: Don't buy this for the PEG-N760C!!!
Review: I had a stowaway keyboard for my old Palm Vx and it was brilliant. So much so that when I upgraded to a Sony PEG-N760C I naturally bought a stowaway keyboard for it.

Bad news - The connector on the model for the PEG-N760C is truly awful. It doesn't clip into place and it refuses to hold it at the right angle to make proper contact. End result? The keyboard is unusable.

I've got to try to return it. Be warned, although I can't speak for other Clie models, it probably won't work with your PEG-N760C.
