Rating: Summary: horrible, horrible qulity, get away from this card! Review: I bought this card last summer for my canon S200 camera. It supposes to be able handling 350 pics. But I can only take 100 pics with it, over that number the camera says "CF card error". I found this problem two months after I got it since I didn't have chance to take many photoes with it. It was too late to return the card. I hate it. I will never try Viking again.
Rating: Summary: rebate problem Review: I recently purchased this product with $15 rebate. After more than one month, suddenly received an email saying that my rebate was denied because I sent the wrong UPC label. I think their rebate instruction is misleading - they actually need you to send a photocopy of the back of the card, instead of the packing label with UPC bar on it, though they have the SAME UPC label. So be very careful if you are expecting to get a rebate because you will see that they told you to send the ORIGINAL UPC label. The other reason I rated this product 2 star is that I have some problem with it during transfering data to computer. It became disfunctioned completely and could not even be formatted. And I heard other people complained about similar problems. Maybe it won't be my choice for my next card.
Rating: Summary: card is worth your while Review: i use my card with my dell axim and it works fine. its more than enough space to save your personal files and transfer them back to and from work...and i interact between 2 computers, home and office, it connects and updates without any problem. havnet lost a file so i cant complain and the rebate is well worth your time as well...
Rating: Summary: REBATE ... Review: Read the fine print on the REBATE. you MUST send the rebate within 15 day of purchase. so I would not recommend the free shipping that amazon has to offer. It may take too long for it to reach your place. Good Luck. I had this Compactflash for a year now and it works just fine. People complaint about speeds of the download, but what do they want when they tranfer hundreds of picture and video. Go get a drink of water in between tranfer. Its not really bad at all, and its cheap.
Rating: Summary: Viking 256 MB CompactFlash Card Review: Noticeably slower card than my sandisk and simpletech cards in a Nikon 995, which was acceptable when factoring in the price. The real problem is that after less than a year of use the card has died. Due to my laziness with my newly found storage capability I lost a few months worth of pictures(300+) so I also incurred the wrath of my wife. The card reformats now but dies after 5 or 10 pictures.I recommend against buying any Viking flash card. 0 stars if the option was available.
Rating: Summary: Stopped working after a few months Review: This card worked great for about 4 or 5 months with no problems and I was very happy with it. Then, every so often, it would either fail to save a picture correctly, or pictures already on the card would get corrupted when new ones were taken. Now when I use it, about every 4rd or 5th shot is ruined. This is with a Canon S45. So, I'm quite unhappy with it and am forced to buy a new card. I wish I had ponied up the dough for a better card in the first place. I will probably try a Lexar or Simpletech.
Rating: Summary: A good card, nothing special good or bad Review: I am using this card in a Digital Rebel and have had no problems with it. I have shot in JPEG mode but typicaly use it in RAW mode and have had no problems with it either way. The card comes with a warranty so if you have problems and let's face it, all electronic items have a few bad units in any given batch. If you have problems with it, simply return it. As for speed, this card does not rank up there but neither does it claim to. The transfer speed is not one of the selling points of this card. If you want a fast card, you have to pay for it. This card should be fine for most average users. If you are doing a lot of transfers and need the extra speed, consider paying more for one of the faster cards. The stated transfer rate on this card is 1.8 and mine seems to meet that rating. I have seen faster transfers using a card reader rather than using the camera to do the transfers but those results have been typical for all my cards. At this price (with rebate), you really cant beat this card for value.
Rating: Summary: Stopped working after only 2 days. Review: Like half the other reviews I've read here...my Viking 256MD card died after only using it for 2 days. It gives me errors and I'm unable to retrieve pictures off of it. I've also reformatted it and it still won't let me retrieve pictures. I tried reformatting it in another camera and took a few test pictures and it still can not get the pictures off the card. Sounds like Viking is having a serious defect with this card.
Rating: Summary: did not buy Review: I read the reviews and decided not to buy. Also emptied my shopping basket. This review is more for Amazon than customers. You need to resolve the problems with the customers who placed orders and wrote the reviews. Many of us read reviews and will not deal with a firm that does not solve legitimate customer problems. I have written this for your benefit so you will get some feel for how much business you are losing.
Rating: Summary: Great Value, no problems Review: Yes, the rebate period is short, but that's a trend I'm seeing with a lot of other manufacturers too. Plus, these things are priced competitively even without the rebate. It's free extra money, if you get it in on time. I was not aware of the purchase date issue, but I've gotten myself in the habit of sending rebates in quickly because of losses on other purchases. I received my rebate check last week (12/4), ordered it 9/9. It was free shipping too. Net cost, amazing. Card works well in my digicam. May not be the fastest, but it performs well. No problems with this one.
