Rating: Summary: Dead before the ... check arrived Review: I recently purchased a high end digital camera, and I bought this memory chip to take on vacation to Montreal last week. To be able to shoot over 400 high resolution images without worrying about changing film seemed to good to be true - and it was! In the middle of a parade, I began getting "corrupted image" messages. In addition to spending the rest of the celebration mucking with the camera and fuming, I lost over 50 previously shot images of my little nephews first swimming lesson. Reformatting does not fix the problem. The only good thing I can say about Viking is that their warranty exchange policy is no questions asked. If I had it to do over again, I would get a series of smaller capacity chips - that way if one doinks you don't lose the whole shebang.
Rating: Summary: Great speeds for a low dollar/MB ratio! Review: I got this card for my Nikon digital camera and it is very good. The speeds are faster then the Sandisk Ultra cards and these are even cheaper.
Rating: Summary: Viking creates superior products... for less Review: This is my fourth viking flash memory card. Every single card I've ever bought from them has worked flawlessly. I've had one SM card from them for over 3 years, without any problems, and it's had heavy usage. This card is being used in my Nikon Coolpix 3100 (3.2MP). In uncompressed 3.2mp mode, I get 160 pictures. I havn't had any problems with it yet, and don't suspect I ever will. You won't regret this purchase.
Rating: Summary: Wrong Product Review: When I ordered this product I thought that it would work in my camera, but it is to large. My camera takes a MMC/SD card. Can I return this Viking to you a get the correct card. Please let me know,I will be looking for your replay.
Rating: Summary: Dead in under 5 months Review: I used the Viking 256MB in a Canon S45 camera and it worked great for 5 months and then died during a wedding. It will not reformat and various card readers can not read it. I have emailed Viking Componets, but they have yet to respond.
Rating: Summary: Fast Review: I purchased this when I purchased my camera so I didn't really realize the speed that this card writes. Then, I purchased a SanDisk and it is painfully slow compared to this card. Still, looking for more speed, I was convinced to purchases the Lexar 12x. The Viking is still faster. I wish I had purchased another Viking and will do, next time I need a new card.
Rating: Summary: Good, except for one problem Review: I have taken about 400 pictures on it. One picture had a memory card error on it... which I've heard some other people complain about. Fortunately it was a picture that I didn't care about. Aside from that one error, I have been happy with the product. [...]
Rating: Summary: I wouldn't buy this again Review: Yes, it's big. Yes, it's cheap(er). No, it's not without it's problems. Very finicky with the Coolpix 5000. If the Coolpix 5000 turns itself off due to inactivity, when reawakening, MOST of the time, the camera reports that the card is not usable. I need to power off/on several times before it will work again. In my Coolpix 2100, it just doesn't work at all. Could be the Nikon cameras, rather than the Viking flashes, but if you have a Nikon, I'd sugest paying the extra 10-15% and buying a Lexar Media card.
Rating: Summary: Beware - change in controller chip on new cards! Review: I ordered this card after reading the review of it mentioned in the description. The card performed as advertised, so I ordered another one. The second one was MUCH slower than my old 4X Sandisk card. Upon examining the product code, I noticed that instead of 910TS256CF, the new one says 910SM256CF. A call to Viking confirmed my suspicion, the new cards use Samsung chips instead of Toshiba. The tech support guy admitted that the Samsung cards were MUCH slower. So, if you are buying this card for the advertised speed, forget it! I don't think there is a slower card on the market. I was only able to achieve about 50K in the write mode, only 1/3X!
Rating: Summary: Don't buy anything from Viking. They are of low quality. Review: I am very very angry with this CF card that I received from Amazon as a gift . We had a wonderful travel after I got this new CF card. I took lots of pictures and video clips for the journey. But the saddest thing happened toward the end of the journey. The card does not work anymore. We lost all the pictures and clips. It almost ruined our wonderful travel. I tried every possible way to recover the photoes in the card. I borrowed CF card reader and use my friends DC to read the card. But this card can't be read any more. We are very very angry with the product. We tried Viking's technical service online. But they don't answer your questions. Viking is a liar who never cares about coustomers. They can't do anything about it. They can't even have the facility to recover the photoes. They can't or they are not willing to? I think it's the latter. A memory card company doesn't know how to read their card? What a big joke. Neither I nor my friends will ever buy Viking's product any more.
