Rating: Summary: It writes faster Review: .... The Ultra writes images to the camera faster than the regular version. That's how it is correctly marketed. It does not allow your camera to take images faster or shoot moving images faster - those skills are up to you and your camera. For pros, this card does make a difference because it cuts down on the writing time. For point and shoot photographers, I'd recommend buying the slower, less-expensive version.
Rating: Summary: How many pictures will it store? Review: How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.
The SanDisk 256MB Ultra CompactFlash Card, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.
I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.
Rating: Summary: Great card for those with D-SLR Review: I bought a base model Lexar 256MB CF for my Canon Digital Rebel (D-SLR 6.3MP) and I was disappointed in shot-to-shot time and I don't even want to comment on how slow the picture transfer to PC was.Today I was fed up and traded in for the Sandisk Ultra 256MB and while the shot-to-shot time is up slightly I can't believe how fast the 3MB JPEGs stream to my PC. I'd have to say its at least 3X faster on photo transfers. I think the latest crop of digital cameras can really benefit from faster storage media and if you've invested a good bit in your digital outfit then you should definitely consider premium memory. I would have given 5 stars if the price was a little bit lower.
Rating: Summary: Not any better than a regular Sandisk 256MB card Review: I have a nikon coolpix 4300, and I own both the regular and the Ultra versions of Sandisk's 256MB compact flash. I can tell no difference whatsoever in the speeds. I've even tried timing them. The adds about the Ultra being faster and better for someone shooting a moving object convinced me to buy it, but i really don't think it was worth the extra money. Save your money or purchase a brand with speeds proven to be significantly better than a regular sandisk compact flash card.
Rating: Summary: Good product but be careful Review: It seems like Sandisk is using some clever pricing mechanisms. Their ultra CF, which is more expensive, is right on par or below the CFs available from e.g. Viking, Simpletech. etc. While Sandisk standard CF is way below par. Bottomline, Ultra from Sandisk is equal in performance to regular CFs from other vendors. Clever marketing !!
Rating: Summary: Mixed bag Review: The card isn't compatible with my Sandisk card reader, but other than that I'm impressed with it.
