Rating: Summary: Too easy!! Review: Needed a reader for Cannon PowerShot compactflash cards. With XP, SanDisk was identified and drivers installed by the machine without any additional action. Too easy!! Pictures downloaded in less than a minute.
Rating: Summary: Met my expectation Review: Worked flawlessly. Couln't ask for anything more; especially at the price.
Rating: Summary: easy picture downloading Review: I was fairly new to the world of digital photography when I purchased this product. I have used it extensively for a year or so now and I highly recommend it. It works great but when setting it up use the naive driver in ME or XP and not the disk it comes with in otherwords hook it up to your usb port, power up your computer and let windows recognize your new hardware and find the appropriate driver and you should be set to go. If you find that you are running short on usb ports like I was another neat gaget is a Linksys USB 4-Port Hub that I also purchased on Amazon.
Rating: Summary: Freezes up the system... Review: This card reader sounds like a great idea, but it unfailingly freezes up my system. Tech support first said I needed to update the 4-in-1 Via motherboard drivers on my system, but that failed to work, and I'm ready to return the product.
Rating: Summary: Neat way to download digital pictures Review: Nice little item, easy to use and doesn't cost much. Beware if you use Windows XP, DO NOT use the software that comes with it. I called SanDisk tech. support and they said it that. XP users, just plug it in, and it configures by itself. Downloads pictues in a few seconds using a USB connector. I needed this as my Polaroid digital camera software is not XP user friendly.
Rating: Summary: But what about support? Review: I have an older SanDisk Imagemate and was very happy with it under Mac OS 9, but it has no support under Mac OS X. SanDisk support just say "too bad, buy a new one with Mac OS X support". So basically, if you're going to buy anything from SanDisk, keep in mind it may not be future proof, they may decide just to abandon you and con you in to buying a new model. No thanks!
Rating: Summary: Useful product Review: Good flash card reader. CAUTION: On windows 2000 / XP, DO NOT install the supplied drivers on CD like the manual says, let Windows install native drivers, otherwise you will have a major headache.
Rating: Summary: JohnnyNo Review: The SDDR-31 didn't install correctly on my computer (windows 98se w/ AMD processor). I Called Sandisk tech support and they were able to get me up and running. Only one problem, my computer hangs up when I start the computer with the SDDR-31 connected to the USB port. The computer boots up fine if I disconnect the SDDR-31 and reboot. Then I can connect the SDDR-31 and it's operational (does everythng it's supposed to do). I spoke to Sandisk tech support once again and they told me to try downloading a patch from Microsoft. That didn't work. I'll keep trying.
Rating: Summary: Super Easy Review: I have a P4 1.6G Win XP system. This has got to be the simplest install I've had to date. It took longer to unpack than it did to have up and running. If you are looking for a CompactFlash Card reader / writer look no further. YOU JUST FOUND IT!!!
Rating: Summary: What an immense improvement! Review: I had a big CF card (128 MB) but a SLOOOOOOW digital camera on a serial port. It took several minutes to download each picture! This was not a practical way to use all of that memory. Then I picked up this product. It would be an understatement to say that it downloads fast, since it doesn't even have to download, it's already there! It is just like a removable hard drive on your computer, and just that fast. I copied about 30 MB of pictures in about 25 seconds. The quality also seems to have improved, but I don't know why that would be...maybe I couldn't see the pictures before through the red of my frustration with the download. My camera is useful again!
