Rating: Summary: Box Was Correct Item...Item Inside Was Not Review: Ordered Panasonic SC-PM47 mini system on Aug. 30th. On Sept 30th item was delivered. Correct item was pictured on the box. When I opened the box a model SA-PM47 was inside. Not the item I ordered. I called 1.800.201.7575 and was handed off from one uninformed representative to another. I asked for a supervisor but was given an order specialist. I cannot beleive that I spent 10 minutes with the first representative then transferred to the Electronics department only to be told , "I guess they are not open right now" I was charged for my free shipping. Now 30 days after placing my order I am told that this item cannot be reordered and the only thing I can do is return the item. POOR SERVICE is unacceptable and we as customers can address poor service by taking our business alsewhere.
Rating: Summary: SA-PM47 + SB-PM47 = SC-PM47 Review: The main body of the mini-system is named SA-PM47, the speakers are named SB-PM47 so the whole thing is SC-PM47. I own SC-PM25 with the same kind of naming. A little confusing but still great system.
Rating: Summary: Nice For The Price Review: While I didn't get this here, I did research it here, and make comparisons to other units here. Panasonic goes through grades of units, as the PM number gets higher, they have progressively more power, features, and a better speaker system. This is for the traditional stereo user who wants a two-speaker unit, and not have speakers spread all over the room. The two speakers with the unit are very high performance. Two large subwoofers in the sides are powered by a separate amplifier. You have two sets of wires from the amplifier unit. One for the subwoofers, (side of each speaker cabinet) and one for the midrange and high speakers, both in the front of the speaker cabinet. In the picture, it may look like the speakers are tilted to give the unit perspective. This is not true, they are actually a bit wedged shaped to allow the subwoofers to project out into the room, from the side of the speakers the subwoofers point outward. You'll want to know that the CD changer can replace any cd while the player is on, except the one playing. Each of the five cd trays is separate, so access is easy. The display on this unit is very imformative with scrolling text messages. It displays behind the mirrored coating, with a eye easy, light blue color, that is easy to see in dark or light, without being distractive. The radio section and cassette are nice. The external antennnas brought in many stations I've not normally heard. I can't say I tried the MP3, or the other digital sound features. Its just another option that makes this a good little unit for the money. My final test was checking out the PM 27, a step down, but close to his unit, as compared to others at a local retail store. Sony, Philips, Memorex, and others could not compare to even the step-down unit. You really could not compete, till you went to the 5.1 speaker surround systems, these cost more money, with less features (typically no radio or cassette included with them). The unit has a nicely small, and convenient remote that controls most features. There are various pre-set equalizer settings, that change the sound to your taste. I believe you can customize your own, but you'll probably find one of these canned settings pleasing enough to your current listening mood. The unit is solid, heavy wood cabinet speakers, and a very heavy, steel, amplifier cabinet. This keeps the unit from having the rattles and squeeks of all the other models I tried. All in all, if you need a bookshelf system, this is the one to get.
