Summary: Coolpix 24mm Wide Angle Lens
Review: A great lens at a reasonable price. I often use the Wide Angle Lens for panoramic shots and sometimes for indoor use. Great for scenic shots such as mountains or valleys, and also for interiors, real estate, etc.

When used indoors, an external flash or lighting is recommended. The lens partially obscures the built-in flash. And as with any wide angle, there is less light passing through the lens to the "film."

Summary: a must have
Review: After purchasing and using the Coolpix 900 for nearly a year, I realized that in order to take much of a wide angle shot than the camera zoom alone would allow, something more was needed.
Well the WC-E53 is just that item. It perfoms just as you would expect from any Nikon lens and the only area of difficulty is that you cannot use the built in flash with the lens in place. I have yet to have any circumstance that would require the internal flash. There is always the external flash that would be available and needed to illuminate the wide angle area anyway.
Easy to use, just screw it on and set the menu for wide angle lens. On and off in seconds. Less peripheral angular distortion
than I expected. Overall very high recommended.

Summary: Loving it.
Review: Hey Andy, from Patterson: I also love my CP 990 (refurb unit, the camera is, though).
Re: your wide angle: did you set the camera to "M", then hit Menu, then scroll to Lens and select "Wide Adapter"? If you didn't, THAT'S why your 990 wouldn't focus!
Everyone else, I don't have this wide adapter yet, but I'm sure it's just as nice as the fisheye I DO have. (And the wide angle is on my wish list.)

Summary: Capture all that you can see
Review: If you are finding that your 3x zoom is going in the opposite direction of what you want then get this wide angle lens.

I was impressed with the quality of the images that this lens can produce. There is very little distortion except when used at very short focal lengths.

The only downsides are the size of the lens, the weight, and the fact that it blocks the optical viewfinder.

Summary: Just buy it
Review: If you are going to get just one accessory lens for your coolpix, make it this one. After owning it for 3 Mos. I use it all the time. It does not have a lot of wide effect optical distortion unless you get in very close. In those cases it is a fun effect. The quality of the lens is what you expect from Nikon and I feel the lens was very reasonably priced. I can say it has been a purchase that I would be very happy to repeat, unlike the 3X extender I bought.

Summary: Excellent lens!
Review: On a Coolpix 775 (with the required adapter) this is one formidable-looking device, but it delivers clear wide-angle views. There is some distortion around the outer edges, but that is to be expected for a lens in this price range. It definitely expands the CP775's horizons. If you want to shoot wider vistas give this lens a try.

Summary: Excellent lens!
Review: The lens I received was not packaged properly (was loose in shipping box with little or no protection) and most likely caused it to fail. I could not see or feel any damage, but I could also not get it to focus with my 990 properly. Even while setting the focus manually and trying various f stops, the lens remained out of focus. Needless to say, I have returned the lens.

Summary: Great Lens
Review: The Nikon CP990 is a great camera. After I bought this wide angle lens, it opened up a whole new world of digital shooting. It is a fantastic lens. You can't use flash or view through the viewfinder, but that's not a big deal.

There are cheaper wide angle lenses you can buy, but they aren't made by Nikon. Nuff said.
