Summary: Great product - WinME users, read here!
Review: This is WONDERFULLY convenient, especially if you have more than one electronic device that uses SmartMedia or Compact Flash, as it will read both types of electronic media. After over a month of use, I've had no problems with it.

BUT, I did have one heck of a time installing it. As noted by at least one other reviewer - if you have WinME, the software that comes with the unit is 100% useless. Save yourself a few hours of frustration and get the drivers directly from the Viking website. Only once (today, as a matter of fact) have I experienced a problem with my computer not recognizing the unit. A reboot did clear it up, but rebooting is never an acceptable "fix", in my opinion.

My rating loses one star for incomplete software & the VERY occasional recognition problem.

Summary: Easy to setup and use
Review: Install the driver software, plug it into the USB port. Download How hard is that?

I use it for downloading pictures. It keeps the camera free for taking pictures. What more can you say, it's about as exciting as a floppy disk drive!

BUT, it does what it was advertised to do!

Summary: XP compatable

Summary: A Win XP driver IS available!!
Review: Go to the vikingcomponents.com website. They do have a XP driver! Viking makes great products. If you need to download and/or upload from your PC to smartmedia, PCMICA, and compactflash you can't find a better reader/writer for the money.

Summary: Windows XP Driver IS Available!
Review: No, I don't work for Viking. I just got tired of reading all the one star, whining reviews here because Viking doesn't have an XP driver available. Well, I just went to ...the viking site.. and they do have a XP driver posted on their site!

I have nothing but good to say about the other Viking products I own, and I will soon have one more of their fine products--an IntelliFlash USB Flash Memory Reader.

Summary: A wonderful piece of technology
Review: This is one of the best inventions ever. The school I work at, Shadow Hills, has a computer lab, and every computer has this. It makes it's memory power better, and I really like that. So if I were you, I wouldn't miss out on this.

Summary: Viking USB CF Reader
Review: Bought the Viking Intelliflash USB Flash Memory Reader because transferring my digital photos from my camera to the computer was too slow. It would take over 1 minute per photo to transfer. Now, with the Viking CF reader, it takes about 2-3 seconds per photo to transfer. It works great!

Summary: Viking Intelleflash USB Stick - useless
Review: The reader barely works with ME, it can only read and transfer the photos. Anything beyond this and you get blue screen errors. It hasa compatibility problem with 64 MB sticks which the company knows about but has no definate plans to fix. No XP drivers and no plans to upgrade. Viking does not support its customers. I, too, took a chance on this product. My DataFab reader using Sanddisk worked super - I should have stuck with them. Buyer beware!
