Rating: Summary: Three in one- certainly is convenient! Review: A little more pricey than a dedicated Compactflash and Smart media card reader only, but for those who need a floppy drive as well, this is just the ticket. The only complain I had is the enclosed USB cable is a bit short. This is the ideal peripheral for digital photographers who work on a USB enabled laptop (on the road or in the field) that has swappable storage. Purchase the laptop with a CD-RW/ DVD burner and add this light weight peripheral and you can use the card reader and burn floppies to distribute or CD's from a motel room or sitting outdoors at a picnic table at the beach. As others noted, it installs right out of the box with the enclosed CD-ROM. Had no problems with Windows 98 operating system, despite a warning on the documentation that it might. My box came with no paper manual- ALL the documentation is digital. All three new drives were recognized by my computer immediately after installation. For MAC users without a floppy who still share files with others (and NO, alas, ZIP drives never were nor will they ever be ubiquitous), these are ideal. But, I've had problems with my floppy on my home desktop, plus the laptop I use has no floppy, so I can see this being portable and usable on both machines.

Rating: Summary: Tri-Media Reader Review: I am very pleased with this reader which I got for using with my 8600/300 PowerMacintosh (PCI USB card) and digital camera CompactFlash cards. One possible downside is that VST states "VST does not recommend or support using an IBM MicroDisk in the TriMedia Reader. This limitation does not effect floppy disks, compact flash, or smart media cards." I don't have a MicroDisk, but might in the future. Other than that, the reader seems to work great and should provide me with legacy floppy support if/when I upgrade to a newer machine without a floppy drive.

Rating: Summary: Highly Recommend Review: The VST Tri-Media Reader installed easily without a hitch. I have an IBM clone computer, and this reader works wonderfully with my computer. The reviews I read were written by Mac owners, so their information was a little confusing to me. I contacted VST tech support by phone and the technicians were very courteous and helpful. The unit is really easy to use. All I had to do was to slide my compact flash card in the slot, go into my "Pichture It!" program, click on the drive indicated, and all the pictures downloaded in record time. This Tri-Media reader is one of the best products I've ever bought!
Rating: Summary: A Much Needed Drive for the New Macs Owners Review: Why don't new Macs have a disk drive? I don't know. But since they don't, this is an essential buy. I have it hooked up to an iMac and it has worked without fail for me. However, I have only used floppies and flashcards with it. So I don't know if it has trouble with smartmedia cards. Anyway, this drive's design is great. It takes up very little space and matches perfectly with graphite iMacs/Macs. And it's USB powered, so there's no worry of an extra plug. The only negative is its somewhat high price.
