Rating: Summary: Works great with my PowerBook Review: I needed a CompactFlash PCMCIA adapter to use for transferring files to and from my old PowerBook 1400c without having to mess around with networks or floppy disks. This one works perfectly, with no additional software required under Mac OS 8. I currently use it with a spare Canon CompactFlash card. Transfer speed seems to be very good.
Rating: Summary: I didn't know much I needed this! Review: I used to carry my USB card reader when I travel to download/backup the photos to my laptop. No more! This GREAT adapter holds the CF card and slides into my Apple G4 Powerbook's PC card slot. The card shows up on the desktop just like any other peripheral device and I can copy the pictures, add things to the card, or do anything I could do with my USB reader. It is about the same speed as my reader - copied 100 MB in about a minute. This was only $7.99 and takes up NO space...it fits flush with the side of my laptop without sticking out. I didn't need to download a driver or anything, just plugged it in and I was ready to go. What a tip!
Rating: Summary: An Adapter vs. a Reader Review: With so many different gadget choices, you can never figure out which one YOU need to help upload those pics you took! The Adapter is a PCMCI card that you plug your compactflash card into. So if you have a PCMCI slot on your computer, this is your BETTER CHOICE. If you don't, then the reader is for you. Both are very well priced here. Both save you batteries and time. good luck.
