Rating: Summary: philips micro-systems are quite good Review: This review is on the basis of the MC50, which I own. I am very impressed with Philips microsystems, having owned now my 2nd MC50. Probably not nearly as well known for quality m/systems as Sony, Aiwa, and Panasonic, I think they are quite good and AMAZINGLY complex. I am almost shocked by the keyboard remote and how many options there exists in operating this machine... almost like a small computer. The brochure must be 40-50 pages long; so you can see what I am talking about. I used to have component equipment in the late 60's and early 70's with equipment such as AR speakers and a Bogen amp/pre-amp. I truly believe that the micro systems now for under $150 rival components which were then over $250 (which adjusted for inflation would be > $1,000 NOW.) So I don't think you will go wrong with Philips in its MC line; however, the MC50 is much more powerful, fully electronic, has 2 speakers per cabinet and little w/wood cabinets. Also the MC320 is a real sexy little unit, with an ebony black plastic look, sort of a like an ebony piano. So, bottom line, this seems to be an entry model, w/ a low price and I think it will be quite a good value for what you will pay.
